  • The International Menopause Society is proud to provide the interview series for women on current topics of interest in the field of menopause.
In the series, IMS Board Member Dr. Marla Shapiro interviews renowned experts on menopause and midlife women’s health.
In this episode Prof. Susan Davis will talk about “Is testosterone the answer to low libido?”
Loss of interest in sex is common in midlife women. This can be due to many things, eg life or relationship stress, medication side-effects and effects of menopause. Testosterone may help some postmenopausal women with low libido. This recording provides information that will help you to speak to your doctor about any concerns you may have about sex.
The interview is available as podcast: www.podbean.com/ew/pb-b6sgx-1...

@Cristobal Colon I had blood drawn to determine my current test level and then given the amount of Biote pellets to boost me at a healthy level. It took several draws over the past 6 months to find my sweet spot and how much I needed. If you are very active and workout, you may burn through them faster. Or at least that was my case.

I would really like to know the name of your doctor and how much testosterone they gave you. I have been dealing with low libido for about six years i’m 56 I finally got my God ecologist to give me 5 mg a day cream compounded up from .05 mg what a waste of money that was. I would even be satisfied with a man’s version using only 1/10 that dose. Any tips would be appreciated thank you. Patty Cappabianca

I'm not a doctor, but yes you can have high testosterone. Check your levels first. If it's low, ask your doctor for the lowest dose. Better yet look for natural alternatives and try lifting weights. Resistance training can boost your testosterone slightly. It's worth a try. 😊

Great insights Prof! It's surprising that Tongkat Ali isn't more widely recognized, especially given its benefits for women. In my family, relying on herbal and natural remedies and supplements has been a tradition for generations. For women, Tongkat Ali offers a plethora of advantages, including serving as an anti-aging supplement for overall revitalization, reducing unwanted weight gains by targeting body fat, enhancing libido and sexual health, promoting stronger lean muscle mass, boosting energy and stamina, improving athletic performance, enhancing mood while reducing stress, tension, and anxiety, as well as alleviating symptoms like hot flashes and joint pain associated with menopause. It's truly a versatile solution! I encourage everyone to give it a try; it might just help you!

I'm currently on a estradiol patch and have a progesterone only IUD because my staining wouldn't let up along with other negative side effects that I was dealing with like bloating, tender breasts and weight gain. My labs show super low testosterone I am 57 and post menopausal. However, my gyno only uses pellets for testosterone but I don't want to go that rout. She offers me no alternative. What are my options as I defintly feel I can benefit from testosterone therapy.

Getting my estrogen level up to even the basic minimum of 300 (range is 300 - 800, apparently), gave me back a good libido, after 10 yrs doemant. I'm now also using testosterone too, for libido and other health benefits. But it seems the estrogen really got things going! 😉

Here in Portugal, compounded Testosterone is the ONLY option. And not to be dismissed. The bashing of compounded medicine is an agenda of Big Pharma to discredit that which is not produced by them. There are many compounding pharmacists who treat their profession with great integrity and precision.

My wife won't take anything for her menopause, she is 3 yrs in, constant hot flushes, mood swings, no sex drive. She thinks all hrt therapies are toxic and will have negative side effects. She thinks her sex drive will just reappear once her menopause has ended, I don't believe this is so. I wish she would try something, if for nothing else than to reduce the moodiness.

Tell her to take Vitex (chaste berry) and Panex Ginseng. It will up and balance her hormones and her sex drive will return in 2 weeks. Take twice a day for two weeks and then she should be able to do once a day. This is all natural.
