Stories about the Chevy Cosworth: a customer came to the dealer, cash in hand, wanting to buy a Cosworth Vega the night before it was supposed to be officially on sale, so the dealer turned him away, That Cosworth was never sold. One problem was the price in 1975 of the Cosworth and a Corvette were pretty close and by 1975 the Vega had established a reputation as a poorly made car. Another story: when GM- made aluminum blocks were shipped to Cosworth in England for testing, it was found many of the blocks were defective. The fuel injection is controlled by a computer. If you need a new one good luck finding it (perhaps the Cosworth Owners Club might have some leads). Some owners replaced the fuel injection system with 2 Weber carbs.
I know a dude in Dudley, Massachusetts who owns a decent Vega similar to yours, i could connect you 2/ also I believe Dave’s Vega village still exists in Canada
man your going to have a nice car when finished-sporty too/just hand wash it after maintance /put some carbola wax on paint/put a spark denotion system on in an bump timing to may be 20 degree inital timing/i think jacobs electroics has a great one/call them/you guys are good /if you plan to keep that jeam/then put a water injection system on it /does it have 140 speed odomer/or 160/run a dry compression an wet test too/thanks much
@@L8R-HP i meant im not buying the story .. bull. Who abandons a collectible and very expensive car ( now in 2022 ) like the Cosworth Vega ??? What a fool !!!
@@L8R-HP just fyi that Cosworth Vega today in 2022 goes from between $ 25,000 and some examples fetching up to $ 70,000 depending on condition. Not bad for a “ lowly “ Vega 👍
corrosion on the wire connectors, if the tcfi module "transistor controled fuel injection" is burnt could just swap a carburetor set on it. just get 4 made for a 450cc dirt bike
Saw one of those a few years ago that had a turbo ecotech 4cyl and an older tko500, said it made 450ish whp with AC. Said its his GFs car ran 7.80s 1/8 mile with her driving, he said he was only allowed to drive it to pick her other cars parts up lol
Those cosworth vegas are rare and collectible I hope you plan on keping i original it will be worth more then throwing a V8 in it. those things went good for a 4 banger

You have any questions ask, I’ve owned a 73gt for 20yrs V8action
I can’t wait to see more from this reincarnation! I know Vegas had a bad rap but the Cosworth was something special. You’ll get her going!

I believe the Achilles heel with these cars was galvanic corrosion between the aluminum block and iron head.
The only thing running in that shop is that mouse is 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Some say that mouse is still on the run 😂
I'm from the UK and would love one of these. To me it looks like a Camaro front stuck on a Opel Kadett C body. Kind of. Great video! New subscriber.
Nice crosworth

Nice!
Thanks bro 😎
Sweet car in really good shape !
Grab some old fox body injectors, they are EV1s and will work fine plus most people give them away or next to nothing
Nice! Thanks for the tip!

Change the oil use the long small block oil filter. Oil the cylinders. Car had two fuel pumps. One low presher in the tank one high presher external.
There’s part 2 to this video
Python Industries rebuilds the stock fuel pump for $250.00.

Haha nice! That would be cool. It’s a tiny car, would be fun to drive 🤩
Cool find
I have a chance at getting a 76 vega around me for 19K, but now scared i wont be able to find parts!! Its is in great shape and running! This sucks!!

So I shouldn’t have scrapped it? Damn….
I am curently rebuiding the engine in my cosworth because someone used starting fluid . I own a 2 stroke diesel and i would not even use it on that.
Starting fluid is for starting engines 🤫
I would never use it on a diesel unless I had to
Change the fuel hoses to fuel injection hose.
Why were you spraying starter fluid inside the air box when the air box is unhooked? The hoses are unhooked from the intake, watch your vid again !🇺🇸
Spraying into the throttle bodies directly to by pass the air box.
What are you doing it's fuel injected Do you know what your doing you need the proper fuel PSI
😂😂😂
I'm not sure this is the best mechanic.....
I’m the bestest 😅
Drop an Ecotech 2.0 LT3 crate motor in it!
Update??!! SVEIKS!!
