      Those who like the Force Awakens and praise it, and don't know about A New Hope ( The movie it's based upon) isn't a Star Wars fan, and is just following the herd.

    Lucas. This was revolutionary. If you don't understand that, get how he changed everything in movies, you never used a rotary phone and then a brick cell, then a flip, then a smartphone. Lucas was the brick phone.

    Some of the people at ILM talked about these people coming by their office in that new Disney Plus Light & Magic documentary. Mentioned that all those measuring gizmos for doing stop animation were just a prank by one of the people lol.

    Did Cronkite really invoke "The Black Hole" at 1:25 as a cutting-edge technological film? *titter*

    John Dykstra only worked on the first Star Wars movie. He didn't do the sequels however? Lucas suing Universal over Battlestar Galactica's supposed similarities to Star Wars and attitudes between them, didn't attract Dykstra to come along and do Empire or Jedi sadly. Like they said, John Dykstra later worked on Star Trek: The Motion Picture afterwards instead!

      MGSBigBoss77 I think Lucas didn’t invite him. They seemed to have had a falling out.

      +King Kazma His head got too big for his body. The unfortunate side of Lucas is that he is an egomaniac and the bigger and more mythical the franchise grew, the bigger and more mythical his ego grew. It had gotten to the point that by the late 1990's when he was preparing to shoot Episode I, he felt that he didn't owe anything to the fans and that if they wanted to see another Star Wars film it was going to be on his own terms; the picture he wanted to show them, not the one they wanted to see. He tried far too hard to turn it into a suspense thriller and interweave back alley dealings and politics in with the Star Wars mythos. When it became clear that he was plummetting back to Earth, he began compiling mistake after mistake and insisting on having COMPLETE creative control over every aspect of the prequel trilogy to the point of being a dictator on the set and what we were left with in the wake of it all was three films so bad, that I haven't yet made my young, Star Wars loving kids watch them yet for fear of 1.) having them turn their backs on the entire franchise because they're is so bad and 2.) I just don't want to watch them again. The best thing in the world for Star Wars was when Disney came in and bought it out from Lucas. I did find it hilarious to find out that in a last ditch effort to maintain some kind of creative control over the franchise that he presented Disney with three stories he had written to act as Episodes VII through IX expecting they would just snatch up every drop of golden ink from his illustrious pen and thank him for every thought-provoking word. Instead, he was given a no thanks and told they are going to make new Star Wars movies for the fans.

      +Jon Morris Too bad for Disney. They should have taken Lucas up on his offer. The new movie is absolutely terrible. I just saw it and I felt the Lucas sized void in the entire movie.

    • @jedijones
      @jedijones 8 років тому +8

      +Jon Morris Wrong, Lucas asked for a lot of help from other writers he trusted for Episode 1 and everyone turned him down. Everyone at that time thought Lucas could do no wrong and had total faith in him. He did improve on every mistake with each subsequent episode.
      Now from Disney and Abrams, we get a movie that pretends to be pandering to the fans but in reality is just another cut-and-paste rip-off job from J.J. Abrams. He knows he doesn't have a creative bone in his body and actually sells every one of his movies as being some brilliant ode to the fans because it will soullessly copy scenes from old material. Remember when the entire marketing campaign for Super 8 was that it copied old Spielberg films? Sorry, Disney, that's not what the fans want. ESB didn't copy anything from ANH and was the best film.

      Kevin Korrekt My guess is that those are either very good artist renderings (not photos), or else they're snapshots of the models just sitting there, before any actual _animation_ shooting is done. (?)

    Yes, these little movies "just may" one day inspire a new generation of scientists and space interest in general... It only took over from NASA for the last 30 odd years while the moon landing wore off!
    Had to laugh at some of the prophetic statements in this one...
