Kate Bush was from a middle class background, she worked from the age of 16, going round pubs with her band. Her parents weren't rich. Her old family home is in a bit of a deprived area.

Kate spent a number of years “growing up” - staying in a flat ( in between flats that her brothers lived) in and yeah, did some gigs before Wuthering Heights was a released. It wasn’t like she was working in John Menzies or Burger King!
I used to really like New order but after say around the perfect kiss i kind of lost interest in them and thought that they were just doing the same stuff!
Perfect Kiss is probably peak New Order sound, I’ll give you that, in terms of them being unique in the market (esp that 10 min live video version)... but their best tracks were probably still to come, Vanishing Point, Dream Attack etc... but by then others had the same tech after they’d already done the R&D on it so maybe less distinctive I guess

I’d forgotten how brilliant Soft Cell’s Bedsitter is. Pop used to be so good, so resonant.

The album "The Dreaming" was weird, and you had to listen to it numerous times. It was not as easily accessible until you became use to it.
