Gear: Fender Telecaster Custom, Orange OR100 + Orange Cab, played by the awesome Doug Doppler.
finally a REAL result!!!! I have both, and sounds just like THAT!!!!!! Of course, I love G12H30 more, less treble, more TONE! but like they together too.....thanks
I like the H30 better. Smoother and less harsh sounding.
G12H all the way
The G12H sounds great but still love the high-end and rasp on the V30, excellent live speaker, sounds great pushed and in a overall band mix. broken-in they are one of my favorites.
v30 off axis is a very clear, unforgiving, tone. I love them. paired in the same box as a g12H or green back would be the ultimate.
Scott Mac that’s just what I did. It’s a nice blend that covers everything well.
They both sound good.
vintage 30 sounds a little more aggressive, heritage 30 70th anniversary sounds fuller but more tame, less aggressive cool video. i wish i could find soundclips of eminences .
Yea but if you are playing something you want to give a more mid-boosted, aggressive attack sound to you just adjust your EQ and such. Overall the G12H is just a more balanced speaker, and so when contrasted like this against what is a rather high-mid boosted, sometimes fizzy type of speaker it sounds weaker.
very cool! Maybe one with the new v and a type great comparison ! THanks
Depends on the amp. Playing feel, dynamics, etc.
You can still get a great tone from a 3 watt amp. Crank a tube amp or a solid state amp in the studio with V30’s will also sound different. Environment also plays a factor. Is the room sound proof? Is it a warehouse with loads of reverb?
Just play with passion. Period.
Bet they mix well in a cab :)
I imagine v30s were made to break up more because old school distorted sound relies more on the speakers to do some of the work. With newer amps having massive preamp gains doing the heavy lifting, I think the G12 would be better because it seems to articulate and break up way less. My guess as to why Eddie choose them over the regular v30s.
Speaker breakup has more to do with the density of the cone's paper than anything else.
The V-30 cuts through better and has a slightly better tonal range, whereas the G12H-30 has a tiny bit more low end and sounds just slightly muddier a result. I'll take the V-30.
So the g12H30 aniverssary is amost a 30w version off the Vintge 30, interesting
Nicer sound from Vintage 30.
not much dif both sound good, i would just flip a coin and be happy with either !
V30 for me... older ears maybe :)
what mic was used
two totally different speakers
G12 has a better overall mix
Were the speakers fully broken in or right out of the box?
Pretty much out of the box
Doesn’t sound like my old Anniversary’s
Mine re Uk made they have more attack
g12 sounds really muffled
I thought the same thing. It doesn't sound as articulate or clear
Awk, I hate these vintage 30. They always sound like themselves, If you're going to use vintage 30, don't bother choosing an amp, just buy the cheapest...
