- The Shema, a central declaration of faith in Judaism, holds significant importance. It is recited upon rising and before lying down, as prescribed in the Torah, which instructs us to keep the words of the Shema in our hearts and to diligently teach them to our children. We are to recite the words of the Shema daily when lying down and when rising, reminding us to pay attention to our one true God.
