I like how they literally just took Dota 2 systems and translated them into a shooter. They just need to rework the map to fit the funky vibes of the characters. I think that a 50's New York with some undead flare might fit, personally.

This game is not your typical hero shooter. It is a MOBA like. A lot of people are gonna turn off to this game because of the items builds, objective and waves management but I think it's got charm. In a sea of first person hero shooters it's trying to be something new.

I think this game looks wonderful. The drab aesthetic allows the important flashy lights to really pop, and they’re not blending in with the background. For example, Imagine if bebop’s ult just blended in with the other flashy gunshots you didn’t need to look at as much, or with painted walls. We’d beat ourselves up so much dude! But calve movement will always be valve movement. The unique movement techs are always a treat to struggle with at least for me, so how much more do the pros enjoy it? Probably unfathomably so!
I think a lot of people saying the graphics look low quality or whatever never played Predecessor. If you have you’ll probably remember just like me how cluttered the game felt. In actuality the UI wasn’t bad but the map had so much foliage that it would make the UI feel cluttered if that makes sense. In deadlock you have grey walls and the occasional colourful piece of cover. Nothing is glaring at you, allowing your eyes to easily focus on important UI elements or the battle at hand. I doubt the textures on walls and stuff will stay the same but it seems that Valve want the world be somewhat muted and everything else like abilities and objectives to be more noticeable.
Would you rather have this game look like Concord? Because while that game had impressive graphics, it's artstyle was incredibly bad and bland that it was part of the reason why it died.

11:43 You push out lanes. That's pretty much it. In most mobas, I think it's healthy to treat towers and the enemy base like soccer goals and enemy heroes like goalkeepers. If the lane is wide open, you push it. But if you can't account for the whereabouts of the other enemy heroes on the map, then be wary of a gank waiting to happen. Or if your lanes being pushed in, you defend it and push it back out. What you should do next is dependent on the state of the map; where your teammates are, where your enemies are, but also where they're not. Then there's the midboss. The game seems to be encouraging its players to push out their lanes far enough to gain priority to be able to take the midboss more safely without the enemy contesting it. I think that's interesting to consider
For mid you essentially want to have half or more of the enemy team die and then all six of you nuke mid as quickly as possible. When rejuvenator descends you have 5 of the six who beat the boss push anyone trying to take it away.
It seems to solve the problem with Dota where it's common for many players to stay behind river without invading and occupying the enemy's farming opportunities. The map and zip lines funnel players to the action.

I kind a like the gameplay on this game, it feels like an anime battle when they fight and not just shooting healing and shielding everywhere, but the texture of the game is not it yet. And it feels more competitive because of added moba mechanics so it makes the skill ceiling high for the players
this version of Yamato is from the last iteration of this game where it was set in some kind of neo-tokyo cyberpunk setting. apparently shes getting a reskin and possibly lore rewrite (not that I can currently read it anyways)

You might like Pocket too. Another ability focused hero with a lot of movement and combos, I put him close to the same camp as Yamato and Lash. Seems like most people don't get him at first but after a few games he clicks and you dominate.
I'm actually addicted to this game. It's super fun. I hope they do some optimization in the coming months because the map and characters are kind of ass. In hero sandbox you can actually try out the unreleased characters, some are so far from being done it is hilarious and some are insanely close to be done, was kinda cool, like one character has a cat on her shoulder
Basically you hit F7 and then type in dump_hero_names and then a list should appear then type heroselect hero_ with the code name of the hero.you want, it's pretty easy.
The game may look not visually great to many, but that's kinda how Valve did DOTA2 too. During early days of DOTA2, they kept the game visually mediocre for a while as they focused on tweaking gameplay mechanics, performance and hero balance before they improved the graphics.
Ngl I hope Marvel Rivals can eventually add a PvE type of mode or a Moba esque mode too where you have to attack an enemy tower, and you have minions, and items that can help upgrade your abilities.
It will be curious to see how Psylocke will be compared to this character, Psylocke in Marvel Rivals is based on the Peach Momoko comics, she is a badass ronin, so maybe she will throw psychic shurikens and cut with the sword, now THAT will be the Rivals Genji, can't be more blatantly Japanese than that

I think that's why people are trying to emphasize that it's a MOBA first then a shooter. The item buying, lane controlling, and minion killing is a core part of that genre's gameplay, so I can understand someone who is looking for more of a traditional hero shooter may not care for that part.

don't know why people keep calling this a hero shooter when it's a moba. Smite is not a hero shooter and it's basically this. just because there are heroes and they all shoot doesn't make it a hero shooter. by that logic, any league match where everyone is playing a ranged character is now a hero shooter. this is a 3rd person moba, through and through. lanes, towers, attacking a base, building items, managing CS (creep score or minion kills) and leveling up. the only hero shooter that's also a moba was Battleborn, you could level but not buy items, there was only one or two lanes not 3-4, etc.
Not only is this a moba but since most are on a 2 dimensional plane it’s easier to follow with abilities but this one has more movement in all directions
real question, are you genuinely like this (hyper and cocky) or do you take meds that make you like this like for adhd? It may explain why your so good at games that require aim and a high attention span

game is actually great. I just hit 173hrs in it. I really hope the game does good and goes somewhere, I'm tired of all these games being made and they just die within a week - month of it release.

don't know why people keep calling this a hero shooter when it's a moba. Smite is not a hero shooter and it's basically this. just because there are heroes and they all shoot doesn't make it a hero shooter. by that logic, any league match where everyone is playing a ranged character is now a hero shooter. this is a 3rd person moba, through and through. lanes, towers, attacking a base, building items, managing CS (creep score or minion kills) and leveling up. the only hero shooter that's also a moba was Battleborn, you could level but not buy items, there was only one or two lanes not 3-4, etc.

MOBAs can be a bit bloated and confusing at first, it def takes some time to learn.
Not only is this a moba but since most are on a 2 dimensional plane it’s easier to follow with abilities but this one has more movement in all directions
