Jan Schultink very similar in tone, but cannot compare a 2 voice to an 8 voice.

Haha true! I have the black version, and luckily it just says "Tom Oberheim" four times + his signature.
Four oscillators, two filters....I'll have to do further research on this one. I usually think of Oberheim polys, and I usually prefer 24 db filters for monos, but this thing sounds really lovely

This is pretty good, but he has the resonance cranked too much on nearly every sound. Most of the best sounds from this synth is with the resonance set low... that's where all the gorgeous lives.
Maybe it's the wide angle lens but, It looks a lot smaller than I thought.

Having owned both, they both have their appeal, this one is more fun to play, ob 6 is MUCH more versatile and has one of the best pad sounds youll ever hear. It is dissappointing that it has a different basic sound, but this two voice is extremely limited in what it can do. Funnest synth ive ever played though.

It would have been wonderful to see Oberheim reissue the classic OB Four Voice and Eight Voice rather than get into bed with DSI and release that abomination called the OB-6. The OB-6 sounds nothing like its SEM counterpart. At least Tom was able to get the Two Voice to market. Fantastic synth!
I agree. The main purpose of the OB-6 seems to be cashing in, while there are still customers interested in analog. The Two Voice sonically is so far ahead of the OB-6 its not even funny. I think Tom chose the easy way out here. He was probably faced with two options: a revival of a real Oberheim poly (OB-8/xa), which would take such a long time to realise, he might not be alive to see it happen. Or going with the OB-6 which could be brought to market by Dave in a matter of months.
Tom just turned 80. We should be thankful the Two Voice actually emerged. Other Oberheim synths have been announced but never went into production (SO4V, Eurorack SEM and sequencer)

Bloody anything nowadays can sound like this, including synth almost ten times less than this.
Two lovely oscillators yes, but very basic in tonal possibility.
At $3500, it's a joke of a price.
Don't judge a book by it's cover. Notice the insane amount of patch points at the top of the panel. This synth is a lot more versatile than it leads itself to be at first glance.

With analog synths the only thing that really matters is the sound. People pay 10000 for a 3 osc moog modular, and this equals it in its distinct singular tone. The ob 6 is a bit cheaper but loses some of this magic. Where did that magic go? Did tom design faulty voice cards? or was it just not the magic combination he originally designed, like this is?

SEMs are fatter, that's a fact
really different no one would compare a two voice sem and an obxa for example.. they sound different to me and both are excellent but to me the edge in 3d fat sizzle goes to the TVS.

OB-6 is DSI and no Oberheim and the OB-6 sounds not like a real Oberheim SEM.
The selection of controls are excellent but it certainly doesn't sound like anything special.
