The Empire Strikes Back is a masterpiece. The Star Wars saga didn’t get any better.
I love how Carrie didn't have any scenes to shoot in the snow but she chose to stick around to support and annoy the cast anyways. Really goes to show the kindness and wonder of her character. RIP Carrie, you are sorely missed

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe that's why they did it in more ways than one we have to be method acting we really want this potentially cringe-inducing scene work. So let's get busy in more ways than one. They did make it work though.
It's obvious to me that George Lucas knew the Harrison/Carrie chemistry was SO strong that he was worried they would outshine Mark Hamill. I mean, look at the original extended version of their kiss in this video. They cut out the erotic suspense after Han makes the first move. They cut out Carrie calling him "hot shot". Lucas wanted Star Wars to appeal to kids and their sexual chemistry clearly unnerved him.
@@CollectionTHX1138 No, their affair actually happened before they made Empire Strikes Back. Carrie said she was 19 at the time, so it was either during or just after they filmed A New Hope.

I would agree with the guy who said Star Wars was the movie of a generation and Empire Strikes Back is the greatest sequel of all time (to date). Although _Avengers: Endgame_ was pretty damn good and I can't think of anything else even close.
The Empire Strikes Back isn't just the best Star Wars film, its one of the best films ever made. All the Star wars films that came after live in its shadow.
In general, originals are only true Star Wars story, everything after that feels like a fan fiction.

Seeing the original film stock makes it look sooooo good. No need for all that digital crap on the UHD. Just give us a pure 4K transfer of the theatrical version. Do it, Disney!!!!

I don't think there has ever been a film that has ever made the solitude of space seem so vast. The constant chase by the Empire in deep space, Luke's training on Dagobah, the battle of Hoth, the epic showdown on cloud city....the set designs, the acting and the music has never been better than in this movie.
2001: A Space Odyssey is also pretty isolated.

Also, because they didn’t have smart phones or internet or social media. They actually had to talk to people and live real life as opposed to the imaginary internet life that many people are living nowadays.

@@xxcaptninjaxx4301 Episode 5-6 are my favorites. Episode 1-3 are OK. Episode 7 was really good. 8 + 9 unfortunately bad. I found Rogue One and Solo good, especially Solo deserves a sequel.

@@dennishopper2701 My favorites are 5 and 3. 3 because of the clone wars and 5 for obvious reasons. I think 2 is bad but phantom menace is ok because darth maul was created and hes my favorite star wars character. rogue one was great and solo was just ok where as the sequels were utter garbage
The snow storm was an immersion blessing. The intensity of it really makes you feel like the characters are ACTUALLY on a harsh ice planet.
I think they planned to film inside a blue crevasse. That might have been cool, too. Happy accidents, I guess

I have to say that ADR guys (and gals) are the unsung heroes of movie-making. The difference between raw set sound and the finished product is incredible.

The quality of those behind the scenes shots are pretty good. Must've kept that footage really safe. I've seen a lot of behind the scenes stuff but there's a few things here I've never seen so that's pretty cool.
There's been a making of a new hope and return of the Jedi but not a making of empire strikes back

That's because George made the decision to digitally store ALL of the negatives right right before production started on the Special Edition.

When Mark Hamill says Empire Strikes Back was so different, I'm reminded of the guy who said it took Star Wars and turned it upside-down. The big battle was towards the beginning, and Luke was literally upside-down (tuchas-over-tea kettle) 3x in the movie!

The Empire Strikes Back was better then anything Disney has ever done with Star Wars, all they had to do is look at the original movies take notes have good writer's and a good director and they would have made an excellent trilogy, well it's too late now.

Say what you want about George Lucas and the prequels, those movies might not have been perfect but at least he had an idea about Anakin and his Legacy. To take a quote from The Dark Knight, all Disney wants to do is to watch the world burn.

@@MultiBum123 Lucas tried to convince other directors to work on the prequels. They declined. His director friends all told him to do it. He didn't/doesn't care about dialogue, but the story fits with the OT.
Empire is the best movie of the franchise

I'm glad I went to see that movie back in summer of 1980. I enjoy the Snow Walker battle scene of Hoth, to learning if whether or not Darth Vader is Luke's father. I have the dvd documentary of "Empire of Dreams The Story of the Star Wars Trilogy" and the blu ray of "SP FX: The Empire Strikes Back" on the Star Wars Saga. Remember: The Force will be You, Always. Now and Forever.
