    Lyrics:
And Sara thinks she's died here once before
    She's crazy
A pop-up book of flowers from grade 4
    Are driving her insane
    No one knows why
    She's sad tonight
No one can help her find
Crying, Crying, she couldn't afford the view
Crying, Crying, these automatic flowers won't do
    Another brick
    Another window frames the confusion
Her garden blooms but Sarah can't see straight
    She's drinking herself blind
    And no one knows why
    She stares outside
No one can help her fight
Crying, Crying she couldn't afford the view
Crying, Crying, these automatic flowers won't do
    These automatic flowers won't do
She never admitted, she never considered
    That she always means better
    She's wasting all our time
Crying, Crying, she couldn't afford the view
Crying, Crying, these automatic flowers won't do
    These automatic flowers won't do
These automatic flowers, flowers won't do

I love how every video of them seems to have a "they were underrated" comment. They were one of the biggest bands of the 90's in Canada and were always on the radio and always had the top ranking videos on Much Music and Musique Plus (we didn't have MTV so I have no clue about that).

Thank you. Just because they may not have been old enough to remember it, commenters need to realize these guys were not poor off and very well know. They were on and off the tops of charts for many years.

This whole album makes me cry. Reminds me of my mom when she was in the hospital of cancer. I always played this in my walk man walking to see her in the hospital everyday. Sadly she passed away. Shortly after. Our lady peace is a band that I hold to my heart dearly. Their music has always been there for me. I can’t wait to see them live again.

Love songs that have a "hidden darkness", this is one of them. They may not be goth/metal/heavy whatever but have a strange and eerie poetic story going on in the lyrics. Back when I was 13 this came out and all the other kids just saw this song as another "radio hit for house parties" When i tried to tell them the story behind the song they just didn't care.
I was the only one who stopped to pay close attention to the lyrics, and just read the CD booklet on its own sometimes, just soaking in the strange and creepy story about mental illness.
The pictures of the ventriloquist dummies in the abandoned buildings were also a very nice touch.

Ever herd if you don't got anything nice to say don't say anything well more people need to go by that this mans voice is absolutely amazing and so is the rest of the band there songs have actual meanings that touch people. i could seriously sit here all day and listen to Raine sing non stop and i would still love his voice its different and sounds good. maybe there were other bands better in the 90's but there are also alot of great bands now and still coming.

granted the guy is entitled to like or hate whatever he wants but you got a point that if you're gonna comment on a vid just to say you hate the guy's voice and don't expect to be debated on your opinion then that person is wasting their time like you said I always say if I hate something that that's my opinion but I respect anyone who feels differently instead of just saying I hate something and making myself sound like a troll when I do that.when someone comments or gives a differing opinion on something on a video they need to do it responsibly at the least to be fair to everyone else's opinion.

Canadian fashion went through a weird phase around this time (late 90's), which is part of what contributes to it - in which dressing in bland/The Gap-style clothing spoke to the disconnected malaise within society. We were all being marketed this bland crap, and meant to smile and live angstless, loving lives - but it was such a universally-recognized falsehood, that wearing The Gap (or etc) came to mean the opposite: that we were all painting pastel colors over our open psychological wounds.
It's hard to describe exactly - I tried. Maybe some fashion/music context would help actually. At this time (1997) Grunge music had become so popular in the early 90's that it dictated fashion for the rest of the decade, by 1997 companies like The Gap (only picking on them because they were big then, but it was many similar companies) had latched on - and had started pitching their shabby-chic-shit, cleaned-up grunge/comfort-wear: and marketing it with over-the-top happy ads and pastel colors.
With Grunge fashion both dated by this time, and now too mainstream/uncool, there wasn't a clear new fashion style for Canadians in this sort of Nirvana->OLP demographic to convert toward: and this is pre-internet, so you could only buy whatever your local stores were selling. Rather than trying to invent a new fashion style distinct from both Grunge and Gap, we subverted the meaning of Gap-wear for a few years. We played along and wore what the commercials were telling us to wear - while shifting the meaning from, "I'm wearing pastels and muted comfort-wear, because everything in my life is perfect and great!" to "I'm wearing your pastels and comfort-wear because it perfectly symbolizes how we're all a little broken inside, and these pastel uniforms are lies".
In today's fashion context we look at that and think, "What's with the lame outfits, they look like happy dudebros" - but given the post-grunge context of the time, this was at least as much a 'fuck you' to the establishment than being all gothed out like Marilyn Manson was back then.

The Gap, West 49, Randy River, Campus Crew...All subverted to our 90's canadian disenfranchised anti fashion lol. Used to cut holes in them, stick patches on them, become the reverse billboard of happy 90's teen. Good times overall. Then haul a couple coolers to edgefest and get messed up listening to some of the greatest bands of our time.
