Hi, Brad! About scrolling: there is an option "Kinetic Scrolling" (in General->Tools). If you switch it to "On Click" (and restart) the scrolling of the presets should become much easier (Perhaps we should make it default on Android).
I'll definitely say that for a free program Krita is amazing, it can even compete with most payed programs on the market currently. Heck, it's even my program of choice for when I work at my computer instead of my iPad.
I've been wanting to check out their animation on the desktop version. They have been doing a great job for years. The fact that this works well on Android doesn't surprise me. Thanks for the video, Brad!
Please note that Sharaf Zaman is the guy who is responsible for this Krita Android port - he did it quite alone, and it took him over a year of hard work, so... - drop him some nice comments if you see this ;)
Dude, congrats and thanks, Google/Samsung should be paying you serious money, this will single-handedly make Galaxy tablets a worthy alternative to the more expensive iPads
Started messing with Krita on the Tab S4 with a bluetooth keyboard. Shortcuts seem to work as far as I've tried. Undo, clear, select all, and other really essential shortcuts seem to work. Only real issue I've had so far is that the palm rejection is spotty sometimes.
Coming back to this after avoiding the app for a while because of the palm rejection issue. Turns out that it's actually not spotty after all, but you have to turn off touch drawing to get it to work properly. Settings>Configure Krita>General>Tools>Enable Touch Painting and turn that off. That'll make it so that touch can only do gestures and you won't end up drawing all over with your palm.
With the SPEN, if your pen is pointing to the screen, the app will only accept input from the pen. You need to always kinda keep the pen pointing to the screen. It is really easy to get used to and it is awsome.

I've been using it a couple of days now on an older Samsung Galaxy Tab A with S-pen. I use Krita regularly on my Huion tablet, and found it all familiar, but I do have trouble with the small work area, so I found that if I set up display only settings to include the tool bar. I can work full screen and still have my undo/redo buttons available. All the rest of the things I need (except for layers) is available on the pop-up palette (long press on screen with finger). Perhaps as time goes by the UI will become less invasive. Also it autosaves, and saves your file in a strange place. It took me a long time to figure out where my work went after I saved and shut down. Despite all that it doesn't make my tablet sweat (get hot) the way Infinite Painter does, and it can do more than Sketchbook Pro, so I'm very happy with this development. Thank you for your review Brad.
As a krita user and somebody who is hopefully going to get a Samsung Galaxy Tab s 6 Lite (which seems like what you're using in the video) seeing this made me extremely excited.
I have it on the Note 10 +. It's unusable. You can't start a project because the options are off the screen, and all the text is in the wrong place. Unfortunately it seems like you really need a tablet for this.
You can easily customise the ui, and just get exactly the layout you want, even in tablet, for example you dont need the brush preset docker cause you can access the brushes from the top toolbar, or the color wheel given the pop up pallete is there on the android version. You can even attach more dockers to the topbar that opens as an overlay popup instead of having them as dockers, so that would be veeery helpful on those small tablet screens
I just got an S6 to work with at work. I wanted to like IbisPaint the best, with all the brushes, but found I like the way Concepts works. Definitely going to be checking this one out.
wow this is great! I tried it out on my Note 10+ and it's currently pretty unusable due to the size of the interface vs the size of the screen, but still super promising! I was able to confirm that tilt is working.
My tip is to enable gesture navigation on your tablet instead of the three buttons navigation. It gives you a little bit more room on the bottom. Android tablet is wider than IPad so it's a little bit harder to use.

Krita is a good app and it's fantastic it finally comes on Android. One thing, though, a 10' tablet is already pretty small, they must get rid of those awful bands up dan down the screen. There is no need to have those useless android controls and window-like titlebar permanently eating precious screen space.
Just installed on my Pixel Slate. Seems to run fine. I've tried Krita on the desktop and but didn't find it worth the effort to learn since I have Photoshop. Will definitely dig into it on Android/Chrome though! Thanks for the heads up on this!!!
NOW android can compete with iPad and procreate. All they need to do is fix the save function to include cloud saves and export format and we’ll have a real winner on our hands
"fix the save function to include cloud saves" - Umm... that will take some time. If we had a cloud saves, then we'd have to have accounts, servers etc... that's a huge lot of work and a huge lot of money needed. So it might be quite difficult to implement. However I see how it would improve the usage, of course. // tiar
I just wish they would add a true eraser. That was the one thing that made me chose Photoshop over Krita on the desktop. Everything else is there and works.
Works surprisingly fast on my older Samsung Galaxy Tab A from 2015 however the scaling and position of the buttons leave a lot to be desired, The resolution is 1024x768. I just like the fact that it's a Linux program compiled and running on Android. I have seen a trend with unofficial Libre Office ports on Android, which is so much better than the limited Microsoft office. Edit: Nevermind on the scaling, I changed the Android DPI to default, and now it's fine.
It’s great that Krita came to Android, finally a full featured app that can fully take advantage of those insanely high spec Samsung tablets with S-pen (i still like Wacom better than Apple Pencil) and 6++ GB ram. And Android have a file system you can actually use (I’m frustrated every time trying to share a png or psd to client via iPad). Most Android system also have build in Graphic tablet driver, so we can even go cheap on a budget Android tablet and a 20$~ mini Huion /Xppen( that is advertised to work on Android).
they need to at least put 2 large tap buttons on the left or right bottom corner to be able to press hide/show the side panels. tap with finger, select whatever with other hand (pen), tap to close. undos can be there too.
On desktop there is "Canvas-only mode" that one can access with Tab, but yeah, it would be good to have it easily on Android too even without the keyboard.

Wow!!!!! Ive been using krita im so glad it has an android version now 😍😍😍😍😍
Just installed on my Pixel Slate. Seems to run fine. I've tried Krita on the desktop and but didn't find it worth the effort to learn since I have Photoshop. Will definitely dig into it on Android/Chrome though! Thanks for the heads up on this!!!
This is a dream come true for someone like me, hopefully this will open the floodgates for more professional level apps to join the playstore.
Am I the only one wishing procreate came to the Samsung tab?
Great stuff as always. Thanks for the review.

I am excited to try this app with my note 10.
I used ibis paint to draw but this and ibis paint i both highly reccomend
I just wish they would add a true eraser. That was the one thing that made me chose Photoshop over Krita on the desktop. Everything else is there and works.
I just tried some keyboard shortcuts on my pixelbook. Works great! Game changer?
This is great man thanks for letting us know 👍😀
there was an s-pen actions section in the keyboard shortcuts... i wonder what that does
Yay also waiting to pre order the 128GB in Angora Blue I WILL BE HAPPY NO MATTER WHAT 😁
This is awesome, I'm gonna try it right away.
Been waiting for this!
Most Android system also have build in Graphic tablet driver, so we can even go cheap on a budget Android tablet and a 20$~ mini Huion /Xppen( that is advertised to work on Android).
finally!!!! commenting before the video!
they need to at least put 2 large tap buttons on the left or right bottom corner to be able to press hide/show the side panels. tap with finger, select whatever with other hand (pen), tap to close. undos can be there too.
On desktop there is "Canvas-only mode" that one can access with Tab, but yeah, it would be good to have it easily on Android too even without the keyboard.
Love your video from Indonesia ❤️❤️❤️
Would love to see an update to this.
What do we have here? Brad's new video and I am pump!

Samsung is supposed to release tablets in 11 and 12.4 inch sizes later this year. Hopefully this project is polished up to be more touch friendly.
