I’ve watched 100’s of ex forces podcasts including a couple of yours and out all of them I’ve seen, this is by far the best. You’re a great interviewer/listener and you don’t interrupt and try and finish the story for them. What a great storyteller Des is! Salt of the earth, interesting, knowledgeable, humble, funny, tough as hell and an inspiration to others. If I had watched alot of these podcasts 25 years ago I would have signed up for the forces (which is something I always regret not doing).
The military & SF guys are all seriously impressive characters. Focused, intelligent, determined and professional. A formidable combination! Your podcast is the best
Much appreciated 🙌
Dodge, get Des on the Podcast again please, I could easily listen for another 2 hours, old school military, don't make them like Des any more. Polite, humble, intelligent, and hard as nails. 👍
The Joy in Dessies face when talking about all the stuff he hss done is amazing. Although he has probably lost good mates his excitement is great.🙏
I’m fortunate to know Des in person, although my first exposure to him was at 18 years old in Fermanagh, NI 1981. He used to be into his weights big time and had an incredible physique and being a crow, I had the job of changing his weights whilst he was bench pressing. A great guy, humble guy and a guy you do not cross. Looking well Des if you read this. Spot on Dodge, great interview.
Thanks for sharing and yeah Des is definitively one of life’s good guys ⭐️
Crow that's a word I haven't heard in this term in a long time 😅 it's just gave me a bad case of missing that life insane as it was it was all character building 😂
@@DodgeWoodallgreat interview guys well done dodge really interesting thanks
@@RossNaylor-uq4jp was NIG when I served but maybe its a Unit/Corps thing.
What do you mean by Crow ? Hair do ?!
Great interview with a true Gentleman in Des Powell - note, he did not swear / curse once which is unusual in this day and age. Just goes to show the sheer class of this man. Well done Dodge on a fantastic interview.
Glad you enjoyed 👍🏼👍🏼
I've had the privilege of knowing Des for a number of years and he's an absolute true gentleman - very humble, extremely funny and a man you can rely on. Top bloke - great interview Dodge.
What a humble guy, genuine hand on heart honest fella, no bullshit for likes. Totally enjoyed this podcast.
Kind of guy you would chat to in the supermarket and not have a clue he is a trained killing machine!
Des seems a top bloke and really genuine and down to earth - a rare combination. Great interview. Well done Dodge
These podcasts will truly inspire next generations, keep going Dodge and thanks for your service Des, shoulders of giants.
This country is incredibly fortunate that it can produce proper men like Des. Very greatful.
I've got Des's book. What a gent he is. No attitude or arrogance. I guess the more top tier you become the less you have to blow your trumpet. Great video with a great guest. Nice comments from Dodge as well, can tell he really meant them.
Great podcast Dodge. I knew instantly he’s a Sheffield lad before saying where he was from with the accent. What a story and what a gentleman! Get him on again.
Dodge this is a the best episode and insight to the Special Air Service, not the conversational stories. Des is the real deal 💪🏻
Dodge you are light years ahead of the rest when it comes to interviewing. Fantastic mate.
Good man 🙏
Watch Sean Ryan mate if you like Dodge

Wow great chat @DodgeWoodall what a genuine, unassuming decent bloke that's lived life to the ultimate max
Great conversation with the usual easy-going technique of Dodge asking relevant questions.
Top man Des. Great stuff. Thanks for your service.
One of the best interviews yet. What a man, incredible life.
What a good bloke. A huge wealth of experience, insight and honesty. This was one of the best podcasts so far.

Great interview, Des has done so much and is so grounded. Enjoyed that!
Loved this Dodge, thankyou. What a lovely guest Des is. Really interesting.
Amazing episode. Great content, as always, mate!
This man is one of the strongest , sharpest and kind humans I’ve ever been privileged enough to be around. I’m not surprised hearing all these stories considering the force he is. What a great episode
Top guest 👍👍👍
One of the best so far .
Well looking forward to this one Dodge. Going to save it for my commute on Monday. Another banger I’m sure!
Fantastic Interview Dodge, keep it up brother. This was a good one!
Nice one dodge I’ve listened to Bravo Three Zero audiobook and am super excited to listen to this episode
Brilliant interview - Thank you
Another great interview. Brilliant
What he said about buddying up and doing the simple things which are hard in certain circumstances I never really considered. Shows you how sometimes it's the basic simple tasks that carry you through.
Great watch
One lesson I learned and always remembered was to watch out for the quiet lads who suddenly become talkative and vice versa for the talkative types. Sounds obvious but it can be missed. A change in character shows something might be wrong.
Really enjoyed this, thanks Dodge 👍🏻
Fascinating !! Thanks, fellas !! 👏🏽💯
such a genuine bloke no nonsense and truthful i really enjoyed that
Great podcast! Super ingesting. Thank you.
Class podcast. Well done Dodge and Des.

Fantastic guest Dodge, you must be stoked. 😎👍
One of the best pod casts yet What a guy 👍👍
Wow. What a great life so far. My biggest take away is what a gent. Credit to himself.
Yeah Des is a proper gent 💪🏼
@@DodgeWoodall cheers for a glimpse into these peoples stories dodge. 👍 said it before your the best host I have watched. You handle yourself with class and a warmth , that puts a lot of guests at ease and it really is a chat. And that even comes across to us viewers.
Have no doubt your not a soft fella , but fook me , you'd be hard to argue with. you also are a gent dodge. Dodge you know the South African guy military you had on got paralysed, absolute diamond fella, his name escapes me, but his story and fortitude will always be with me, he rode bikes and a ex forces fella built a custom side car using his own bike for him , it took the breathing equipment etc. Was a touching show BUT EVEN MORE SO AS YOU BROUGHT HIS STORY TO US. So to see him getting a buzz was... errr eerrrr well I was cutting onions earlier 😢 to my mrs.
Des was really interesting, thank you Dodge 👍
I was fortunate to meet Des briefly a couple of years ago. And in a very short time I realised he was a very special man
What a great interview,Des is so simple and open with his story . What a life in the service of humanity. Nice one. 🇬🇧
Hi Dodge, brilliant podcast, been off it for a while, looking forward to catching up with all the rest you have done

Good interview, a good man!!

Well done dodge
Thanks Rob 💪🏼
Nice chat with Des. Man has been there and done it. Have to say I prefer these to the gangsters and crims revelling in the shit they cause.
Could listen to him talk for weeks what a guy 👌
Love this channel 😊
Looking forward to this. The first gulf war operations of the SAS fascinate me. My dad was working in Syria while the war was on and he'd tell me stories of seeing scuds and planes
What a Humble Here he is. That’s an eye opening interview xx
Sorry (Hero) was I meant.
The UK special forces are the elite of the elite, its a disgrace they are not equipped with the best gear at all times!
I agree with you 100% but also this is probably one of the reasons why they are so good because they dont need all the best gear to do their job, if their equipment fails or they simply dont have it they get the job done regarless, they adapt and overcome in every situation sometimes that may mean going back to basics, i bet they love working with the US special forces though so they can play with all the rich boys toys 😂 thats just my thoughts.
Im so grateful to our UK special forces and military in general ❤
@@ninafenemore5296 I get what your saying but i think regardless of that they are still the best, their selection process has a 90% failure rate. they are tough and selected for their durability and ability to think on their feet and act during extreme stress. They are the best of the best aswell as the SBS.
They’re still a private military basically. Mercenaries for governments
They get absolutely any gear they need now
Yet another belter brilliant Dodge Top man Des
I went to Sheffield and the old ladies in the shops are the loveliest ever 👊🏼
Great interview, makes me proud to be from Sheffield ✊
Dodge what a top bloke he is..down to earth very humble clever guy, nice one dodge.
Top man, great listening to his story. Very inspiring. 👍🍺
Des as always not afraid to speak but undersells himself… the real deal is a good description of him… a great friend of mine, we worked together in Afghan and Iraq
Good drills Des , you owe me a Latte😂
Great episode very informative and now I know much more about the SAS than I do before... Exactly what he was saying about when he was fishing for information about the selection process and nobody would give him anything that's ABIT like me on sas knowledge until this interview 😅
Jezuz!! This guy makes Sheffield steel look like butter. Amazing story and so humble in its telling.
