These are only tips, useful tips But if you want a guide on drawing eyes, I suggest watching Chommang's eye yt guide The tips this guy mentioned also exist within Chommang's guide (although not exactly pointed out) so yeah
Tip n° 4: don't draw only one eye from start to finish, if you do this, the second eye is never going to look the same, draw both eyes at the same time, if you draw the eye lid on one, draw it on the other too
That last tip is actually so so helpful! I’ve always drawn my eye on the other side wrongly, and although I’ve always thought it looked fine, now that I draw it with theaters eyelid information in mind they look so so much better! And are honestly easier to draw
So many people come to videos like this just to complain "But my arrrt styllllle!" or "I do what I want, don't tell me how to draw". No one is forcing you to draw a certain way. Art tutorials are for people who want to improve their craft and who find tips like this helpful. If that doesn't apply to you, don't take it so personally, it isn't attacking you.
@@pragyasheel look right to left. You'll see the head of the "goldfish" where the finished eye is. Then to the left, you'll see the find where the unfinished eye is.
I've drawn so many eyes at this point that i don't even need them guidelines, and as a professional eye drawer, i can say that drawing the other eye is really simple if u practice it enough.
I learned how to do this just by looking at a lot of pictures of eyes of real people and fictional art. Because I saw a lot of it, i just look at my drawing and judge what's off and adjust it until i'm satisfied.
I’m actually pretty good at drawing eyes in my style but I didn’t realize that last tip about the far corner not being visible (doesn’t take a whole lot away from my style to have it there, but it’s a small improvement to take it away). Sweet, thanks!
Tip in my opinion when drawing digitally Is to draw the eyelid and the eye ball on different layers Then copy just the eyelid then use, invert and, for example, in ibis paint, use the transform (perspective) feature to shape it You can then use it as a rough guide for the other eyelid
it's something I gotta keep remembering from now on, for the fact that I for example, a diagonal like sight, type... frontal but a bit sided? it's always and insane PAIN. so yeah, this hopefully helps me understand a bit more :D
That last one man… I’d call myself a pretty proficient comic artist but I’ve seen all too many times that my eyes look like the incorrect form on the last example. My art is going to improve yet again thanks to an art tips video!
You can see one at the end, but my two cents would be to just add a robin (from Batman)-sequel mask before drawing the eyes It gives you a better sense of the placement of where the eyes will go and how the eyebrows will flow due to the top part of “the mask”
@@LucasPeinador I knew that the other eye needs to be a different shape but never quite figured out how :D I personally prefer drawing animals but it's always nice to learn new tricks.
I do much more cartoonish eyes, but my own tip is to draw them the exact same, don’t try to flip the other one because it’s on the other side. The you can add a nose line for which way the head is facing, and then edit it to your tastes
@@logicss2893 if anything this may help with what I mean? So you make the two lines for eyes: - - Then add the nose between the eyes in the same direction the head is facing, so: -| - or - |-
Trick no 2 seems a valuable advice but then my confused non-artist ass doesnt comprehend the how except the perspective line changes from horizontal to vertical 😂
Thank you much for posting these quick tips that make a world of difference in the end product. I've seen better value in my drawings/sketches recently and have cut down drastically on quitting halfway through or the first 10 minutes when I'm not feeling it anymore. Quick question if you do end up reading my comment, do you have a video on keeping your inspiration of your piece alive while you're in the process of it? I feel I might just be drawing the wrong things because I feel so out of touch with it now and I have no emotion attached to the art most times when I'm finished with the piece and sign. I could use help with anyone knowing how to fix this, if Lucas possibly can't
Sketching out the iris also helps, sometimes the eyes looks terrible bc the pupil might be looking at different directions 😂, sketch it out and take a moment to see if it looks good, you can adjust it anytime, with this, you can avoid having to redraw the eyes whenever its off
This is great advice and all, but the biggest the best way to get rid of different looking eyes is to draw both eyes at the same time, draw one eyelid then the other eye lid for the second eye
I kinda wish these videos would preface that they're intended for a particular category of artstyles. While this works BRILLIANTLY for more realistic styles, it's not going to work *as well* for something more anime-esque, and is even LESS helpful for anything toon or abstract.
You gotta learn the rules before you can break them! Learn how to draw realistic eyes and then you'll know how to simplify them while still making them look believable. :D
