Men like Rusty are a very rare breed he obtained the Green beret and passed SAS selection that would make him incredibly skilled and trained as a soldier the best you can be.When a man of Rustys calibre talks we should listen carefully.
You can't "just apply" for the SAS even when in the forces. You have to have served a certain period of time before you can even be considered, then you need to be recommended and referred by senior officers. In other words you have to be absolutely top drawer before you can even be considered for selection.
Even the Paras and the Green lids can be applied to directly from civvie street. And the fact that those are hardcore in their own right and it's where a lot of SAS talent comes from while most of the rest of them wouldn't make the grade, tells you all you need to know about how solid the SAS are.
These lads make you proud to be British!
They certainly do @paulmulks
I was a young PC in the Met Police with about 15 months service and was deployed on the perimeter of the embassy from day one of the seige until the day the SAS went in. They have had my utmost respect and admiration ever since.
I was 13; great teatime viewing. Notice we didn't get any of that nonsense after the siege.
@@dominicseanmccann6300 those were the days.

Wow that's amazing. Could you share some of your story or what you saw and heard etc?
Thank you for your service Rusty, we rely on people like you to keep us safe.
I listened to Rusty's book, The Regiment, on Audible. The man is an absolute legend. I also saw him on GB News chatting to Nigel Farage. Rusty is a proud Brit and he is right that the UK has serious problems. God bless.
Rusty is a wonderful human 🇬🇧
It is indeed a fantastic read! Rusty is a real legend 👌
In September 2022, my son and I were at the Yorkshire Shooting Show, in Doncaster. We were part of the BASC (British Association for Shooting and Conservation) team, albeit volunteers, who organised the show. Rusty was Guest speaker for the two days. We were manning the shooting simulator, which was to raise funds for the Gamekeepers Welfare Trust. As I was walking back to the shooting simulator stand, I noticed Rusty and a friend sitting down, having a cup of tea. I politely asked him if he would come over to the stand and have a go, thus encouraging others to have a go after seeing the legend in action. Rusty duly obliged and as soon as he picked up the electronic gun, he was nailing the targets instantly. I kid you not! He certainly hadn’t lost his SAS shooting skills! The crowd were amazed and applauded him enthusiastically! Best of all was the fact that my son, who had read his books, had now met and shook hands with the SAS Legend, Rusty Firman!
i recently was shown a clip of farrage saying he was fine with illegal immigrants coming to this country aslong as they have our values whatever that means lol farrage is not our guy

Incredible man really appreciate being able to get Rusty on for the interview
Men like Rusty are a cut above the rest of us. Proper man.
We don't make em like this any more in the UK. Humble man. Respect.
VERY TRUE, My FATHER was a ROYAL MARINE after theWAR WW2 He was sent to the FAR EAST. SAME CRAP never ends
We certainly do make them like this.
I've got friends in SFs. We definitely do make them like this
Still make em like this. Old heads on young shoulders.
@@cragboom3 We dont make them like that anymore . Kids now are soft don't know how to look out for themselves, because they are not allowed to. Teacher's Parents, GOVERNMENT'S dont let them ,my GOD you live in a NANNY STATE and it will get worryingly BAD for the CHILDREN. Wake up PEOPLE .
Ex Royal Air force grand cru technician, 9/11 wasn't what we were told it was
Good to hear Rusty talk about it. All it takes is critical thinking, and that's not what we have a lot of anymore
I’ve got Rusty to sign his book for my brothers 50th birthday.
Legend of a man.
Respect to DEVGRU and Delta but the SAS And SBS are the best in the world
It’s not common knowledge but after the embassy siege, an investigation raised serious questions around the amount of times the terrorists were shot which was deemed excessive.
When asked to explain why one of the terrorists had been shot 30 times, the SAS member replied “That’s all I had in my magazine sir 😉”
That's a perfect answer, what a legend.
ha brilliant!
It’s also not true, that same joke was used after an incident in Northern Ireland and also Iraq. Maybe check your facts?
@Mokkathon it's clearly a joke, but a good one in whatever guise. Like the policeman saying to the guy "you saw 5 people beating up a flat earther, why didn't you help?" And the guy says "because I thought 5 was enough"
Have always wondered what sort of naive immature cretin actually believes blatantly obvious utter nonsense like that.
It’s as ludicrous as the stories of being discovered by the boy goatherd that gets told by every generation in every desert theatre.
The real stories are always very different.
Bravo Rusty. For your service and your insight!
Thankyou for your sas service you and everyone who servied you are all very brave and heros
Another great interview Dodge… these are some of the people among armed forces that make Britain Great .
Absolutely Neil💎
11 mins to clear that

Just watched 6 days after listening to this, how the hell have I never seen this film, brilliant, being Welsh we were brought up to hate Maggie Thatcher for screwing our county as well as other parts of Britain but she had bigger balls than all the prime ministers since she left
Wow,another banger,Rusty make you proud to be british, very nostalgic taking us all back to the early 80's
Such a hero! Love listening to him speak. Always talks complete sense.
The man is a legend ❤ a true British man
RUSTY "LEGEND"
AWESOME DODGE🇬🇧💯🙏
Quest71
Great to hear you talk about your life, Rusty, old soldiers stories are always the best. It is very sad that the Britain we grew up in, no longer exists. It makes you wonder why so many dedicated, loyal, and decent people bothered, sometimes. In fact most of the time to be quite honest.
As a true Englishman to my core, and with so many family members who sacrificed in service to Britain, the Boer war, the first, and second world wars, and Korea, I don't think that I could live there any more, I doubt if I would make it through Heathrow airport, without being arrested.
Thank you Dodge, and thank you Mr Firmin for your service. Nothing but absolute respect. Another excellent interview.
Dodge your best guest and interview of them all in my opinion Thanks Ex Veteran. 😊

They are the best ones!
I watch ‘Flight Radar’ when I hear the long-haul flights go over and wonder, ‘who the hell can keep flying to the states and back?’ Now we know, it’s Rusty Firmin. Long may it last for the men with REAL stories to tell.
Bloody love you Rusty, God bless brother.
Man like dodge. Legend mate
I was introduced to Rusty the same night I was introduced to jaeger bombs. Top night at one of Rusty’s appearances for a military charity. Super genuine, nice gentleman.

ANOTHER GOOD PODCAST EXCELLENT STUFF DODGE RESPECT TO YOU
Nice one dodge ..Rusty is a top man…
Liked before I even started watching. Always great podcasts mate.
Good man 🙏
Keep it up mate. I'm currently getting over my second open heart surgery in 10 years. But this time was much worse. The infection in my heart spread to my brain and caused an abscess and when they pulled my drainage tubes out my stomach, they cut my spleen and I nearly died again. Anyway I'm still breathing (which is a bonus) I flatlined and went back in time to like a past life. I know everyone will think im mad but i told my family what i saw before they even told me i'd flatlined several times. They now use my case for junior surgeons, so something bad can always turn into something positive. Your podcasts helped me through my 3 months in hospital. @DodgeWoodall

God Bless you Rusty for everything you have done to keep us safe.❤ It must make you despair about the state of modern politics. Starmer is the final nail in our countries coffin. Mrs Thatcher would not stand for what is happening now. 🤬

Rustys old School he keeps everything close to his chest and I think totally loyal to the covertness and secrecy of the regiment and he's dead right about 911 and a very patriotic civilian.

The best of the best 💯
I love it you really know how to capture people's minds I love it dodge, if I could give you one word of my advice and experience in media after 37 years it wud be .......
Some times when it gets tuff and everything around you is crumbling you need to dig deep and just give it some of that " hawk tuah " and spit on that thang 😂
Throughly enjoyed....all the best Rusty 👌🏻
I used to work with his son doing air conditioning units. I didn’t know for ages. Am from Hereford near the sas camp
Just thinking about what Rusty said about soldiers families losing loved one at war, through the decisions of politicians, "who dont care". Perhaps leaders of all nations, have to have atleast one close member of their family in the armed services, (that will be on the frontline) in the event of war, to become leaders themselves, like European Kings and royalty of old. i know the British royal family are usually in the armed forces, but probably well protected, and have pretty good jobs, although still dangerous, i doubt they would have let prince william join the SAS. But the British royal family are not politicians, that create the wars in the first place. They should make it compulsory for a president or prime minister, to have atoeast one child, in the shit, on the front line of any war they choose to be involved with. I know it is a horrible thing to say, but it might make their decision making, happen with a bit more thought. Unless they are all psychopaths, which sometimes I think they might well be.
Ooo dodge with another banging podcast
Very fascinating. Lovely gentleman
straight to the point rusty love it
Awesome podcast as always.
Rusty is 70+ SHIT ME, hope I get to his age with half his wits I'll be HAPPY. Gentlemen thank you both for this interview.
A few soldiers today can operate missile rocket launchers and multiple drones, that can cause more damage than a thousand soldiers armed with machine guns.
That’s why the numbers of armed services personnel, goes down each generation, bc of technology.
The same reason why we don’t need, as many soldiers armed with machine guns, as the old British Empire had troops armed with muskets.
PART 2👍
Love it !! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Great podcast… get Gerry hutch on dodge
Farage 2029🎉 vote reform 🇬🇧✝️🏴🗳️💪
What a genuine brave gentleman. Today's politicians wouldn't make the call to go go go incase they offended someone!
What a lovely gent. 😊
Another good one dodge! Iv just read a book by Steve Heaney he was in the path finders (very unheard of uk sf) and he and a small group of lads took on 2000 rebels in sierra lione check him out
8:25 - Anyone else notice what Rusty did when he said 'B Squadron'. I wonder what his beef with them is???
He gives the 'finger' again @ 38:26
I'd love to go have a steak and chips with this chap. He seems so genuine and interesting! Could pick his brains for hours x
Great stuff. What I find strange is alot of the old SAS guys must have been extremely fit soldiers back in their day but many seem to leave fitness stuff behind. I know Rusty is 75 but many 75 year olds would be in much more athletic trim (Rusty says in this interview hes always been physically fit) . Similar with 50 year Phil Campion - must have been extremely fit to be in SAS but now looks fairly overweight. Im not being derogatory , its just something I have noticed. (People like Noel Edmonds / Richard Branson both mid 70s and look in better physical shape)
8:30 that finger looked very intentional 🤔
The Sir Galahad was bombed by A4 sky hawks using conventional bombs.
The Atlantic Convey and HMS Sheffield was destroyed by the Exocet missiles
Operation Mcado was hopefully expected to stop the the potential sinking of a carrier and that would have been it for the task force
Gooden that one !
911 definitely wasn’t the story we’ve been fed.
What's your take on 9/11, Buddy? 😎👍
Zionist activities 💯 the biggest lie along with Iraq 🇮🇶 in American 🇺🇸 history it’s not the American people’s fault just some of the psychopaths that was running in the bush administration ❤
The prime minister in 2008 was,Gordon Brown !!!! Another labour leader allowing this to happen
Is that the Centurion Alpine Jacket
Gordon Brown would have been PM in 2008 and Leoplodo Galtiere was Argentinian President
I was 16 reg ra
Ask him if he remembers Bulmers No.1 ?
He couldn't have summed it up better regarding the UK Police...........'Rock Bottom'
2008 was Gordon Brown
lol, Dodge ‘handbags’ 😅 😂Brilliant 😂
