@@Rindiculousfun no he wouldn't. What an utterly stupid comment. Who would you remove from the top 6 on the Flames to stick Granlund in? The guy was spare parts in Calgary, they traded a player they didn't want or need for potential that didn't pan out.
Sam Bennett shows glimmers of promise as he led the Flames in playoff scoring. The improvements on him seem to be more Mike Sillinger with faceoff win percentage and versatility as he has seen more use as a winger. Offense has not developed beyond his rookie season.
Do one on Stefan Legein. from Team Canada U-20, to 2nd round NHL pick, to temporarily quitting hockey, to the 2nd German league, to retiring, to coaching the Steelheads in the OHL
It's saddening to hear this news as I went to school with him from junior high to high school. I hope he has some good future prospects in terms of NHL teams and I wish him the best in his future endeavors
Bro I'm serious make this a series these are so enjoyable! It hurts that we traded Grandlund for him cause Shinkaurk isn't that great :/ Flames either hit or miss on trades and it shows.. Don't think Shinkaurk will ever crack a lineup sadly
People don’t realize how devastating serious injuries can be when a player is 18 or 19. That’s prime development years just wiped out, and sometimes they just don’t recover.
Hayley Kelleher yakupov/galchenyuk both played for the ohl team in the city i grew up in, both of them would be good to do I'mo, this is the same ohl team Stamkos came from😅
I remember when he used to play for the tigers watching him live was crazy Edmonton should pick him off waivers and put him along mcdavid instant 30 goals
The thing is, he needs actual NHL experience to transition.. but I really feel like he could succeed there. I'm a Flames fan, and the line up doesn't support/bolster his play style - rather, his play style would be something that would become a team dynamic... and that's just not happening with where he's at.
thanks for sharing the video. a few years ago i thought the Reinhart brothers were going to become like the new Stahl brothers , but i guess not, though Sam is having some success at least in Buffalo, it seems like Griffin is one or two more call ups away from his last chance and Max may not even have a contract this year.
My hometown is Medicine Hat. My father had season tickets for years. Knows a lot of the staff etc. Word is he’s a diva, thought he was the next best thing to sliced bread. Wasn’t well liked by teammates, and over all had huge character problems. This isn’t just unsubstantiated rumours, it was well known in Medicine Hat. That’s why he dropped so much in the draft, as some scouts had him in the top ten. As a Flames fan, I liked Granlund, good player, but he was just out played by other guys coming up. Flames took a chance they could maybe get through to Hunter, as a project and get him back on track. Kind of a low risk, high reward trade. But looks like he will either stay on Montreal’s farm team and maybe grow up some. And start putting the work in. Or off to the KHL...
These titles are very misleading. First of all he wasn't a "machine" in juniors but he was very good. Second he went 24th overall. Third most people haven't heard this kids name until now myself included. Fourth he has 4 points in 15 games not horrible and there wasn't that much hype around him if that's true he would of gotten picked higher.
There’s always a guy who gets insane hype every draft and a lot of these guys don’t work out but some certainly do. Shinkaruk clearly had the biggest hype that year and it drove his draft stock up too much. Sonny Milano was the hypster of his draft and Yamamoto was it in 2017. 2018 Joe Veleno is that guy but he actually got drafted at a more realistic spot when taking out the hype
I liked how Yamamoto played from what I saw at the start of the year, but they definitely wouldn't stop blowing him up because the Gretzky connection. Kotkaniemi got bumped up because his position and montreal's dire need to develop a proper top centre so I wouldn't call him overhyped.. he just jumped up the draft order and created a buzz in doing so.
Calgary Flames did qualify him but probably on his last contract with the franchise. Originally most Calgary Flames wanted Hunter Shinkaruk over Emile Poirier at the draft but both players don't look for long in the NHL as Calgary didn't qualify Emile Poirier and is a UFA.
He was 4th in scoring amongst fwds last season in Stockton, so it's clearly not a great team, and you mentioned injuries affecting his development. I'm glad he's able to move on from the Heat and hopefully he can be an impact player for Laval.
Was sad he couldn't turn things around with the flames... with the off season additions, it seems like he'll get lost in the system and dropped. Couple kids trying to develop in the system that are running out of time... Poirier, Klimchuk... Smith got dropped to the ECHL after peaking in Junior his last year... goaltenders like Gillies and MacDonald are struggling to make the jump despite hype. Parsons had a bad first year in the E... glad that Andersson, Valimaki, and Mangiapane have looked good... and Janko is finally there.. plus Hathaway and Lomberg vying for heart and soul roles.
Holy team of busts... Shinkaruk, Emerson Etem, and Tyler Pitlick (at least he’s a legit NHLer, but probably hoped for more than a fourth liner with the 31st overall pick)... note to self, never draft from Medicine Hat.
These dipsy-doodling, toe-dragging highlight machines are often one dimensional players, or are overly dependent on top notch linemates. We've seen this story before.
Basically just reading out his career stats without any analysis or insight. Also, why do you have that upwards deflection of your voice, ending every sentence as a question?
Charlos Craigito I was elected in by the selection committee. Are you implying I don't deserve that? In my 25 plus years at the helm of this league I've been responsible for growing the game into a multi-billion dollar industry, found credible and well-heeled owners for markets that seemed hopeless, and shepherded the game through enormous change and transition, while simultaneously staying true to its roots.
He's a one dimensional player,,,,all about what the spoiled brat can do for himself. Watched his entire junior career with the Tigers. He showboat and was selfish.
And I remember I was pissed off that they drafted him like can we get some big bodies that throw their weight around when you get those then the little guys with skill will be protected but who does Vancouver have that'll crashing bang and burn
He never put in the work after injuries. He is physically weaker now than his junior years. He has lost confidence and so isn't motivated to do the work in the summer. Poor work ethic and training. He has no future in ANY league other than a weaker league like maybe the Swiss League, but with the limit on foreign players there, he may not get picked up anywhere. He is currently an unsigned, restricted free agent. Things look bleak at best for this guy. I think maybe the East coast league or NAHL or something similar......either that or go back to school...maybe take up dentistry like his dad.
thanks for sharing the video. a few years ago i thought the Reinhart brothers were going to become like the new Stahl brothers , but i guess not, though Sam is having some success at least in Buffalo, it seems like Griffin is one or two more call ups away from his last chance and Max may not even have a contract this year.
OhNyquist : No teams has a place for him
Bergevin: Hold my molson...
clasic move by montreal
Everyone knows that he will end up in Laval...
I bet Bergevin watched this video and then said I want this guy
Interesting fact. He's actually a top 9 scoring sniper in my Flames GM Mode.
Markus Granlund is better... at least :/
I remember when everyone was so angry that trade deadline day
Granlund wouldn’t even make Calgary anyway so
LOL Granlund would be in the top 6 on the Lames.
@@Rindiculousfun no he wouldn't. What an utterly stupid comment. Who would you remove from the top 6 on the Flames to stick Granlund in? The guy was spare parts in Calgary, they traded a player they didn't want or need for potential that didn't pan out.

He just led Calgary in points in the playoffs. Don’t count him out just yet

I remember I was so mad when the Canucks traded him. Now I feel happy we got Granlund.
smile tosahm mikael granlund plays for minnesota
Kova Mies they traded for Markus Granlund
I did guess that Vancouver will win in that trade.
Roni Rytkonen joo en tiennykkää okei kiitos tiedosta!
Which tells a lot about fans' initial reactions to trades ;)

Idontgivetkachuk Granlund wouldn’t make Calgary anyway so whys this matter?
Idontgivetkachuk Gaudreau-Monahan-Neal
Tkachuk-Backlund-Lindholm
Bennett-Ryan-Frolik
Mangiapane-Jankowski-Czarnik
At this point Granlund is better than Tkachuk. Definitely better than all those third liners lol.
Rindiculous
you can't be serious, are you a canucks fanboy?
The Great White North ew no, I'm a Flames fan lmao Grandlund is better than Shinkaurk
How many people think slot of these talented guys are drafted by wrong team. Which is why they don't develop into the player projected......
Gilbert Brule and Nikita Filatov
People don’t realize how devastating serious injuries can be when a player is 18 or 19. That’s prime development years just wiped out, and sometimes they just don’t recover.
No team in the NHL would want this guy... except Montreal apparently.
Yeah he dropped really far, I was ecstatic when we drafted him. Sad that he didn’t work out
Love your videos like this! Maybe do videos about Zach Hamil or Nail Yakupov.
Hayley Kelleher yakupov/galchenyuk both played for the ohl team in the city i grew up in, both of them would be good to do I'mo, this is the same ohl team Stamkos came from😅
I remember having such high hopes for this kid
Great vid ...loving this series keep it up man!
Thank you man:)
WELCOME TO MONTREAL
Do you think the Montreal trade might help
I remember when he used to play for the tigers watching him live was crazy Edmonton should pick him off waivers and put him along mcdavid instant 30 goals
Cam Talbot HaHA
The thing is, he needs actual NHL experience to transition.. but I really feel like he could succeed there. Why do players in the whl get less recognition than in the O or Q
Josh less talent. Just population wise.
Josh better coaching and overall better culture. WHL is a goon factory
Guess MTL was the one team to take a chance on him...
You could do a entire series on the canucks picks.
Darick Holler ; as a Canucks fan, I cannot believe how many 1st round busts in a row we've had man just fucking ridiculous.
Tremonti604 lol we as Canucks fans gonna see some exciting moments in the future we gonna eat cups
At least we got Granlund out of all of it

I just don’t think he had the work ethic to improve be his game and that’s why he never cracked the Canucks or Flames.
I remember in nhl 14 is was a elite 😅
Coyotes should claim him or Edmonton should

Goes to show, you can light up in Juniors but the NHL is 3 steps up from there.
I think its time Dylan McIlrath gets a "what happened to" video. He was supposed to be this great big two way defensemen. Never happened
Ryan Branigan literally almost everyone after him, was better in the 1st round
Do Griffin Reinhart
This guy also played with Emerson Etem (where have I heard that name)
Oh snap! I'm stoked for this one! Fucking bust and a half.

It’s too early to tell for Yamamoto and way too early for Veleno considering he got drafted 2 months ago. Do you have a crystal ball or something?
Don’t show this video to Vancouver, *I heard they don’t like him* 🤫
Graviteh We got Granlund for him
Great move for MTL
Montreal just traded Kirby Rychel for him
Kerby*
Hunter is now a Hab.
now he's a Montreal Canadian
and now just traded to Montreal! lol

really upset he did not make it to a good player in the NHL he was amazing on his junior team and with team Canada
And now he is a Charlotte Checker with a AHL contract.
LOL a week after you made that video, he was traded to Montreal for Kerby Rachel.
He was regarded as a very hit or miss prospect during the draft. That's why he fell so low in the first round. He ended up being a miss.
Welcome to Montreal Mr bust!
Well now he’s in Montreal. Which means he’ll play first line.
This is coming from a habs fan.
Holy team of busts... Shinkaruk, Emerson Etem, and Tyler Pitlick (at least he’s a legit NHLer, but probably hoped for more than a fourth liner with the 31st overall pick)... note to self, never draft from Medicine Hat.
The NHL expansion franchise Seattle, would be a good a future solution for him.
He's one of those guys with an elite talent level but cant put it together in the NHL
Granlund had to be moved. There was and still no spot for him in the top nine in calgary.
You should have interviewed the player as to why he can't succeed at even the AHL level.

He was overrated by the mother Canucker’s and CalGAYry Flame-on’s. His junior stats weren’t all that fantastic.
Hey are we having a lockout soon or what?
Gary Bettman
Fuck u Gary! Ur the worse thing that happened to the NHL
CanadianJock Yup, 2020.
Gary Bettman
The fact u made a fan page for Gary Bettman is absolutely ridiculous. He fuckin inducted himself in the HHOF for fuck sakes

McCaron better
you mean the guy who is 6"5 and afraid to go in the corner ? who doesnt have a nhl place right now ? mccarron a pussy
Both are busts. McCarron looks lost on the ice half the time and can't keep up with the NHL pace
Lol I was joking. Both are shit.
Welcome to Hv71
I feel that this is all irrelevant. Long live the Mighty Ducks.
Canucks have absolutely no idea how to develop young players, for one.
Annnnnnnnddd he got traded
Make a Hicketts video
Prob has a Justin Bieber toothbrush.
just got traded

chirps.....

Well we got Virtanen and for some reason everyone labels him a bust as well...lol the hypocrisy.
I watched him in junior. He is a selfish player and has a bad attitude. No team wants that.
early af
Edustava what do u mean lol

I think a few videos you should do would be on Joel Eriksson Ek and Andre Burakovsky and how they were highly thought of and just havent got it done
you should do a video on the strome brothers
Dylan reestablished his future super star status in Chicago and Ryan has refound his game in New York, there's always Matthew but...
