- Reviewing the iPhone 12 Mini again, six months after launch, to see if it's still one of the best compact smartphones of 2021. Boasting the same camera tech and performance of the vanilla flagship, the iPhone 12 Mini now comes in purple (whoop) and has been updated to iOS 14.5. It's far from perfect and far too expensive (standard), but it's my favourite of Apple's latest mobile line-up.
Like the Pixel 5, you get a point-and-shoot camera which can make the most of pretty much any situation. Gamers will struggle a little with that compact screen, not helped by the enormous notch, but Genshin Impact and other demanding titles play like a dream. Battery life is fine too (much better than the iPhone SE 2020), as long as you're not too reckless with camera apps etc.
If you're an iOS fan then you should get on well with the iPhone 12 Mini, as long as you want a compact phone. This is still among the best miniature options in 2021, but let me know your own verdict below!

Have mines for a month. Love the size and performance. Battery not soo much but expected. Can’t say enough that I use it the most for news / messaging/ and socials . Very happy with purchase

But I must admit, these "6 months later" titles are a bit misleading. It sounds as if you've been using the phone for the last 6 months, which is a very different experience from using the phone just 1 week, 6 months after its launch.
Maybe it's just me, but yeah, I think it can create false expectations. Keep up the excellent work!

Just got the purple and picking it up after the weekend! Can’t wait! I have a galaxy Note 10+ which will be my secondary device. Been waiting for Apple to bring back the 5s design with an updated display and internals for forever it seems

I was wondering yesterday if you are going to review this phone. First time I want to get an iPhone for real.
I've had the mini for 6 months and it has never let me down. I have no problem with the battery at all although admittedly I'm not a "power user". I really don't understand why the mini isn't more popular because it's a great little phone.

I love the 12 Mini, it is a great size which is easy to handle and light, I don't worry I'm going to drop it like I would each time I'm holding the Max. Also I really love the Magsafe charger because it gives me a way around not having to use the lighting cable, which I hate and wish iPhones had type c ports instead.

I have been using the iPhone 12Mini for 6 months too and I am really enjoying this mighty little beast! The sound that comes out from this small phone is amazing and the display of 5,4 is not that small (iPhone 8 Plus is 5,5). Performance is staggering! Best smartphone I owned in years!

It’s an iPhone 8 with edge to screen iPhone se body and iPhone 12 internals. Literally the perfect phone. I’ve had my for about a week and it’s amazing 🥰

Very happy with the iPhone 12 mini, it’s all I need in a smartphone. I have other devices to use for a bigger screen when watching vids/movies. It’s a great companion to my iPad and laptop.

I’ve had the 12 Mini for almost 2 months now and absolutely love it! It’s the phone Steve Jobs would be proud of. The battery life is fine for me and I don’t mind charging my since it’s super fast. It feels SO amazing in the hands being light and compact. I hope the Mini stays consistent and in Apple’s product line up. It’s about time small phones made a comeback!

@@MrRSlavchev I charge it overnight and then use it to catch up on emails and social media during breakfast. Then off to work 12-6pm or sometimes 4-10pm and charge it once more during the day depending on the day’s productivity. If it’s the 4-10pm workday, I don’t charge it until I get home and in bed by 1am.

This is the one phone that made me switch to iOs. My previous one was the Galaxy Z Fold 2. Talk about downsizing... The form factor is just so appealing.

I was an iPhone owner before and then went with Samsung s9 for around 3 and half years, now I’m back with iPhone. I got the mini myself and I love it so far! It’s the right size that I’ve been waiting for a long time! I’m tired of cell phones getting as big as a tablet! I never really liked them. So far I’m very impressed with mine.

Had I phone 12 mini in purple for the last 6mths battery health is on 99% after 6mths and I use my phone a lot very happy ❤️ this phone performance and battery is great thanks for sharing X
I am waiting for an android equivalent to this to be released. I am tired of big ass phones. I want a solid compact phone. I don't care if it is chunky, as long as the battery life and camera are both good.

I truly enjoy my mini. Battery life lasts most of my 18 hour days an still 100% battery health after 6months. Durable physically an very fast when playing mobile games.

Hello, I’m not a heavy user during my work week
I may top it off once during the day then I charge it over night
If I were a power user { sometimes on the weekends} I might charge twice during the day

Also did anyone notice the almost identical dimensions to the xz1 compact . My favourite phone from the past and this phone feels perfect. It’s what I wanted Sony to make but they never did
£75 off all iphone 12 and mini on both Amazon and Argos atm.... My wife has the mini and loves it, if you don't like the notch and watch in 16/9 the viewing area is the same as Sony Z compact ( her previous phone).. about 4.6 inches....

I'm planning on getting this phone in my company. Will be using it mostly for emails and I'm a heavy email user + messenger + zoom and Microsoft teams. Will battery hold up? I'm really considering this because of the small form factor.
Buying iPhone 12 mini in the US to ultimately move to the UK by July. Will unlock it and hoping it’ll be easy to use with local service there and still keep in touch with friends and family easily with my friends and fam in America (with iPhones).

Chris what s your review about the iphone se after 1 year ? I wonder how it s gonna be the battery after one year of use and i wonder how is gonna be the battery for the 12 (mini or normal) also after one year. I have to decide what should i buy for black friday, a gaming laptop or a phone . I am a student so i cant do both . The other option would be an iphone se and a laptop at the same price but buying an se and going from a note 9 to an se (which batttery is not as good) ... i dont know. I could buy an iphone 12/12 mini but at 64 gigs... too low storage for photos which takes some space. Or in the same budget as se should i go to the xiaomi/redmi but i dont how much suport would i have on MIUI...

this tiny is a beast, well to be expected as it use the same proc as the bigger brother.
a few thing people might consider before buying this phone are the screen size and the battery.
The screen while is not big, it get the job done. Just remember 5,5 inch used to be the big screen size for a smartphone.
For the battery, it's pretty decent. It will run out faster than most modern Android devices but it will at least get you through a single day so you don't really have to worry about the battery.
Unless you plan to play video games then you need to bring your charger/powerbank.

@@michaelscofield2444 I used to have a Samsung Galaxy J7 in white and boy do I miss it. I only switched to iPhone because both my phone and iPod touch were stolen. So I chose to get an iPhone. Androids aren’t all that bad honestly. I kinda miss my galaxy 💔 but because of messages, photos and contacts off iCloud I got an iPhone.

So happy apple brought back smaller phones I got mine in the bogo Verizon deal it reminded me of the old days when you use to be able to get free phones with 2 yr contracts
Well in 2019 I switched to IOS cause of a real estate job and now I'm on the ProMax 11and I noticed that the apps seem better on ios. Updates come in regularly. I'm not going back. I do miss always on display. But that's it.

I heard many problems about the battery life and overheating, but it is on sale for like $400 for black friday sale! Do you think it will last me for a long time? (Like 3 years?). If not, then i will go for the pixel 6 ($600). Im not sure if its worth it yet, i dont mind either screen size.

The 60hz is honestly fine on the iPhone 12 range , I went from s20 to iPhone 12 because I hate Samsung software and iOS is just so smooth that I don’t miss the 120hz. It feels so great on iOS

Been using the Mini 128GB Blue since January and the battery is not an issue at all. Keep in mind that A14 Bionic chip is really powerful and battery-efficient, even for the Mini with just 2227mah battery capacity. It can lasts me for a full day with moderate usage and all is just fine. The only problem I encounter with this phone is when gaming, not because of the battery capacity but the small form factor of the phone itself, especially the screen size if you play mobile games with claw fingers. But that is not a big issue, at least for me. Hope this helps

I still use the original 2016 iPhone SE as my mobile banking device. I would say that the only reason I wouldn't use it as my every day device is that emulation on iOS is a pain in the arse unless you jailbreak.
Am using a iPhone 11 Pro Max 64GB for 10 months now and 64 poses absolutely no problem for me even if I've slapped pubg mobile and Arena of Valor on that device. It still has 30 GB available and no battery wear whatsoever.

I intended on buying the cheapest iphone but moving from my android it has not impressive battery life. Even if a 120 hz iphone mini came out the battery life would be way worse than now
