That's a really cool animation. Any 3d printable open-source demo available? Thank!

Hi there, any chance you could share the 3D file for this mechanism? I want to build a 3 meter wingspan mechanical bird to put in my field, driven by a nice stainless steel windmill in the nose.

What does the “Wankle box” (part that is enclosed and has bearings) do? Does it increase torque?
If you ever mass produce this, I would very much like to buy one!

Yes, you are right: it is a cycloidal gear box to turn the high RPM of the lightweight brushless motor into more torque. There is a bit more information (from the same project) here: ua-cam.com/video/V5eM7sGRXY8/v-deo.html
(The 3D-printed cycloidal gears have a limited life time---better buy a 3D printer.)

Hi ! I am a 5th year student in mechatronics, my end-of-study project concerns the design and creation of a bionic bird, if it is possible, I would like to have the CAD file of this project for inspiration and deepen my studies, Thank you very much!

How would I learn to make such a thing, is this mechanical engineering?

I can teach you online if you are interested and on free software not on few Ks a month subscription software.

What a simple mechanism it actually is. It is the same as Da Vinci's mechanisms. How do they provide mechanical power? Both meat and machines move with energy.
