I dont think he is in a slump, he did pretty well in the candidates and in the online turnaments, in the superbet turnament he didnt play well but i dont think he is in a bad situation now

An easier explanation could be he's a higher-level GM that literally just wanted to have fun, and defeating everyone and taking money anonymously would've been an asshole move that could've damaged their reputation if their real name somehow got out
wining an open tournament is never an "asshole move", especially there were a few others GMs participating. I would rather say he is rich enough to not play for money and he wanted other people to enjoy the rewards.

I believe Nepo didn't take that free pawn for two reason, both related to castleing. First, the pawn would remain threatened and be an ongoing liability if white didn't castle. Second, it seems as though Nepo wanted white to castle kingside and therefore leaving him a chance to save the pawn would prompt that move. Perhaps Nepo felt that white would lose a tempo having to castle and/or white's kingside pawn storm would be weakened without the rook behind it once it castled.
@Od1sseas So, instead of doing my work I manually replicated the position into the computer and apparently that rook move is forced because it stops the bishop from supporting Kxf2 threatening taking the white queen and delivering a check, if u do Rc1 u can take with the other rook if he attempts to take with the black knight
I could be wrong, as I'm not a computer or chess-engine. But, during the hypothetical line @ 10:39, it would appear that capturing the white rook at F2 is MUCH more logical if you use your bishop as opposed to your knight. It comes with check, it can't be captured, and the knight is in a very good square as it can both attack or defend from it's current location.
