Great video and glad to see Manchester trying to develop civic pride. Miles ahead of other English cities, of comparable size, in terms of developing a clean, decent place to visit with striking modern architecture. Long may it continue!
Trying to develop civic pride? What complete and utter crap. Manchester is the worlds oldest industrial city and civic pride was instilled hundreds of years ago….what a silly thing to say, try saying that to a true Mancunian and they’d be extremely offended.
Hi, I'm very interested in purchasing rights to use this footage as a landing page video loop for my website - where can I purchase this? I can't find it on the website in your video description. Thank you.
British cities, for the most part, seem to lack properly defined 'old towns' as one would find across the Continent. Everything seems so modern, at least superficially speaking. At a glance, Manchester and Birmingham, for example, look like run-of-the-mill American cities. Excellent aerial panoramic views.
If you want old see Bath, Salisbury, Winchester, York, Shrewsbury, London, Oxford, Stamford, Warwick, Chester, Lincoln etc. Cities like Manchester and Birmingham were largely founded on the Industrial Revolution and only really developed in the late 19th century.
@@KDanes Perhaps I was not sufficiently clear as I was referring to 'large' cities, not to small towns or villages/hamlets, the latter being naturally more likely to remain largely frozen in some bygone age. Again, it would appear that, for the most part, large British cities lack properly defined medieval cores.
@@valsainking Manchester was founded by the Romans in AD79 as Mamucium, a fort in today's Castlefield area. Some excavated and reconstructed remains are evident. The medieval core was about a mile north from here, buildings which survive in part or complete are Hanging Bridge (14thC), Cathedral (collegiate church) and Chethams Library (both 15thC). The medieval street plan was largely disturbed and redeveloped during the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. So you're largely correct but I'm not sure why you think this is a problem. Manchester, Birmingham etc are products of a momentous period in world history - the Industrial Revolution, they grew rapidly and swept away much of the past with it. They are marvels of that age. There's plenty of medieval stuff in England - the small cathedral cities and many market towns.
It is Both mate, Manchester is a City in England and the UK ( United Kingdom) as England is a part of the UK, oh to make thing more awkward Manchester is a City in Great Britain, to put thing in context England, Great Britain and the UK are but one with one flag for all the Union Jack.
@@peterwilliamallen1063 Ha, you have read and understood it totally wrong sorry. If you refer to Manchester, England then you use an English flag, if you refer to it as Manchester , UK then you use the British flag…no ifs or buts thats the way it is. The Union Flag does not represent the country of England.it represents the United Kingdom.
@@peterwilliamallen1063 also, Great Britain and the UK are different geographical terms used to describe different places, to totally different places they are NOT the same. The UK is composed of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Great Britain is totally different to the UK, Great Britain is the Island of Britain encompassing England, Scotland and Wales as well as some islands around the coast but does not include Northern Ireland. Its people like you that don’t know whats what who are just like the poster of the video, you end up getting it wrong because you don’t know the correct geographical terms that are used to represent different areas and aspects of the country you call home.
@@chrispaw1 Yep, I know that mate, I was answering the question that The city of Manchester can be referred to as being in England, Great Britain or the UK. Look at a UK Passport it explains everything
This kind of development should have been planned development. Instead it has been left up to who buys the land to do what he likes. They have stuck to the old street plan which evolved around low rise buildings but now totally unsuited to high rise construction. I looks awful.

HI, I'm making a documentary about Manchester and was wondering if I could use this footage with credit?

When was this filmed? It doesn't look like 2023 to me. More like spring/summer 2022, some 10 months ago.

Ridiculous comment...you lack knowledge . If you want old towns then there's hundreds of old market towns all across the country

The title says Manchester, England but with a UK flag🇬🇧….either its Manchester , England 🏴or Manchester, UK 🇬🇧….

Is manchester not in the UK?
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
No doubt, they razed victorian Manchester to build that sea of modernity.
Kalah jauh kalau di bandingkan dengan kota kota di Asia,
Yeah far less pollution, poverty, misery, caste systems and death.
İngiltere ve İskoçya bana çok kasvetli ve sıkıcı geliyor neden bilmiyorum ama bir türlü sevemedim
100 Embankment is in Salford, not Manchester.
😢🆘🆘🆘 The catastrophe of the transport infrastructure in UK paralyzes industry and finance. Archimedes XXI century 😇.

Looks more natural IMO. Regular grids are worse.
