I was thinking of you when I watched that entire sequence. Are you going to scrap this project? As a fellow animator I would probably be smashing my keyboard now too, especially if I didn't think my vision was different enough to spend several thousand hours animating it past the storyboard.
But if I loved my project enough, I'd say to hell with everything and keep drawing.

I actually thought of your project when I saw the episode. I hope you're not actually going to scape it because as good as the cannon is, your's had a lot more feeling in it, and your full color animation was amazing.

Truthfully, while their sequence was epic and awesome, I've no doubt that yours will be just as amazing, if not more so. For one, it's hand drawn, which takes a LOT of dedication and love on the animator's part (in my opinion). For another, the amazing animation will be backed by an equally amazing song. I STILL get chills and the feels watching your animatic. x3 I really can't wait to see your project come to completion.
Also... THIS MERELY CONFIRMS THAT YOUR IDEAS ACTUALLY WERE CANON BEFORE THEY WERE CANON! x3 Too frigging awesome.
That deleting thing at the end was fake, right? I don't think I've ever seen someone like an animator outright destroy their work, even if someone else did something similar. Remember, the show's version was always going to be less detailed, less action-y and of course wasn't set to Lullaby for a Princess. I also think you said that you're style was gonna be completely different from the show's style. So there's already a huge number of differences. Your animation is still entirely valid.
Better get rummaging through that recycling bin.

while I do really hope that he kept the project actually, I do have a little problem with your ideas. the S4 rigs seem MUCH higher quality than previous season's. they've really gotten used to using 3D rendered assets as well, leading to smoother animations for some things (they still stick out like a sore thumb, but they fit nicely. if that makes sense. they fit, but you can tell they're not puppeted or drawn in). The effects department obviously spent a LOT of time on these episodes, it was absolutely gorgeous. The action sequences in part1 (part 2 felt really rushed, and the "action sequences" are resolved within the minute) were highly detailed, and i really felt myself being moved by them. The style thing there's nothing to argue about; The actual show still uses puppet animation because hand-drawing it would take far too long, and be too intensive for a tv show that isn't exactly raking in the millions, that being said, his animation is hand-drawn, and doesn't look as looped, the lighting and everything from the intro sneak peak was still above show quality, and in a deep idea that I wouldn't expect the show to go (ofc, i didn't expect the show to let the audience think they just saw celestia die, either).
Point is: the new season is gorgeous, but it's nothing compared to hand-drawn animation, and I hope that this is completed, no matter how similar yet different it is to cannon.

Btw you missed the part where Celestia was crying! You captured the same thing in your animatic. This is why your project is so touching. It's believable and we can see the original animators intending for their battle to have happened like this.

Im almost positive that the animators of the show go to UA-cam for inspiration from the fans. and when they have similar scenes its a nod of acknowledgement to all the hard work you've done. Keep up the good work!
What you managed to construct was much better than the official Hasbro offerings, which should be cause for a pat on the back. You deserve it.

I have a feeling yours is going to be a lot better than the actual thing though. It'll be a great new take on it, and be a lot better to us Luna fans who weren't satisfied with the lack of emotion they put into Luna's part in the episode. Not to mention the beautiful animation you're putting into it, and the fact that one of my favorite songs will accompany it.

Yeah, I too was thinking of Lullaby for a Princess when watching that scene. I am hoping they didn't steal the idea and they came up with it independently.
Also, to those who are seriously considering that WarpOut deleted his animation - he didn't, it's definitely fake. You can confirm it's an empty folder because
1. It deleted so quickly
2. If you go fullscreen 1080p you'll see that the folder was basically created today (24/11/2013)
they didn't steal the idea. S.4 has been in production longer then this animataic has been on UA-cam. Not to mention Faust had plans to show us this scene much earlier in the show. McCarthy decided know it was time to do so.
As funny as the video was, please tell us that the delete at the end was fake. O.O

Actually, your version fits perfectly with the show's! The part where NMM shoots down Celestia is similar to your version, and then Tia notices she'll have to use the elements. Sure, the part with the magical laser beams is different, but it's close enough. :)

Plus, before S4, a lot of people have speculated that Celestia's colorful mane came from using the Elements of Harmony.
Well Celestia and Luna used the Elements of Harmony before NM event when they discovered elements and used it to defeat Discord.

To be honest the song accompanied with your video made me cry, in a good way. Good art and talent combined with a moving song can damn well move the audience. Way to go Warpout!
Aww!, don't delete the Animation you've been working on, sure the backstory of Celestia banishing her sister was about 50% different than your backstory; I knew you would react something like that, but you should see why it's different than what you imagined; it was because the fight in the Season 4 premiere was Rated Y, so the story behind their fight was at a minimum; your backstory fight, I could say would be Rated PG, that means your backstory would have more violence and emotional textures; so your work is not wasted, continue on, change it if you have to, the Animation you have been working on can still be done! :)
I was thinking of this project of yours when that part came up. I do enjoy this version a whole lot more since it shows so much more emotion in it. Keep on working on this project man. Do not give up!
WarpOut, I just want to tell you that the whole time that I watched the premiere's scene involving the battle of the sisters, all I could think of was the animatic you're working so hard on. I'll admit, you had me worried for a moment when the folder got deleted, but I'm glad you're not giving up.

I knew you couldn't have deleted it for real. Not after you've spent this long on it. Even so, my biggest fear is having someone finish the same thing I'm making before I can. That's what sucks about making fan creations. Anyway, yours will still be amazing. You said it was in a different style, right? Not puppet animation. All hand drawn, frame by frame. That will make it it's own even though the canon version exists. And anyway, your vision being so similar to the canon should be a good thing. It's like confirmation that your artistic vision was good enough for the actual show, if not better, and shows how well you know the characters and their backstory. Congrats, yo.

I think you're doing it a hell of a lot better than Hasbro. I was like FINALLY! ACTION! THIS WILL BE EPIC! But then I realized... it IS meant to be a kids show. Seriously, yours has so much storyline, emotions and movement that one could feel like they are actually in it. But Hasbro put you on the edge of your seat only for you to be disappointed. Love your work so far!
