- One in four women and one in six men has been or will be sexually assaulted in America (generally considered an underestimate).
This woman has tucked away the rapes at the hand of her father, the neglect of her mother, the fury that keeps her from faith in anything but her daughter. Her compartments hold lies and harbor enemies that distort her image and tell her she's to blame, and so she deserves more of the same.
Dear woman: you are beautiful as made in the image and likeness of God. You are not alone inside of that black vacuum.
No harm has befallen you that he has not seen - no atrocity that will not be repaid in his justice. Nothing that happens in this life is without purpose. I beg you to look at the cross of Christ and see that even suffering is purposeful - as Jesus' murder and torture became the resurrected hope for all the world. You have a savior good enough to use bad, holy enough to use evil, powerful enough to redeem the most bitter of circumstances for his glory, and for your joy. You have a savior that loves you, that sympathizes with you, whose heart breaks with yours, who weeps when you weep. The only remedy for your wounds is Jesus Christ. He is called the suffering servant, and he knew shame, and he knew your shame, and he will gladly take your shame away.
Don't let your story end without resolve. That light is Christ and he grows more magnificent the more you walk towards him.

you people who are telling him to turn the volume down and breathe more really don't understand that he does it on purpose right? it's the style he likes, and it makes it more powerful and emotional.
Alex Stewart I agree. It's meant to make you wince. It's meant to make you want to turn down the volume but guess what? The things he talks about are REAL and you can't turn down real life. He is reality. He is raw. His voice is meant to be harsh because we aren't supposed to be comfortable because nothing about this pain is okay. People are so sheltered, but this is real. This is what is happening. Right now. And it isn't okay.
The screaming the heavy breathing it's apart of being a TRUE poet; Raw emotion is what a writer puts into his or her word.. Emotion is everything in poetry.
"I just wanted to tell you I think you’re beautiful. I think you’re lovely. I think I know Love that loves the unloving."

i've memorized this, i have watched it so many times and i still get chills every time i listen.
How does this only have 40 thousand views? This is the kind of media that should be blasting through our car radios and the music we talk about. Not all this music that rejoices in misogyny, alcohol, drugs, and money. This right here is complete truth. This is the reality that a majority of humanity has chosen to ignore. And everything about that is wrong.
I have my past, and this poem speaks to me more than any of his work has. Beautifully written, underrated for sure, and raw. I love it!

Then during this poem he came up to me and looked straight into my eyes and held my shoulders and said the line "you're beautiful, you're lovely." I was never able to talk to him and I know he was just saying the poem but I hadn't heard that before. I was called trashy or slutty or sexy but never beautiful. I never felt beautiful. I cry every time I hear his poems. They all tug at my heart. Levi helped me get straight with myself.
After all the times I've listened to this, it still shakes all I keep inside. It makes me think and face some realities I can't bear. Thank you for making me step out of my mind's comfort zone, sometimes it's needed. Keep up with the great work you're doing.

+Cassandra Burrow I know who both of them are, and I love them deeply. But I just can't see where you get it. Watsky's "style" is more rap-like, while Tyler's is more fast-paced. There's not much in common with these 3 artists. Levi, he doesn't rap at all. He's repetitive when it comes to his poems (not a bad thing). It is completely different. Just saying..

Crying shows extreme emotion. It doesn't get anymore extreme than when God is moving. God sure is moving through this poem.

I'm an atheist and even this made me tear jerk. Despite his religious references, it still holds a valuable message because it is so relatable.
I always get goosebumps every time I listen to this poem. Each time I hear it, I depict smaller and stronger details I didn't get the first, second, third, nor fourth time, but got the fifth time and each time it's still the best one I've heard yet. God Bless you Levi. Keep up the great work!

I have listened to this so much i have it memorized..oh goodness this is amazing. so honest and beautiful
Three times through now. Each time has been better than the last. So much too this. None of it is random. Really digging the first part about the pill popping. Subtle. The clay analogy is fantastic as well. The ending to that stanza I only caught the meaning of the third time through. Shit is dope. "I want so badly to see color" that entire stanza you tie in the water, the cracks, the drawers... the whole stanza ties the rest together. Amazing.

To this day I still believe this is one of the most beautiful and moving things I have ever seen.
This is excellent. It really expresses someone's pain in a way that it appears they have never been able to explain to others something so cruel and horrible, I feel someone really misunderstood, forgotten and deeply rejected for years in it. Can really relate. This would be a great sermon for people who have no idea how that feels, though many these days do. Great job.
