Being a native Angelino, and with no disrespect to all the beach bands, metal bands, folk music folk, and great punk bands, The Blasters are the best live band ever come out of LA! And yes, I’ve been around since Ricky Nelson’s early days.
They were an awesome live act. A heavy Creedence vibe, along with everything else in the musical universe. A special place in my heart. Many happy memories.
Maybe one of the best bar bands. Los Lobos is a good bar band too. But Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against The Machine and Toto in their own genres killed it Live too. And I'm older than dirt. 👀
Just got the CD- Dark night:Live in Philly recorded July 19,1986. Came out on Record Store Day 2019 on vinyl, then on CD couple of months later. Two discs. Hollywood Fats on guitar, he die 5 months later.
I love music and I love tons of bands, but, for me, there is nothing better than This. Its pure and raw. I really feel that This music enter into my veins and Bones. Ir maybe is my hearth dancing and jumping. I really think that they are not conscienceses of the Big they are.
great to discover this video. I saw this band 3 times in 1985-86, in NYC and Long Island, and collected their studio albums. these guys were and are the real deal - great writing, ferocious playing, and pure Americana.
Surprises Me that I grew up in the 1980s during my 20s. All the music magazines wrote about them. But Who Where were They buying albums?? Oh yeah Radio gets the black eye Here
As a starving college kid I went and bought a VCR specifically to record this and the Los Lobos show. Think I wore the tape out watching over and over. Thanks for posting.
What a hoot! Phil screws up the lyrics right at the very beginning of the show and the guys just go on like nothing happened. Gotta think Dave loved that. Anyway, thanks so much Brian Rector for sharing this. So many good memories of Blasters concerts during the 80s at the Bayou in D.C. My favorite band ever. I shared this with a friend who told me he had this concert on Beta.
now that folks is rock and roll!!!!!!

NICE! Never saw one bad Blasters show. Shook Bateman's hand once, at Club Lingerie in '87. Like a lumberjack. Heroes, forever.
