I was fortunate enough to visit for two days last week with a great friend of mine. I was/am completely in love with the city. Absolutely charming place and will definitely go back soon.
I've lived in York all my life but five months ago I moved 45 minutes down the road I love the history and the buildings we have much of them are the original buildings I miss my home town but wouldn't change my life for anything as its where I'm from and I'm not that far from home anyway.
+Tom Ward Never had a tour bus but we enjoy the boat ride every time we are there! Always thought it is not much in the bus, was it really entertaining?! Having kids, I always worry they will get bored easily (8 and 10 yrs old)
I've not had a chance to go back to York since the pandemic started. Between the various lockdowns and travel restrictions, it always felt too uncertain to book a holiday in advance. Hopefully 2022 will be the year I go back.
Hi TexDad1971 - the Victorian Street attraction in the video is at the York Castle Museum, you can find more details on our website. You can also find loads of other things to see and do in York. We hope you enjoy your stay in York.
York has been one of my favourite places to visit in the UK! I keep going to it whenever I pass by! It kind of where my train wants to stop every time hahahaha :)
Choco Candy if your train dosen’t stop at YorkI hope it continues on to Edinburgh where it is a beautiful city. Lots of scenery and architecture than York. I like York and visited many times with my late wife Rita who was a Yorkshire lass.x
Notorious Cards Yeah, we know. Everything’s racist. Oh wait, a dog just walked past my house, probably racist! (Opens window) ”hey pal, your dog’s racist, he should be put to sleep”. How can York be racist when they “welcomed” the Vikings?
I was appalled when I went to the Cathedral and there was like a £10 fee to get in... I was there in 1991,1993,1995,1997,1999,2001,2003,2004 & 2009..Im not sure which of those years it began but Id guess it was 2004. In every town we stay in in England we go to the Cathedrals/Churches for Evensong What a blow to Christianity that they put a fee to get into the church. And at York they resiliantly blocked us.At one another Cathedral in the South, knowing we were there for Evensong they welcomed us
In my experience Evensong like all services, is free at York Minster. The charge is for tourists, not worshippers. Say you are there for a service and you get in no problem so long as one is about to take place. I agree the price is too steep for a casual visit, but I don't have to maintain a thousand year old structure.
I'm a muslim girl moving to york in a few months. I was just wondering, are people there accepting of other religions and open minded? I don't want to be discriminated against because of my faith and headscarf. I'm so nervous :/
Don'.t worry about it. I have been there twice and I've never seen any problem about religion preferences. Actually, in The university of York there are several muslims studying there. Relax and Enjoy your stay!
Alaa Nouasri I'm a Muslim guy and been working in York for over 12 years and never had any problem..everyone jus relaxed and chilled out..minding own business

In the museum there, there's a story of a Roman legionnaire who haunts the premises. very spooky...
What is more amazing is that what he said proved - with research - to be totally true!
Where’s Clifford’s Tower? That’s a must-see!

They've had to pay for renovations some years now, they charge so it won't decay and become dangerous. It's done all over the world!

Don't worry at all Belkis, we don't discriminate. I'm a resident of 30 years.
You will be welcomed with open arms. Hope you enjoy York.

Red Shutter Photography Its more depressing than it looks in videos. And there's actually not much to do once you get past the pretty touristy centre.
