Honestly you could make a video just about the top 15 grand seikos
Honestly could 😂 thanks for watching as always buddy!
I could easily list at least 15 GS. And it wouldn't be an easy choice as some great watches wouldn't make the cut.
This should have been called Seiko and Friends 😂
Orient, seiko, citizen and Casio. Dominating the affordable watch world lol
Teddy, you just earned my respect. Japanese watches are the epitome of function and value. Yes, they did not make a complication for a Faberge egg, but these are real watches for real people. Nicely done.
Honesty to me I think the grand seiko Snowflake is 1 of the most beautiful watches in the world. And That sweeping hand of the spring drive is unreal
What do you mean snowflake 1? The pre-rebrand SBGA011 or the current SBGA211?
@@gsgleason yes and SBGA407. Live the grand seiko dive watch aslo. Just think it's a fraction of the Luxury brands. It's a no brainier on grand seiko 👍
Absolutely agree with you here...
There are multiple GS Watches pulling me away from pulling the trigger on a Rolex 114300 (as my first Watch purchase over ~$300), and that'd be one of em... Absolutely STUNNING Dials, LOVE those sharp Hands, and the Spring Drive really does seem like a hell of a movement.
And considering you buy a Watch for YOURSELF and not others, I honestly don't give a fuck about the "status of having a Rolex" blah blah fucking blah which pulls me that much closer to one of the GS Models.
@@idonotexist_ buy the grand seiko man. With that spring drive movement 1 of the best movements in the world. I love the grand seiko titanium dive watch also. I absolutely love love titanium lol
@@idonotexist_ Test them first. GS doesn't have adjustable bracelets and it can be difficult to find a good fit. Rolex is superior when it comes to bracelet and finding a good fit. GS cases aren't for everyone either.
As much as people want to go against the Rolex hype, there are things that they do really good.
The Citizen Chandler really is incredible. On leather, it has this indistinguishable perfection when worn. Keeps particularly great time and one of the finest quartz movements you can buy. 10/10 would highly recommend.
Those Grand Seiko dials man... Can't get bored of them!
Excellent video Teddy. The quality coming out of Japan is next level and I appreciate you expanding our watch world. Keep up the good work.
I’m just really getting deep into watches and I have been binging all your videos. There is a whole new world to watches that I wasn’t aware of.
Also try IDGuy, Timeless Watch Channel, Bark&Jack
RIP your bank account :)
Me 2, been enjoying this process
@@Valera_Scotland Thank you for the selection
Thanks Teddy, love the content as always.
Man the dial on that Seiko Spb169 is beautiful! Great video as usual.
Good to see you finally plug your 2nd channel.
Hey Teddy, great list! Only noticeable omission to me was the new line of Seiko Prospex divers, the SPB143, 145 and 157.
The case and lug proportions, not to mention the finishing and movements, on those things are absolutely perfect for the price (around $1200).
Teddy , thank you for continue to share such good content going into 2021 . The orient Neo 70s is a stunner and I got to know this watch (might get it in Amazon) from you !
Happy New Year Teddy! Great content as always, thank you!! Liking the mention of the Sharp Edge (SBP169) and the GS Soko. A Grand Seiko only installment would be fun to watch!
Just getting in to watches and you sold me on the Seiko SRPE57. I got it and I love it! I’m enjoying your videos and this new hobby!
Crazy. I've been looking for a "beater" field watch - one I can set and forget - and was considering the Chandler. Then here comes Teddy with a walk-off home run for the first featured piece. It's the push I needed to settle on this piece. Thanks.
Hi Teddy, Great to see some comforting watches today. I love the Citizen Chandler.
Agreed! Why have I NOT picked one up yet???
that rose grand seiko ... what a beautiful watch. blown away. I can just look at it for hours.
Great selections and your usual impeccable presentation.
You really put Grand Seiko on my radar... taking design to a new level that stodgy, getting boring Swiss watches rarely do anymore.
Thank you for mentioning and showcasing Orient watches. I’m a huge fan of Orient, truly under-rated but a super valued watch. I swear by Orient Kano, wear like a 42mm. Stay safe.
Thanks for including Citizen. I have a warm spot in my heart for them.
I agree that quartz might be the way to go with a GMT. I'm about to pull the trigger on a Rotary GMT, and the quartz movement was actually a positive for me this time.
Great content as always
Thanks my friend!
Hey Teddy! Enjoy your channel a lot. Got a couple of seiko presages. I’m saving for a nomos hopefully this year. Hope you have a great year brother!
Your recent content has been outstanding Teddy and I love this one too. One small point: when you included the Seiko SPB169 (green dial), I was surprised you showed this model and not the white dial (SPB165) it the blue (SPB167). Those two are much more attractive and versatile than the green.
Teddy you're the man, keep it up!!
Thanks, Ethan!
Arigatou for the list, Teddy-san!
Great video! Really love Grand Seiko!
Citizen is very underrated. I have had a daily wearer Eco-Drive for 7 years and have never missed a beat. It is incredibly accurate and I have never had to worry about winding or replacing batteries.
As per usual...great pieces and detailed presentation. Have you ever done a segment on how to properly maintain automatic/manual time pieces? Do you suggest having them stored in a self-winding box or just wind prior to use? Curious to know your take. Thanks!
I got an orient defender 2 a couple months back and I've really liked it. The only criticism I have is the 24hr complication is basically useless because the thin red hand is poorly legible (especially in lower light scenarios) or just covered by the min/hour hands. But otherwise it has served well.
The sweeping seconds on those GS spring drives is just freakin mesmerizing 😍
Pretty thorough rundown
Great video, very informative 👍
Hi Teddy, my name is Zack and I just stumbled upon your videos today. I love the in formative videos and the attention to details. I saw the one where you go to different stores and pick up watches and couldn't help but notice the Ohio plates. I happen to work at an AD in North East Ohio and I believe we have a big selection of watches and would love to see you in the store one day and talk watches.
As a recent watch enthusiast and long time weeb, I appreciate this video
Thanks for the heads up on your other channel!
Hi Teddy, like your videos and reviews. You're a great connoisseur and expert when it comes to watches and have in-depth knowledge.
You've talked about multiple brands but I've never seen one on Stienhart. Is it something you've done in the past, that I've missed or any other reason for not doing it?
Enjoyed the video, Teddy 👍
You actually featured the same Cocktail Time "77" that I bought late last year, awesome.
For several years, the Rolex DEEPSEA SEA-DWELLER (116660) was my grail watch. That all changed when I discovered the Grand Seiko SBGE248 ($11,500 US).
As always great vid. Would like to see other country watches German, England, etc. also some micro watch makers.
Cheers
Really great vid! Still loving my old Citizen Skyhawk Atomic with eco drive in stainless steel. It's a very reliable workhorse of a tank watch.
I'm really liking the Seiko Sharp Edge series! Some beautiful watches there. Looking at the SPB167 atm, stunning!
I recently bought the SPB169 - I personally love the green dial with the gold second hand combination (it is GS-esque). Pictures do not do it justice. It absolutely sparkles in the light and in low light looks black. With improvements to the band, it is a great package whatever color you choose. I have enjoyed mine, go for it!
Happy new year!!! Looking to get the Neo70 and sbgc201!!
Great video. 👍
Just got a Sumo 6r35 this week, impressed with it so far 👍🏻👍🏻
Good shit, as per usual
Great job Teddy.
Just bought an Orient Defender. Love it!
I would add Casio, highly popular and great watches for their intended use/value prop.
Yep, wearing a Casio Lineage as I read this! Sapphire crystal, atomic sync, solar, applied markers, good lume, analog/digital, solid link bracelet for not a lot of $$$
@@toddtannenbaum7092 I wish I'd have seen that watch last year when I bought myself one for my 30th birthday. I ended up with an Edifice with sapphire and tough solar
@@nationharris Edifice tough solar is a fantastic watch, enjoy!
I own both the Seiko SNK803 and the Citizen BM8180 Chandler that you showed, and the 'set it and forget it' aspect of the Eco Drive has made it one of my most-worn watches. I love that little watch! Still love the Seiko, but the Citizen gets the wrist time!
I agree 👍
Please do a detailed review of the Seiko Captain Willard with all its different variants(Dial colours, strap & bracelet)
This is the episode I have been waiting for! Japan not just deserves to be IN the conversation, other than Switzerland it IS the conversation. All respect due to Germany, France and USA but Switzerland and Japan are the masters.
Teddy your the man!
Glad to see the Citizen GMT Titanium Eco-Drive on your list... a beast of a watch that wears like a 40mm. Should be on everyone's diver radar!
Would like to see a review of a Citizen Chronomaster. The paper dial version is very intriguing and beautiful to look at.
Stellar review
Great video.
6:39 I've had this beauty for almost two weeks and I can't say anything bad about it on the contrary, I haven't been so pleasantly surprised by a Japanese watch for a long tim,in the pictures it doesn't look bad at all, but, in reality ... dreamy! That green is insanely beautiful (well, I personally like the color very much) and this in combination with the dial with those geometric shapes ... wow very beautiful this is in addition to the fact that it is very well made in general and the mechanism is quite accurate and with at least a decent level of finish! Yes, a really good Japanese watch.
I love that Citizen Promaster GMT Eco-Drive in titanium. If it were 40mm, I’d certainly get one.
Sbga415 is my grail!! Awesome video 👌🏽
I'm very afraid that I'll have a separate Cocktail Time collection beside my "standard" one. They're just so eye catching!
Waiting for my SBGA415 to come in! Can’t wait!
I love that Grand Seiko chrono.
The first watch my wife bought me was the Citizen Chandler... once I changed the strap it has become my favorite watch.
Great list I love my Orient Mako USAII and my SNK Seiko 5
It would be interesting to see a video of japanese micro-brands, I guess there are a bunch of them
I really want to expand my watch collection but lowkey I just wanna save up for a GS spring drive.
Would love to see a review from you on the Seiko Alpinist SPB121J.
Hi Teddy, I would love you to talk about Minase and compare it to other Japanese watch brands ! It is a newcomer but the quality is amazing and the display of traditional Japanese crafts and techniques mesmerizing 😍
Personally, I think Grand Seiko SLGH003 should be included in your list, the watch looks stunning plus the novel mechanical movement "9S5A."
Oo Credor is a good one! Seiko’s answer to the likes of the big three 👀
Seiko SPB143! Was great to see a 40.5mm Diver this year
I have 15 Citizen watches and absolutely love them. All of them had a sapphire Crystal and two are titanium. I have one titanium watch that is an Exceed that is amazing. I think this particular watch is as nice as some of the Cartiers I have seen.
Teddy, amazing video! Whats your opinion about Seiko Astron SSH067J1?
Seiko, Citizen, Orient, and Bulova are my faves.
Absolutely trying to hunt down a Grand Seiko SBGA429 Soko. My favorite Grand Seiko by far.
In my opinion the BM7430-89A from Citizen should be included. Solar Quarz, Saphire and full Titanium for under 200€. Blue, Black and White. In my opinion the best budget watch (although not automatic)
Gf gave me a orient bambino v2 for Christmas love it
You should do a video about best non Swiss watches. Or like best watch per country of origin, with few variations on price range.
I’m a bit surprised Teddy didn’t include the Grand Seiko Grey Beast (sbgv245) in this video. While a bit pricey it is considered by many experts as the world standard of quartz watches in terms of accuracy, design, and value retention.
I know that this doesn't include any digital timepieces, but can you consider doing a Top 10/15 digital watches? There's plenty of good brands to look around like Casio Vintage/Edifice/G-Shock line, Timex, Citizen, Seiko, Hamilton etc.
Citizen Tsuno Chrono Racer. The E210 / 2100 caliber movement is rock solid. And it's hard to resist the horns...
If we’re still discussing discontinued models, the Orient Titanium fer2f004w0 is a real stunner for the price. Difficult to find but it pops up on Reddit on occasion
I would add any one of the three Citizen Caliber 0100 watches, if you can get your hands on one as they are limited editions. The white gold version with leather strap is so delectable. The real draw is THAT Eco-Drive quartz calibre: +/- 1 second per year.
Teddy,
FWIW, your employee, Gabe, who helped me on the phone, is a gentleman and a professional.
Great video, although it is hard to talk about the best watches coming out of Japan without mention “The Citizen” line, and especially the crazy accurate Citizen Cal. 0100 that is accurate to +/- 1 second per year
The jounetsu model in the The Citizen tier is something out of this world 👍
Good call!
I like that affordable quartz field watch citizen.
I think the new Alpinists should get some love they’re so versatile, a great one watch collection !
I recommend taking a look at the Orient Star Re-Au0004b00b, Au0006s00b and the blue dial version (don't know the reference number)
Great list! If you haven't had a chance to check SRPD97J1 in person, please do. I wager you'd include it in this list. No photo online does it justice!
You gotta review the $50 star king mechanical dress watch!
Any thoughts on the seiko presage ssa395j1? Do I add it to my collection or hold off and try to get a pre-owned grand seiko? Or should I have a different piece for my first $1,000 plus watch (not including my smartwatch). Any suggestions for someone in their first 6 months of their watch collection?
The Seiko turtle watch for me is the best I Am using mine since 1979, my dad bought it in 1969👍💕
I'm guessing you're saving all the G- Shocks for another video :)
He said no digital watches in the beginning
@@Arezanify My bad I skipped straight to the watches haha! Though not all Casio's are digital and he did allow quartz
For those less fortunate (like myself) who would like a nice watch and still affording to put food on the table I can also recommend Seiko SUR311. Tons of value for the money :)
Price: < $ 250 | Case size: 40.2 mm | Thickness: 8.4 mm | Water resistance: 100 M | Movement: Quartz 6N52 | Crystal: Sapphire
You should get your hands on the Citizen Chronomaster with the washi paper dial. AQ4070-05A
Definitely some distraction needed today !
Love this list. Awesome video. Are there any independent & small Japanese watch brands? Genuinely curious.
1. Hajime Asaoka/Kurono
2. Masahiro Kikuno
3. Kikuchi Nakagawa
4. Minase
5. Naoya Hida

I love my Orient Neptune. Best affordable diver for the money.
Just do a series on top grand seiko! The peacock, Kiki, skyflake, etc.
Been loving with Orient.
