One more grout tip. The best gift I gave myself where my grout is concerned is that after I used this method to clean my grout I went to Home Depot and bought a bottle of Polyblend Grout Renew. It's a grout sealer and stain all in one. Essentially you can make any grout any of the colors available. Light to dark color, or dark color to light. Doesn't matter. I simply followed the instructions on the bottle and my grout looked brand new. I have two ceramic tiled bathrooms and have done both bathrooms twice off of the one bottle of Grout Renew that I bought. I probably went four or five years between applications. I find that the grout mops clean much easier between applications and I haven't had to scrub the grout like that again.
@@wess7831 Good luck! It lasts well for me. After redoing both our bathrooms the second time I still have about half the bottle left. It went on quicker & easier the second time & still going strong.
@@againstallodds404 Yes, clean the grout, then after it's dry apply the Grout Renew according to the instructions on the bottle. You will get some on the tile itself, but it cleans off. Just do a small area and clean the excess before moving on. The instructions on the bottle explain it all.
Did this today my whole bathroom looks new ! So clean !!!! Also it eliminates scrubbing a lot if you let it sit the dirt will come up if you make it like a paste !
It would speed things up to put your solution in one of those squeeze bottles from the dollar store (like hairdressers use to color roots and folks use with kitchen oils to control the amt poured into the skillet). They're cheap and you can easily shake it to keep your emulsion at the right consistency and the small tip makes application easy and accurate.
Good tips!! If you can't find a grout brush a denture brush works really well. It's just as stiff (at least the one I found at Walmart was) and often times cheaper than a grout brush.
Bonus Borax tip - you can have some Christmas ornament fun with the kids & make some impressive, sparkling crystal ornaments by dipping shaped pipe cleaners into a Borax and water mixture. I'm sure Mr. Google has some simple instructions somewhere for anyone interested.
I will definitely try this. I have used Scrub Free cleanser with water and a brush. Time consuming but it works. Thanks Andrea Jean. I love your ideas !

We use half and half white vinegar and water, leave it on for 5 mins and use a long handled grout cleaning brush (son no kneeling) to go over the grout and then mop the floor with water. A tad smelly but it subsides really quickly. :)
This hack is ridiculous. Use bleach. I have white grout with grey tiles and so you can imagine how dirty the grout gets. Every so often, I sit on a short step, pour some bleach into a container, take an old toothbrush and wet the grout with the bleach. After getting all of the grout wet, I leave it like that for about 30 minutes. Have the fan on. When you return, most of it is already gone, the darker areas, just scrub with your toothbrush and then wipe away with a wet rag. It's not messy like what she's got and her's doesn't even look that clean. Mine goes white. You can clean your toilet bowl this way too. Pour some bleach into the bowl, use the brush to get some of the solution on the sides. Close the top and leave it alone for about 30 minutes or better yet do it before going to bed. Next morning voila! Clean as a whistle. Remember the fan.

Is this safe for marble bathrooms ? It’s is so difficult to find a marble cleaner that also takes away mold and doesn’t smell like I’m inhaling toxic chemicals. Any tips?
I use a pump spray pressure bottle at 10 litre capacity. I setup a small electric fuel pump to a little battery ( 12 volt) rechargeable pack. I put about 4 litres of white vinegar and a litre of water. I spray on grout joints then move to main bathroom and same thing. Spray the joints. Then immediately go to master bedroom and flush out the mould with the higher pressure. Once done I go to main bathroom and same thing. Done and dusted! Cheap and easy. You can use just a 10 litre pump up sprayer. You just have to keep pumping! If I'm in a rush? I use the battery powered unit. Like a mini water blaster. No scrubbing. The Acetic acid kills mould and cleans the grout perfectly. I've never tried borax. I'll have to try it.

If you’ve ever forgotten a load of laundry in the washer for a day, the odor is repulsive. Simply add 2/3 cup borax along with the usual amount of washing detergent product you use. Set your machine’s wash cycle and wash the load again. The borax will completely remove that awful musty smell!

THANK YOU for showing us cheap solutions and ideas on how to keep housework effective, cheap and good. Thanks! Blessings and stay safe ! Martha Stewart eat your heart out !!
I’d be careful about that one. If you leave it too long, the bleach in it can degrade and break down the grout, which will make it lighter, but will also make it wear away faster. It can also destroy the finish of the tiles
No, I used the Lysol blue toilet cleaner on my tiles about 4 years ago & they are as good as new. Also I used it recently & I haven’t had any problems on either the grout or the tiles. As I said before do a test check on your tiles first.

I clean the grout with awesome from dollar tree and it work wonderfully and it works right away. I use the broom to spread and a mop to clean it.
What is “awesome”
@@pgmom9634 it’s a clear bottle with yellowish liquid, it comes in different sizes and it says AWESOME on it, I use it too to clean anything & everything, it’s really good but it has that kind of strong chemical smell to it, so don’t get too close to it while spraying it..
Dollar Store has this
Can this be used on natural stone tile
I was cleaning rust stains off my tile with iron out and accidentally left a clean spot on my floor 😂 everything, grout and all came out looking brand spanking new with very little scrubbing needed
Tried liquid toilet bowl cleaner that someone recommended. Worked wonderfully on one square. and no effect anywhere else.
What brand? Ty.
Lysol…..works great!
Thanks 😁
Steamer I started using. I have a dog that uses the kitchen for the ‘crate’. But if this don’t have to sit for hours, I’ll try this
I have found Simple Green works well on grout. (Concentrated solution, not floor cleaning dilution)
It does , I have also used.
If you’ve ever forgotten a load of laundry in the washer for a day, the odor is repulsive. Simply add 2/3 cup borax along with the usual amount of washing detergent product you use. Set your machine’s wash cycle and wash the load again. The borax will completely remove that awful musty smell!
You've got that right! 🤗 My Grandma used Borax all the time for a bunch of cleaning uses.
Doesn’t baking soda do the same thing?
I use liquid laundry detergent and unfortunately to add powder I have to remove the liquid container/holder so basically it is in the same location under the liquid holder so how do I add the Borax. My machine is a front loader. Thanks.
@@lindathomas9892 Step 1. Open lid #2 pour Borax onto clothes. #3 close lid #4 Turn machine back on. Simple!!
@@lindathomas9892 Put the Borax in the drum under the clothes x♡x
What type of tile is that?
I saw a video of using Isopropyl alcohol, dawn, and warm water and toothbrush (seeJanedrill).....been blitzing it to clean the horrible grout lines. All these tips look promising.
Fir people allergic to bleach this is a unbelieveable. Thank you so much.
Purple Power from auto parts stores works great! they sell it at Walmart sometimes
What do you clean the tile with.
Thank you for another nice video 😊😇🌺🌻💐🌼🌷
What about walls in kitchen? Where this consistency would run down the wall?? Any suggestions
Thanks for the history lesson
Can you do this process to shower grout
Thanks
What is the "magic" grout cleaner you mention?
Just a thought. If you use the foam that is used in installing the grout to apply the cleaner it might take less time
Get to the point!!
😂
😂😂😂😂
😂😂
She's a woman so...
@@Anthrax57 oooooh controversial 🤣
Hi Andrea! Love the helpful hints!! What is the best for cleaning the grout in the shower? I have tried everything.
I would love to know this too
have you tried citric acid or sodium percarbonate? baking soda doesn't really work..
Toilet bowl cleaner with bleach 👍
Don’t get offended by my comment for its well meant, please don’t! I gave you thumbs up because you have good ideas which saves us housemothers a lot of money. However, nowhere in the world a woman cleans with rings on their fingers and much less those rings. Take them off when cleaning and put them on when you after the cleaning and talk to us. Also you used gloves to put on the solution you mixed, but didn’t put them back when scrubbing the grout. I looked at your video because i wanted to see no nonsense old fashion ideas of housekeeping here in America. I liked it and give you a 9 points. I don’t give 10 for the reasons above. THANK YOU for showing us cheap solutions and ideas on how to keep housework effective, cheap and good. Thanks! Blessings and stay safe ! Martha Stewart eat your heart out !!
Oops I have never taken off my rings for cleaning.
Yeah, that makes no sense to wear the glove for spreading it on, but not scrubbing it off.
I thought the same thing. But then we wouldn't see those sparkly rings if she wasn't wearing them.
I don’t wear my rings at all at home! They look 👀 like brand new! I could never clean with them on, nor do I wear them to bed.
Lysol blue toilet bowl cleaner is good too & the nozzle fits right into the grout groove. Did not discolour my tiles, but check on your tiles first.
@@Heart0fGold no bleach in product. Just a good amount of potassium hydroxide which is a power house cleaner.
@@lauram1875 actually, the Lysol Power Toilet Bowl Cleaner (blue) was discontinued last August but it contained mostly hydrochloric acid, also known as muriatic acid, which can permanently erode grout, tile finishes, and concrete. This is why the bottle specifically says not to use it for anything other than the toilet. They have the bathroom cleaner for all other purposes.
@@Heart0fGold that stuff works great. A quick search shows many people quite happy with its cleaning ability on grout and even tub. If they discontinued Costco must have purchased all their inventory because they still sell it.
It occurred to me that using a pastry sleeve might be faster to pour the mixture in the grout. What do you think?
Even a zip lock baggie with a corner cut
You mentioned several times you would put a link in the description for your #1 favorite method. There are so many links in there! Which one is it? Can you edit your link to preface it with something like “My #1 favorite method” ?
Toilet bowl cleaner 👍
Try using a mustard or may dispenser with a pointed tip to spread the mixture.
I heard toilet bowl cleaner works good I haven’t tried it yet but plan to
Easy off blue works great. Spray on the grout and let sit for about 3 hours. Spray flour with water. Then use a hard bristle brush on grout. Rinse several times. I prefer a wet vac.
Can you link the video for your favorite method..it's a bit confusing because each video references it but never seems to get to it.
It's just to use lysol clinging bleach toilet bowl cleaner. It does work so well!
Is this safe for stone flooring like travertine?
What is your number one method to clean grout? Could you please give us the link? Thank you!
