  • The Irishman confirmed itself as a guaranteed Oscar contender this week. We feel that the film is not a masterpiece as some are saying, but can vouch for many of the film's strengths.

    Yeah - Joe Pesci is back! Please review Dolemite is My Name when you see it, as I really look forward to getting caught up with Eddie Murphy.

    The movie was overlong, and by the end I just didn't care about it. I took a bathroom break, and said to my reflection, "I hear you watch paint dry".

    I saw it Saturday and agree with you on most of your review but I think DeNiro and Pacino will both be nominated for Best Actor. I think Pesci will get a Best Supporting Actor nomination. I think if Pacino is put in Supporting it will be a glaring case of category fraud. Pacino is so dominant in the film I just can't see him not getting a Best Actor nomination for his superb, show stopping work.

      Tim Wilson While he’s a scene stealer, Pacino is definitely supporting, considering he’s not the protagonist and there’s a vast difference in screen time between him and DeNiro. He has about equal time as Pesci I’d say

      Tim Wilson Pacino isnt even in the movie until an hour in. He’s also written out of the last 45 minutes. He’s not lead at all

    Is it still a lock for best adapted screenplay? I would assume it is considering the category is pretty weak

      Competing for the win, I’d say, with Jojo Rabbit.

    Have you guys got Pacino beating Pitt for Supporting Actor?

    • @TheOscarExpert
      @TheOscarExpert  5 років тому +1

      I think Pitt will still win but if anyone can beat him it’s probably Pacino.

      The Oscar Expert So how would you rank al pacino's perfomance 1/10? Just to have a clear view if he is getting nominated

    • @TheOscarExpert
      @TheOscarExpert  5 років тому

      @@ChrisRp1208 I don't wanna grade his performance but he's fantastic, the most stand out performance in the film, and basically a guaranteed nominee.

    Kings of Film UA-cam snapped. This is the only channel where you can get a Shrek reference in a Scorsese review. I will say I'm surprised at your ratings considering that it seems like you guys didn't enjoy the pacing. I feel like most reviews I've watched have a different lock for the Acting nominations, it definitely depends on taste.

    • @TheOscarExpert
      @TheOscarExpert  5 років тому +1

      On second thought I would probably predict all 3 get nominated. May very well be a The Favorite situation

    • @UniqornGleek29

      The Oscar Expert that could be a great thing for the odds of the film getting an acting win. The only Oscar the Favourite took home was best actress.

    I hear its hard to watch in one sitting, similar to Roma. I guess that means its boring. Will be interesting to see the cinema score. I think Scorcese is full of it, quite obnoxious IMO, to go 3.5hrs. I have to say though that Scorcese was amazing at NYFF Q & A - he's just as sharp as 30yrs ago unlike the actors

    Al Pacino probably has a better chance at a best supporting actor nomination for once Upon a time in Hollywood, or he could get both

    • @thefilmseeker
      @thefilmseeker 5 років тому +8

      Dude he has like 4 minutes of screen time, and he does nothing remarkable with it. Not a chance.

    • @Lamidemonami7891

      He literally has 0 chance getting a nom for Once Upon a Time. Every single one of the 7,000+ Academy voters could vote for supporting actor and he wouldn’t get a single vote. Like it’s not even plausible to suggest that
