This popped up in my feed, and as soon as I saw emu, I knew I needed to see it! I was not disappointed! Great video! This may sound silly, but I didn't know they were able to communicate right from the egg.

I didn’t know anything about emus until I gift them other than they can live 30 plus years. It has all been a learning experience and I still am learning. They whistle to each other and even have a panic whistle when they are scared or upset.

They sure will. I’ve met some amazing people so far that are taking some of these sweeties home. It’s been such a joy.

Oh that is for sure a blonde

That little blonde is going to be cute - very tempting to get a blonde from you. Let me know as things progress. Harry is doing great - he's living with two Polish chickens who keep getting stepped on by the big emus and he tries to snuggle up with them - pretty cute.

This is the second blonde and they have both been adorable. I’m pretty happy about it as you can imagine. I’m keeping my hopes up for a white too!
I saw your video yesterday of Harry with the Polish. I think you said her name is Cutie??? I think that is adorable. You never know they may be the best of friends for years to come.

@@MorningGloryRanchTexas I was thinking the same thing - BFF's - that would be pretty cute.

You picking the shell that way has made it difficult for the baby to get out. Do you know what your doing really. I’m shocked 😮😮😮

How exactly does removing 2 pieces of shell it already broke through, and that are lose, make it difficult for the emu chick to get out of the shell? Emu do not shrink wrap like other poultry.

I’ve bred birds chickens ducks geese pheasants peacocks. My mum used to do that. The chicks pip the egg. So they can breathe. The egg sack will nourish them for 24 hours. Pulling away the shell they can’t grip properly to break the remaining shell. I noticed one of the chicks was really fluffy. It hinders there way out of the egg. They use the shell to hatch. Push to break the egg. ❤❤. This is just my observation over 50 years of breeding birds. ❤❤

@@warrenbutler8990 Emu do not have an egg tooth and do not unzip the egg like other birds. They also do not shrink wrap (the membrane does not stick to the chick from opening the “lid” of the shell). They smash through the egg with the aid of the pipping muscle of the neck. They will often sit for hours with part of the shell fallen away and/or off all on their own as part of the hatching process. I did not remove any part
of the membrane that wasn’t already dried up and brittle and done nourishing the chicks. Parts of the chick get “fluffy” all on their own as a result of how they hatch even when nobody touches them during the whole process.

@@MorningGloryRanchTexas Hi I’m sorry if I offended you in anyway. I know emu chicks are different. And I know they pip the egg as they need to. I just got surprised at how much she’ll was taken away. I’m only speaking from experience. My mum doing this killed many of my chicks because there egg sack wasn’t absorbed. I agree emu chicks are so different. They still use the egg to break free with there feet. We both know that. I just was shocked at seeing how much was away from the shell. I know you weren’t hurting them because if you were the membrane would of bleed. I’m so sorry if I offended you or any of the people who subscribe. I think your doing a wonderful wonderful thing. We need more people in the world like you. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹🙏🙏🙏🙏

@@warrenbutler8990 aww thanks so much. I wasn’t offended. I just wanted to make sure you understood that emus are a little different than other birds. I love every minute I get to spend with these chicks and truly feel blessed to be there for them when they enter the world. Thank you for watching and I hope you will continue to follow the journey of all the animals on this little ranch.
