I knew you’d end up in a coastal eventually! Happy to see it, it’s such a great sport. I think in a truly large swell you’ll change your opinion of the boats stability 😂 and when you’re surfing, you’ll change your opinion of the boats weight too haha Those swifts are excellent 👌
dunno if they still do it but you should check out royal wests regatta in the summer. it always came after the main season was over and crews just formed on the day. fixed seats, no gates, the greenock water and no practise always made for great days of racing. used to be shamaze after the nat champs, henley and the home countries.
Fab again Cam... I live out in Saudi, not many rivers here... But my compound is on the beach... I would love to get one of those boats... Would be just perfect. Great information about the boat & as always, you make it look so much fun 👍👍👍😆😆😆
Hoping to join rowing classes in the near future; so asking from the perspective of a complete newbie... Do you lose a lot of the glide with these coastal boats? I assume that they are much slower but for a newbie, I am also curious whether they're stability makes them easier to learn in, able to be used when you wouldnt go out in a flat water single but against that they appear much heavier and probably less rewarding when you get it right....
Coastal rowing has definitely got more popular these last few years an BR seems to be promoting it a lot more than previously. Having done the Dartmouth to Totnes head in an 8, just being out in salty choppy water is a very different experience - metal fittings may not be so happy though. Great to see your thoughts and looking forward to some more - better start practicing your ability to run on sand though!! 😎
Happy for you taking your sport to new locations and trying new aspects.
Welcome to the salty side. Hopefully see you out on the sea again soon #yamsquad

Did just that last week! Definitely light at points and heavier at others! Although still very stable!!
What a great idea - I did coastal in Hong Kong and really enjoyed it!
Hi Cam, looks warmer than when I was there a few weeks ago! First week of January was quite cold. 👍
You should come down to the South West and give gig rowing a spin!
A lot of gig rowers have suggested the same already!

Definitely give it a go!!
I suggested a few yaers ago that you try coastal rowing. There is many a national class quad that would like to have you in the 2 or 3 seat.
Pretty cool you liked it 👍
That looks a lot of fun!
It was!

Epic
You should try rowing in a one design
Nice!
Cool! How long are those coastal boats?
Not sure exactly. I wouldn’t say too far off a fine single. Probably slightly shorter
They are around 6 meters. Some are a bit shorter, but the swift single in this vid is 6m
