Mom #1 crosses the road, but her baby stays with Mom#2 and her baby. When mom #1 baby attempts to get to close to mom #2 it is pushed away. Both babies cross the road and now it’s mom #1 that pushes mom #2 baby away. It’s all about “you’re not my baby” and teaching the babies to keep track of their moms.
Exactly. You can see the non vocal mother issuing a trunk movement as well to the vocal mother’s baby telling it to go back to its mother. The vocal mother unintentionally frightened her own baby. I thunk she meant to frighten them both a bit, but her own baby acted like it wanted the other mom for 2 seconds lol
It appears the calf was misbehaving in some way - lagging behind, rolling around on the ground, not following mom and she disciplined him/her. Little one apparently got the message!
Indeed 😏....nothing "strange" here.....elephants ,....all living creatures, have conflicts now and then..... This elephant cow just pushed her baby ,(OOH MY GOSH !!).....maybe a slight reprimand for naughty behaviour ......these babys , how cute they are , are not made of glass.....and can handle a push.
@@PAULLONDEN From Canada: Thanks for the comment. In Canada we don't have elephants so we dn't have the same understanding of them and their behaviour. but a mother elephant as I understand it is very posessive, but is she typically so posessive as to alienate the calf of another morther in the herd? I was thinking mabe the two calves wanted to befroiend each other but the parents had other ideas?
That female pushing the claves is not the mother but she cloud either be a female from a rival herd due to her ears being flared and her head held high and chin tucked in or just a member of the same herd telling the claves go back to your older bother.
It's probably orphaned elephant that is trying to join the herd. He has falled down already before. Probably, he is week. The baby will not resist long time without milk. He will die. If you see baby elephant alone or outcast by the herd, call the nearest wildlife service. In each African country there is one. Just one call could save the life
Each baby elephant needs to stick close to their own mom where there could be predators or when the herd is on the move. Baby elephants who separate and lose their mom, usually end up dead. These two babies are playful and distracting each other from the discipline of each sticking by their mom. First mom is letting all of them know the rules. Second mom seems to be inexperienced as mother and is allowing the babies to misbehave.
What looks like a "road" might be where a wall was that got took down? And this is the two elephant groups actually interacting together? It's like they're not rivals or enemies but unsure of each other. Like, they're familiar with each other but never met. IDK! I'm probably making no sense.
Elephants are an asset to any country (don't misunderstand that other animals are not important)It's the responsibility of the authorities and the general public to take immediate steps to protect these innocent animals
It looks to me as though baby1 pushes baby2 over, the babies belong to the respective cows, the mother of baby2 pushes baby1 over in order to say that it is not OK to bully my baby. Baby1 then follows the aunty in an effort to be forgiven.
Nothing to see here. She wasnt sure which kid was heres is all, confused but resolved the issue. An incident would have been if she turned both babies into pulp. which didnt happen.
it is just the woman saying " I said im not taking the kids with me tonight, you can watch them while i have some me time" and the guy is like ohhh no your not.
I wonder if the mother of the baby that got tumbled was a lower ranking female and, therefore, her baby is, too. I read where higher ranking mothers often won’t let lower ranking mothers’ babies play with theirs. If it was a lower ranked baby, maybe the mother of the other one didn’t want it around her baby. I was sad to learn the info that lower ranked babies don’t get to play as much as the other babies.
Most of the "animal people" who have seen this, including our guides on the trip, think that there is a conflict between the two adults and that the baby is just caught up in the confusion. The difference of opinion is whether the chasing elephant is a female trying to drive a maturing male out of the family or whether it's two females arguing about something. Part of what is confusing is that the baby which is bowled over follows the adult that bowled it over.
Thanks for the video but nothing special was achieved by zooming at speed 25%. Plain picturization would have been more better - just like a treat o the eyes.
They do some strange stuff sometimes. I saw a matriarc block a mom n it's baby from the water hole bfor. It was thought that shed been jealous bcuz the baby was created by the same father of her last ellie. Not in a million yrs would I have thought THAT!! That's when i learned they have they same emotions we have
This video would be more popular if it wasn't for the silly slow motion and zooming, it's boring. Elephants have disagreements all the time, it's nothing special, I was yawning at the 25% slow motions zoomed crop of elephant 1 to be honest! Suggest you re edit the video to make it no longer than 90 seconds.

Thank you for this footage!
One thing you can guarantee about elephants is when there are babies in the herd they are capable of anything!
It appears the calf was misbehaving in some way - lagging behind, rolling around on the ground, not following mom and she disciplined him/her. Little one apparently got the message!
Mom was letting her baby know that she needs to pay attention, keep up, and follow her rather than lag behind and play with other baby.
Mother elephant just saying, I'm not taking the kids tonight I told you this is my bingo night.

The mother elephant was dishing out a lil disciplen to remind or to let the calf know, to keep up.

What a joiful scenary to see these many happy elephant families........
Joyful scenario

Elephants are wild animals, and they do animal things...no other explanation. Elephants are not always kind to each other.
Les humains n'ont plus
Just a thought, wouldn't it be a good idea to have a camouflage canopy on jeep. This will minimise human exposure and reduce risk?
Without knowing the relationship between the two mothers, it’s hard to figure what that’s about. They don’t seem related. 🤔 hmmm

Hey, thanks for the video!
What’s up w/ all the negative and hateful comments people?? incivility never ceases its appalling onslaught.
Unreal. Lots of keyboard ninjas on the rampage. They are saying much more about themselves than anything else. Blessings to all 🐘🙋💜🌱🌍
Looks like the babies were confused about what mother was theirs. The mother on the left was certainly not as tolerant as the one on the right.
Naturally Mom likes it's baby more than other's

Do we really need to see it at different speeds 🙄
Time wasting method nothing new in the entire video
Nope
Did the first elephant think that instead of falling over that the 2nd elephant knocked her baby over? Seems likely.
I think she thought the other mother was trying to steal her baby maybe
El elefante tiene su pata machucada.
Amazing how those babies learn what each of the trumpetings mean👍🏻😁‼️

Big herd. They don’t appear to be upset by tourists.
Or that they left members behind
ELEFANTE EU CONCIDERO COM REI DA NATUREZA!

ELES TEM UM CENTIMENTO INCRÍVEL! NEM EM SERES HUMANO É DIFICIO DE VER!
It's easy for the calfs to be confused as to which one is the mother
mum wanted dad to take both kids for the day but dad was having none of it
Wth with the zooming and slow motion hhahahah
Waste
it is just the woman saying " I said im not taking the kids with me tonight, you can watch them while i have some me time" and the guy is like ohhh no your not.
chaseme81871 Wheres Aunti? Burden her.

Well tension / stress was high, erect tails

Elephants don't have ranks like monkeys. They all parent which is why this is unusual.

I feel this strange behavior is because the elephant's natural habitat is shrinking to nothing.

Featherlake. You need to get off your high horse.
😆 bro they wrote that 8yrs ago
The female seems to have been stressed by a prior incident with the second female and the calf was just used as a scape goat but not hurt
Pls dont harm or. Hunt pls .wonder if they r still alive.
maybe that was a lost baby and didn't belong to them
The mother scolded the baby for being so scared of the car and for being influenced by the other mother who was scared of the car and car track.
That video was so rediculous! Why would you show the baby getting hurt over and over again!!!
Someone should shot the calves with different colored paintballs to help differentiate which calf goes to which elephant.
