4 Strats and 3 Teles bought off Craigslist over as many years: $3200. 4 different overdrive pedals bought on eBay: $400. 1 great lesson from T.B.A.: Pricele$$.
One of the greatest drawbacks of your vid is that I can hear unplugged guitar in parallel to amp sound so the result is not exact as it will be for the live audience. The rest is done with excellence. Thank you for sharing this! Cheers!
I just picked up the EarthQuaker White Light...Thing is smooth as silk. There is a ton out there to choose from. I tried the Soul Food, just under what I needed. The Wamplers were a little pricey. I can't get over the "I Been Had" (Ibanez) moniker...haha. Great knowledge you've imparted on us...Thanks!
Any chance you'd be able to do an amp settings video similar to this? or maybe even a mic placement video on how to find the "sweet spot" for recording purposes?
Very cool 👍 How about how to isolate a Ge FF running fuzz and volume full out for max fuzz goodness which of course is going to cause havoc w the rest of the set up I think Phillip Sayce runs his pedal board like this so he can separate his FF from most of his other pedals So basically two signal chains on one board maybe Thanks man
I just californian smile the eq, turn up the treble and bass, get rid of the rest and crank the drive knobs until they break. I dont palm mute either as I was born in 2003.
What could I buy as a pedal to get sustain and feedback like Gary Moore thanks for showing how to set pedal I have 4 Gibson 60's amps and a fender bronco which I play most great distortion need feedback and sustain please help Tom
Gary's feedback came because his amp was cranked. He used a JCM 800 with fairly high gain allowing him to do that bend on parisienne walkways. You could get away with virtually any distortion pedal like a ds-1 but a tube screamer is not ideal unless you're using it after another overdrive pedal in the chain. Check out gary's pedals here - equipboard.com/pros/gary-moore/#effects-pedals As you can see he has a boss ds-1 and that's where he'll get most of his distortion from, using the tube screamer as a boost. His feedback comes from a cranked jcm800 though. You shouldn't need any pedals for that.
very nice video. I know this will sound nit picky but, I assume your target audience is a beginner or someone new to these types of pedals? when you use "distortion" where you should use "gain" yes gain distorts, but it distorts naturally by saturating the tubes, a distortion pedal distorts artificially . you wouldn't use a distortion pedal where you would an overdrive or vise versa. they sort of produce the same thing only differently and they do sound different, so a beginner would watch this and maybe be confused as to what to buy, a distortion pedal or an overdrive.
I don't understand how that's considered partly dirty....unless you're playing in a hard core band. The 3 settings you're using are, clean, filthy, and loss of all note definition.
You have a gift for clearly explaining issues that are actually usable. Thanks.

Great video! A lot of useful info on Boosts and OD pedals!
Thanks!

Yes! Thanks so much for this! I have had a tube screamer for awhile but (admittedly) I didn't really know how to use it until now!

Thank you Anthony, good information, this has help me to have a better understanding and effective use of my overdrive pedals.
I'm looking forward to the next vid about choosing which pedal to use!
The boost 'primary use' can be achieved using a volume knob of the guitar.
Great demonstration. Very enlightening.
Super helpful video! Keep these kinds of videos coming please!
Will do. Thanks.

Do you notice what you DON'T hear?......NOISE!
A very useful video.Thank you very much !

You should try the 68 custom twin I have one , your strat and you style playing you will blown away! there awesome
Does it make more sense to adjust the tone with the pedal clean then add distortion afterward? I think I can hear it better clean
Nice new boots. :)
They're growing on me.
So that's where the 'soul' comes from...
The Soul Food is a Klon Centaur copy. A complete different circuit than the Tube Screamer which chops highs and lows.
I have a soul food. Great pedal and very affordable!!
You see the sticker on it. Probably a Meat and 3 modded pedal. I got 1 on my board and only stopped by to hear what said. Then he said next video.
Man this is perfect. On a Blues Junior you play with the fat switch on or off?
When dialing pedals and amps do you max out your guitar tone and volume or half way?
Awesome video by the way!!!

Any advice for stacking OD's?
In a couple weeks...
What amp are you using?
