While normally a speaker revisit would be filmed in my listening room I wanted to show you guys how I used these and the real reason I find them useful and wroth buying. For a dedicated listening room hard pass on these, but for TV/Movies they are one of the best in my book for a 2ch tv setup.
So which one for a dedicated listening room? Thanks
@@YamilLlanos depends on your personal taste, I prefer Buchardt S400 MK2.
Finally someone with a bit of sanity in the world of 'hifi'.
The decor is amazing 😍
Thanks bro! Some great ideas & creative audio thinking!
Thank you for this... I'll be home theater shopping for the next year +/- and your channel is the best resource i stumbled upon, bar none.
thank you bro, I'm happy to help. we have a free discord if you want to join, link is in most videos description
Hey Nemo, thanks for all the insights to your H.T. entertainment rig. Looks great overall and glad you're happy with the sonic results.
Hey Leroy! Always cool to see you around! Yeah, I'm just happy I can use my living room now, before it was just a useless room.
I have a similar setup in the living room but with Klipsch 600ms. Thanks for the tip on Star Trek…I’ll check it out
For the past six evenings, I pull my Chora inch by inch forward to avoid wifey noticing and it is now 13 inches from the back wall. Sound is much clearer and I understand why you said It is good at low volume listening. I am still not getting enough depth though, maybe another inch tonight.
🙂
Edit: I am using the system both for movie/TV and music. Used to have 5.1, but far more happy with my current 2.1.
Hey chickenceo! So depth is a weird thing for me because I'm not very good at picking up on it unless it's a speaker that is really just crazy good with it like the LS50 Meta, the sense of depth and distance is something a deaf person would notice on those. For every other speaker it seems to be highly placement related and content related. Even where you sit can play a big role. If you can add 4-5 degrees of rake to the Chora that might help a touch.
@@NemoPropaganda Me too, I can tell if the sound from coming from left or right (which most everyone can) but not fore or aft. Interestingly, sometimes I find the singer higher up in front like standing on the stage and sometimes I find the vocal lower almost like sitting in front. I will experimenting with slant as you suggest and report. Really appreciate your time and effort to make your channel so interactive. Thank you!
@@chickenceo have you considered buying or downloading an audiophile training/familiarisation CD? I have one that displays a good rendition of depth. You can hear the instruments at the back of a large studio, as well as the vocalist much closer to the front , where the mic is.
@@heywoodjablome5630 Thank you! Didn’t know there is something like that. I no longer have CD player, but let me check if Spotify have something similar. 🙂
@@chickenceo definitely on spotify. I google-searched "chesky ultimate demonstration disc" and there was a Spotify link
Great video... I live with a challenging space. I dig what you did.
aye! welcome to the challenging space club.
@@NemoPropaganda I usually do off axis-critical listening while moving around my isobaroic chambers ..I mean rooms. Lol. I enjoy your reviews on subs. You got a great ear. 👍
@@thomasstanfel7589 thank you my dude, I appreciate the kind words.
Fun video!
Cheers Nemo,, 🍻😎👍!
I use large speakers for my television and a sizeable centre speaker connected to the av amp.
Spoken word clarity is a pita when using the television speakers.
And I'm getting older. Still a young 57, though. Hearing.
Thanks - Been hunting for pure dialog clarity speakers. Have you tried the center that goes with these ?
I didn't feel the need to any further complexity and thought it might look too congested on the media console so I have not.
Dude it looks pretty good to me! I have my speakers on stands flanking the TV and it’s an imperfect solution as well - the screen messes up the soundstage and imaging unless the speakers are pulled out to the point where it’s not aesthetically pleasing.
I actually like the pulled out look, that's how my main room is that you see in most videos but I'm also a bachelor and don't have to worry about anyone bumping into them which helps a lot.
@@NemoPropaganda I start to sweat every time the kids get close to my 906. No choice, had to put them against the wall!
@@marc-andregagne6826 I assume you keep the grills on?
@@NemoPropaganda no way, those flax cones are meant to be on display
@@marc-andregagne6826 I see you like to live dangerously!
Always look forward to your videos! Especially appreciate the Glockenwoofer center channel! Although I prefer the Sig P320 center channel and my wife likes the HK VP9 SK surround sound
Those seem to be great concealed options, I went with something more full size to avoid blowing out my ears at the range. I double up on hearing protection and I still get worried I'm killing my ears. That's the main reason I stopped using rifles.
@@NemoPropaganda Absolutely protect that hearing! Damn That mag you have!!!
@@NemoPropaganda shoot suppressed. best thing ever!! lol
@@kingjj6000 wish I could, I live in California, straight to jail for any suppressors out here. It's so annoying.
@@NemoPropaganda damn that suck man. All I do is shoot suppressed now.
Hey Nemo, any idea if this set-up would work with the MA Bronze 100 + something like the Yamaha RS202? Appreciate your opinion
Yes! That should be a great combination.
Interesting. You use no shock absorbers and place the rear ported speakers so close to the back wall... are the bass frequencies not boomy and too much this way?
Its not a bass heavy speaker. But it does extend low. The room is big so extra bass is welcome. Also this is not for music. Just TV and Movies on netflix and stuff like that so the eq is set to +2db bass also!
@@NemoPropaganda great! Thanks for the reply. I'm looking for an all-rounder (movies+music) in my rather small room (8*10feet), where the speaker would be approx 5.5-6 feet apart. MA do not recommend placing them this close, so I guess I'll stick with the Focal Chora 806's.
Chora is really good too! I have both :)
Could you fit a KEF KC62 on top of that tv cabinet? Im thinking of doing something similar myself
Yes, you can also fit the SVS 3000 Micro up there. I did it with both and it was awesome! I think I posted a pic of it on my community page. If my KC62 was white that's where I'd have it and I'd have used the smaller Bronze 50 instead.
@@NemoPropaganda did you get any vibrations through your tv cabinet with the subwoofer on top? That's one thing that would concern me with my tv unit.
Also what subwoofer do you think worked best with movies? Svs 3000 micro or KEF KC62?
@@hclandscapes no vibrations at all since both are force cancelling designs but the bass itself probably could shake some things if you've got some paper clips or hairpins laying around then again I've got all kinds of crap in the drawers of that cabinet and I didn't hear a single vibration or rattle. The KEF was better for sure, it's double the price so no surprise there. At half the price the Micro 3000 is a great alternative especially for those who want the most SPL.
Have you ever tried the Focal aria 906 with that setup?
Yeah, it sounds good but would be a waste to buy them just for that kind of setup.
Think the Monitor silver series is on par or significantly better than these for dialog/movies ?
not sure, have not heard the silvers.
Could you possibly review the Quad S2 and Quad S4 speakers? Not many reviews out there :D
Hey FPSKiller, probably not my bro, I'm in the USA and they are literally double the price here :(. Also console>pc 😜
@@NemoPropaganda Wow really? I wouldn't mind sending out my pair for you to test if you'd like to.
Looking forward!
Nice, err I need a little help on purchase advice,so I've recently been on a hunt for a 5.1 system, and currently I'm considering either the svs prime pinnacle, prime bookshelf, prime center, and SB3000,on the other hand I'm also considering the monitor Audio bronze 500, bronze 100 bookshelf, Bronze c150 ,and the svs sb3000,but comparison almost same price ,but I'm super confused which to go for,I love clearity, but not the in your face kinda clearity,I love tight sweet slapping bass, and I really really want white speakers, but there's not a lot of reviews on the monitor audio bronze 500 and other series, and now my amazon shopping cart is on hold because I'm still not sure which to go for,so please,I'll really need an advice.
And oh I'll be pairing either of the speakers I go for with the yamaha Rx v6A and the outlaw model 5000 for the two front channels.
This is an easy one because the MA don't come in a real white. Look carefully at my video, notice the MA Bronze 100 front baffle, it's not white!! This is something that kind of pissed me off, the front is gray and the sides are white. So that makes your decision easy, you want white go with SVS :)
@@NemoPropaganda okay, thank you super much
Is your tv set to stereo or surround sound ?
Stereo.
How to use the entries in this box?
I don't understand your comment, please retype it.
Disagree that they are second to none with respect to voices in the price range. That accolade goes to the Quad S-2s (Bro, if you haven't tried a ribbon tweeter yet, you ought to). However, the trade-off would be bass impact which would be higher in the MA 100s. Great Vid as usual!
Try the Mission QX-2s next if you can. One of the best VFM speakers, not unlike the MA's.
Oh, and the build quality will blow you away!
P.S. - No lip effect due to the MA's being recessed back in the cabinet? aesthetically pleasing for sure but not if you're a sound whore ;)
I have tried a few ribbons and I'm not a fan personally. I get why people like them but I don't care for the effect they produce. Also for us here in the US Quad S2 is double the price, $1200usd for Quad S2, $675 for Monitor Audio Bronze 100 :(.
@@NemoPropaganda - I totally get not being a fan of ribbons. Can be a little too direct for some so while undeniably great with voices, the overall presentation may not be to everyone’s liking unless voiced in a non-typical manner.
Do try the Mission QX2 if you can. A great product which is widely available but not getting the recognition it deserves (at least that’s what I believe but would love to have your take in the matter). Same parent company as Quad viz. IAG.
Thats a shame about the S2 pricing - in india not too long ago (where im from… btw, your vids are a hit on hifivision.com - a hifi forum out here), they were going approx 650USD. Heck, i got the Quad S5s for 1600usd.
If you had more space you could look into Magnepan LRS speakers.
@@darpanbhuyan1909 yeah i'd be more eager if the price was lower, it's not uncommon to see a 15-25% difference but these are 100% more, It just feels like a scam.
Try decapo ref 3A
I think it would be a bit of waste to put any speaker over a $1000 in such an unideal position.
