Nova, despite her devotion to Violet, probably made her hit list somehow and is having a hol up moment. Maybe she hurt Lucy? Either way, she’s screwed. Speaking of Lucy, she looks extra out of it here. I have a feeling this ties in with Celeste crying at the end. She was unfortunately never gonna live long. Maybe while Celeste was away regaining her memories and trying to become the next killer queen, Lucy ended up kicking the bucket. Or maybe Celeste became queen and just failed to find a cure in time, despite her new resources. Like Violet and Heather.
This one is a bit far fetched but hear me out. What if the ritual thing Celeste did was sort of a modified version of Violet's branding spell, but instead of just branding the liars (it's probably not liar anymore either maybe just "people i don't like" or maybe literally everyone idk) it gives her the ability to control them whenever she wants without having to have eye contact or hypnotize them. I don't really have any evidence for this other than her control over Amber seeming to be more long-lasting than say Violet's hypnosis on Cassius, and Celeste seems to mind control people a lot (also that shrine in the background). Also Nova was probably expecting Celeste to carry on the spirit of Violet's reign, but when Celeste started mind controlling everyone she was like hol up this actually isn't what i wanted. In response to the theory that Lucy dies: If i have to deal with one more sapphic character dying of terminal illness i will yeet something out a window and then cry for 3 hours.

So from what I understand is that Celeste remembers everything from the past and the neglect she felt during her imprisoment as basically a child slave. I also believe that Celeste confronted Amber twice, for the first time when she remembered everything and for the second time would be Amber getting mind controlled. As for Nova and Lucy, I believe that Nova became shocked, because I think she tried to get rid of Lucy behind Celeste's back of which Celeste figured out and mind controlled Amber to kill Nova, that would explains Lucy's faded expression her faded expression could also mean that she could potentially be questioning her relationship with Celeste after it's revealed that she's the Death Godesses child and from how Celeste started to behave with other people once she got her throne back. Idk I might be wrong here this is just an idea I got, admitadley I could be stretching this. Edit: Also I believe Celeste forced Amber to join her as her warrior.

Wow! I love how much detail you’ve put in your characters. It really brings out their personalities! I was thinking how Amber drawn in darker and sharp clothing represents how much she changed from the warm and kind person in book 1 to being bitter and lonely in book 3.
