Thanks for your content bro, no stop, i going to see you more frecuently, apreciate it, Greetings from Peru
Thank you for your support and watching! It means a lot!
Never thought of this. Thank you x
You're welcome! I personally do this, and it works.
It must be telepathy, but I was considering Fiverr to design a blanket for me but was hesitating because there are many bad eggs there too. Then you bring out this video. Thanks, George. I'm now going to go there and buy.
Ohhh, perfect timing! And now you’ve got a code for money off too! I think the link in my description should automatically apply it, but if not, just add it during checkout to save some money.
As for the hesitation, I totally get it. Unfortunately, there are always a few bad eggs out there. It’s not the platforms themselves, just that sometimes you can’t avoid running into them. I always make sure to chat with the person beforehand. Rashida was super quick, which I really appreciated, so that’s why I went with her for this video.
Great video, George! Love this and your content.
Thank you! I really appreciate your support.
Heeeey you just saved me $10! Just in my head for the moment because what I usually purchase is $100 a pop. Thanks!
That’s awesome! I really appreciate that they were so kind to give everyone 10% off. Most companies don’t even bother replying to me, lol.
Yes! This is the video I was waiting for. 🙏🏽 I looked into this last year when you advised me to do it. There weren’t that many quality gigs to choose from as I recall. Looks like there are plenty now. I’ll have to check it out again. And now that I’m employed, I’ll actually be able to afford it. Thanks for this.👆🏽😁
Congrats on the job! Although, I still want to see your Etsy store flourish so you can eventually leave that behind. Shoot me an email when you get a chance. It’s been a while since we talked, and I’d love to hear what’s going on with your shop these days!
This is a great point! I can really see the difference with the examples you showed here. I will definitely adjust my listings like this. Just curious, with the new Etsy rules and guidelines about using real photos, is there any trick to making mockups that won't be flagged by the bots? It just has to look realistic?
If you can make the mockup look realistic enough, their AI system usually can't tell the difference between that and a real image. So, it really depends on how convincing the mockup looks. I always try to use real photos in my listings, but I understand that’s not always possible for everyone. The examples I’m showing are just for reference, to demonstrate how you want people to fully understand your item without needing to look beyond the pictures.
Is that a real Cat or Toy? How come she/he sits on a same exact spot that long with that much calmness? loved it
She's old, and the sun was shining on her. When I shoot at night, she's usually flipped upside down with her legs in the air, lol.

Thanks, George!! Another great video!!🎉❤ Thank you for the coupon too!😍
I tend to read a description whether its on amazon or etsy, if the information isn't in the images
You’re a rare find, sir. So many people just glance and leave, and each year people’s attention spans seem to get shorter and shorter. That’s why shorts are so successful-they capture attention quickly!
This is amazing! Do you really think Amazon style mockups will work for Etsy? To clarify... we'd need to do the process for mugs but purchase again for, say, blankets? Then again for Tshirts?
Yes, I do this for my stores. The reason is that people don’t really like to read anymore-they just focus on the pictures. So having all the key details in the image helps them make a decision quicker, rather than searching for product info.
I have info in picture slots of listings for that very reason. I wonder tho...the more minimal pics like what's on Amazon, without all the scenery in the background, just kinda plain. Think that'll work on Etsy? Most Etsy mockups have a beach, people, a tree, etc in the background of mockups.
Oh, absolutely! I agree, a more minimal white background would definitely stand out better on Etsy. The focus needs to be on the product, so it's crucial to choose a background that doesn’t distract from that. Keeping it simple helps draw attention to what you're selling.
When selling designs for tshirts, mugs, mouse pads, etc, is it better to have your primary listing photo with a watermark over the design then follow with mock ups? What do you recommend?
Honestly, these days people can easily remove watermarks with AI, so they don't offer much protection anymore. What I suggest instead is using a company like Spoonflower to submit your design. They provide you with a design number, which you can use to file appeals if someone tries to steal your work. It holds the same value as a copyright since it's an image you created.
@@EtsyMentor What do you recommend as a primary photo?
@@EtsyMentorWhat do you recommend as the primary photo?
It depends on what you're selling. Send me an email when you get a chance, and I can take a look at your shop and offer some advice.
Do you use these kinds of images as your main image too?
Yes, I do all my photos this way. A lot of people don’t bother reading the descriptions anymore, they just look at the pictures. So, if I can keep them engaged with my product and convince them to buy without needing to look elsewhere, then I’m golden. If they have to leave to find more information, you usually end up losing the sale.
@@EtsyMentor so text on the primary photo doesn't hurt rankings? I understand the logic for these kinds of photos after the primary photo. I thought etsy was prioritizing "organic" and "natural" photos on listings. Thanks for clarification 🫡
Yes, but you need to show what the actual product would look like with a real image. You can't just use a square that says "Add Text Here" or "Your Picture Here." That goes against the new policy. Also, as long as the image looks real enough, it fools their AI.
Hi George, I can't find Rashida on Fiverr, would you have a direct link pls?
I updated the description and included her direct URL for you. She's very nice and quick to respond!
I have only made three sales, and despite running ads on Etsy, I’ve had very limited visits. Can you help me with any suggestions?
Send me an email, EtsyMentors@gmail
Please tell me why Etsy are charging shipping costs? They are not providing the shipping and therefore do not have any costs to recoup. The seller is paying for the shipping and recoups through their pricing and if the seller is doing POD then they are being charged by their print provider which is part of the costs the seller has to pay to them (print provider) which then the seller can recoup through their sales price. Etsy is not providing this service and yet we are expected to pay them for it, how can this be?
I hope you can answer this for me.
USPS, UPS, FedEx, or DHL are the ones charging you to ship an item, not Etsy. To ship, you need to pay one of these couriers, and Etsy has no control over their fees. Now, if you're referring to the small percentage Etsy charges on shipping, that’s due to some sellers abusing the system in the past. Years ago, people would sell items for $0.25 and charge $50 for shipping to avoid paying Etsy fees. That’s why Etsy now charges a small fee on shipping prices. If you offer free shipping, there’s no fee.
@@EtsyMentor Thank you so much for replying and explaining.
sorry if it's a dumb question, so it's 90 for a pack of images only for one listing, right?
Each gig varies, but for the one I used, it was $90 for 7 listing photos, and it included the source file. So, for example, if I were selling blankets and had 50 different ones, I could easily swap out the pictures and apply the same design to the files she provided.
So $90 for 7 pictures. Who can afford that? What if it doesn’t sell?
It's $90 for 7 photos, and you also get the source file. So, if you have 36 similar items (1 full Etsy page) and swap out the pictures, it breaks down to just $0.36 per photo.
are you allowed to add text in the thumbnail after the huge etsy update?
Yes, but you need to show what the actual product would look like with a real image. You can't just use a square that says "Add Text Here" or "Your Picture Here."
Why do some Amazon listings have pictures that have backgrounds and the rule is just a plain white background? I think I could sell more if I had a listing with a AI background Thanks!
She included the source file, so you can easily switch the background around. Some items might look better with a white background, while others may pop more with a darker one. It really depends on what you’re selling. I was just showing off how she managed to create such an awesome design based on my terrible drawings, lol!
@@EtsyMentor What I mean is that I thought we HAD to have a white background. Are sellers allowed to put their own backgrounds on? I’ve seen them and thought they have a special account.
Love your content, I never miss an episode
Ohhh, yes! You can use any background you like, but just make sure it doesn’t distract from the product itself. You want the product to stand out and grab attention, not the background.
And thank you so much for your support, I truly appreciate it! If you ever have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask-I’m always here and happy to help!
@@LisaRaysor Its for the main listing image they see in searches that is supposed to be white. Edit and I think some categories can have other main images. The categories and what you sell are not equal, some have higher seller fees too.
