- Learn in this video how to set up your BMW Personal eSIM.
In selected countries the new optional Personal eSIM in BMWs with Operating System 8 offers you enhanced telephone functionality, a personal Wi-Fi Hotspot and connectivity that easily follows you from BMW to BMW. Get started by setting up your Personal eSIM. Open your My BMW app, go to “Profile” under “3rd Party Services”, select “Personal eSIM” and “Activate eSIM”. Select your mobile provider and enter your number. Click “check with provider” to be led on to your mobile network provider. Follow their instructions to finish the activation. Afterwards you are led back to theMy BMW app where you see your successfully activated Personal eSIM. By the way: You can start this process also on the BMW website or in your car. Under “Mobile Devices” - “Personal eSIM” - “Activate personal eSIM”, a QR code leads you to the web activation. Now you can use your Personal eSIM! In your car log-in with your BMW ID and activate ""synchronize BMW ID"". Your Personal eSIM is now set-up - and the Personal Wi-Fi Hotspot is working. With a synchronized BMW ID, you can even take your Personal eSIM with you from car to car automatically, by logging in with your BMW ID. Connect your phone to the car once to set up the telephone function via Personal eSIM. By doing so, it syncs your contact book to the car. Whenever calling via Personal eSIM, you will use the vehicle’s antennas - ensuring optimum reception. In the My BMW App under “Personal eSIM” you can also choose to deactivate and delete all eSIM data from all connected vehicles. Additionally, you can temporarily block or unblock your Personal eSIM from the app.

Probably worth mentioning that despite the feature being in my car and reminding me I haven't set it up, it doesn't work in the UK, but does appear to be available in Bahrain, Germany, Japan, Switzerland and South Korea. Awesome.
Have asked multiple bmw support services about this in the UK and they are clueless. Thanks for clarifying it is not available in UK.
It's really annoying especially the esim is available at all providers. Why there is no option to simply enter the esim into the car like you do with a tablet or smart watch.

Well can’t do it in Australia , strangely enough my IX says that it’s ready to complete the activation but just need complete the setup in the app

Hey there BMW, have you made a new brochure for the BMW X3 2022 for the Middle East market or a general one? In North America, be aware!! This only works with T-mobile phones!!! This video is very misleading.
Recently it works with AT&T also. Apparently soon Verizon will be added too.

When will you add Verizon in NA?! This is misleading. Think you need to get your contract negotiations figured out before you tout enhanced tech which is unavailable to most .

AT&T and X5 M50i are incompatible
Just discovered that UA-cam in bmw I drive doesn’t work without either e sim or SIM card. It is connected to internet through my phones internet but UA-cam won’t use that internet 🤡🤡🤣

Your vehicle is not supported with Apple CarPlay or AirPlay.
3rd Party Providers can flash your car to make it happen, however this may cause issues with your OEM computer.
