That old filter had certainly seen better days. New one is looking good though. Even though I'm unlikely to make use of them, I'm enjoying this series and they're nice and clear and easy enough to follow. If I did have to make these sorts of fixes, I'd feel fairly confident doing so via following your series, so a good set of _how to_ videos!
I have always used regular oil and haven't had any problems so far, but you are right that there is a tacky filter oil. Maybe I will try that next time and see if there is a difference. Thanks for watching. ~Mr. C

Regular oil will not work right, it is too thin and doesn't get tacky to catch dirt and everything else and will also come off the filter
