For me there are 2 ways the cateye could be built a small to mid lift with some 12 wides or a diesel prerunner would be bad ass too something you can get back into the desert with nothing SEMA level but something that still turn heads or catch someones eye

That’s exactly what i was thinking. 4-6 inch prerunner style lift, high clearance winch front bumper, high clearance rear bumper, blackout all chrome, black housing lights, upgraded stock turbo and tune (nothing crazy). Basically quality parts that are purpose built for prerunning and off-roading. 20x12 -44 offset wheels with 35x13.50 tires would also make everything pop.

@@240sxRule actually, i do believe the length would help as a prerunner. Ever taken a tiny truck down a road then a mich larger one. Not only is it smooth, partly due to the weight, the length allows the rear to be out of the bumps while the front goes through and the other way around. I personally loved my little ranger i had. However, after switching to a 1 ton, which has the same suspension uncomfort in my books, the longer wheels based helped smooth it out.

What is a chase truck?
It's a truck general the baja races that can go and repair the baja race vehicle. Extreme 4x4 built one once, you can Google it
Juan Maldonado they usually have some sort of rack system built on them and carry extra tires and tools. Tons of off road lights to get into remote areas when chasing for races like the Baja 1000.

Super Happy you bought this! Been following you for a while and I just bought a 2005 GMC Sierra LLY fully loaded 1 owner truck with 112,000 miles on it and it is bone stock. I'm new to the diesel world and can't wait to see what kind of upgrades you do to it. I need helping figuring out what I can and can not do here in California. Congrats & Good Luck!

If you get a lift pump for your project I would suggest a fass or air dog paired with a beans sump with the dual ports. No plugging necessary. Also have the woldfab frame mount bracket that I absolutely love. Have mine bolted but get it welded and never worry about it. Love the set up I have because it’s easy and works super well. Never had an issue and clean fuel for the win. Love the vid! Can’t wait to see how you build it.

I think it’s time you get some specialty forged wheels or American force wheels. Like the new build. Also does this mean you aren’t getting a new ford F-450??? I hope it’s still in the plans.

I'd love to see a budget-minded prerunner build. Fiberglass fenders front and back, long travel, 37-39 x 12.5-13.5 x 17-18. But still a daily driver with a truck bed. A set of compounds would be sweet too!

I have a twin to the new build and will keep as long as I can. 6” lift, 18x10 moto metal 35/12.50 Nitto G2, limo tint, black vinyl roof, 15 mirrors white caps, 15 rear bumper, 5” straight pipe, PPEI tune, 4” down pipe, WCfab piping with stage 2 full intake , pcv reroute, black grill, nfab steps, Anzo u bar headlights, c shape taillights, 4 L7 8” kickers, Kenwood CarPlay dvd, Cadillac cluster upgrade, Denali dash bezel.

I’d do a clean nothing crazy build. 4”-6” lift, 20x10’s with some meat on the tires, color matched bumpers and door handles, black housing headlights and taillights, 20% tint on front windows like the factory rear. Pretty much a sweet daily driver..
Ahhh man that’s seriously my dream Silverado/body style. I did buy a 2017 L5P Silverado (close second dream truck) for my business and soon I’ll be buying one like this because a wise man once said “if there is anything you want in this life, you have to WorkFORit!!”

The mirrors are definitely plug-and-play I bought a Chinese set everything work perfectly they were even heated. So the boost mirrors will be perfect for that truck

Nice find on the 05 Duramax! I hear ya on the arm rests! I still drive my 05 GMC 1500 a lot and always use the arm rest. I drive it more than my 2015 GMC Sierra 3500HD Denali Duramax diesel. I am sure you will come up with some great ideas for the new build!

If your front floor boards are wet check the two drain hole in the front two corners when the sun roof is open, the water will drain behide the front dr and passage tires. Just being helpful if you didnt know.

Great truck. Found a unicorn. Get a S&B intake mouthpiece for that LLY pronto. Also a used LBZ mouthpiece will do the job. Cheap,and addresses a well known issue.
Do an ultimate tow rig. I know it’s not a dually but get the head gaskets and ARP head studs done and do a compound turbo set up👌 just a 4” lift so you can still haul a gooseneck trailer. OOOOOORRRRRR go completely different route and lift it 10-12 inches and use the 24” Dropstar wheels

Wife has a 05 lly single cab long bed w/t on 20x10 hostile anthems color matched we love the truck I’ve been waiting for a while to see in in the channel definitely following this build and the obs build love all of them !!

My truck had a plastic bed liner in it over a spray in liner as well however being in the north it was a whole different story, water collected everywhere and it rusted the box like crazy. I suggest taking it out to prevent that in the future.

I would deffinetly say colormatch all the black plastic and do the tow mirror swap. Leveled or 4 inch cognito and 33s and 22 by 12 or 20s. Delete ,exhaust, lift pump, and tune

I think prerunner, with nothing bigger then 20" x 12" rims, so you have plenty of side walls, kick her back to kc lights, make it a sand worthy ride but not to crazy that you cant drive it down the road, still remember the last time you all hit the sand, never know you might like it in the snow to
My 97 obs ford has armrest seats, special order all factory. You can recline the seats with a lever on the end of the armrest

22x12 with 35s 6inch lift I’ll get the factory under the seat subs from a new Chevy get a nav out of a 05 Escalade to keep the inside looking stock and clean Set of real tow mirrors intake full exhaust no tune!!! Keep it clean and fun daily that’s what I would due
You should obviously do mirrors, and keep it leveled with 20x12s and like nitto 420s. That would be clean👌🏻
4 inch king coil all the way around! 35/12.50.20’s black the windows out of course tune delete 5 inch turbo back do a big compound or twin turbo set up build the motor and trans 700-1000 whp build you’ve got a huge show truck now make something big and fast. You could then still take it to the desert throw some paddles on it and go around doing nasty pulls racing buggies ya know.
Off road bumpers alot of LED lights, big exhaust system and the lift kit and I like them style chev trucks
That truck is way to nice to turn into a preruner if it was my truck I’d go all out with the bells and whistles and make it a pavement princess and I know that’s a dumb way to put it but honestly something that’s sima level or close too it just looks so much better in my opinion but love the channel big fan

Putting a plastic bed liner on top of a spray in liner is the truck version of Dmax keeping plastic on everything he buys.
I like the #towrunner build on Race Dezert. Prerunner style cat eye. Clean back bumper design, great stance and Methods. I believe it was an 8.1, but it is probably my favorite cat eye.
