Thanks mate, an old fella I knew used to say “so long as you don’t wash the oil off them, they’ll run forever” experience is starting to tell me he was pretty spot on.
I had a couple of white XA Falcons. First one was a 1972 XA, from 1982 to 1984. The second one was a clapped out, rust bucket 1973 XA, from 1986 to 1990. I remember they were comfortable & roomy.
They feel huge compared to the things we have today. The low slung seats, the long bonnets and the suspension that feels like you’re floating is an experience you don’t really forget.
Bush mechanics at it's best, can't wait for part 2. I put one of these on it's roof years ago. Put a couple of straps on it, pulled it back over with a cruiser and drove off. Used it for 3 more years and sold it all dented up. 😂 Subbed.
Even dented, smashed up they are a great car. Friends of ours had a wagon when I was young with a “highway bin” where you kick the floor mat out and reveal the hole in the floor you could drop a football through. 😂
Thanks mate, first step is to get it driving, then we will treat any of the problem spots and after that we will decide what kind of resto and power train we are going to go with.
Look, I'm a Holden fan, but those old cast iron 250's were a great engine. Actually, I didn't mind the later alloy headed one's either. I kinda wish Holden had spent the money back in the day on an alloy head for the 202. But... they didn't, and the rest is history. At least Aussie Ford and Holden fan's, oh and not forgetting the Chrysler supporters too, have got some great locally made legacy engines to play around with. We've just got to keep them going. Cheers all, and enjoy the ride!
Holden, ford, valiant, Datsun, Toyota I love all the old Aussie built stuff. I would love to see a resurgence in Aussie built cars but unfortunately I think you’re right, we are just going to have to do our best to keep the ones we have going. Cheers mate, stay tuned for the other Aussie rigs we have coming up!
My dad had a 1976 XB Ford Falcon Fairmont with the 250 cubic inch 6, a brilliant highway car, Borg Warner column shift three speed auto and very comfortable. Australian Ford Falcons were great cars, had great export potential if engineered for left hand drive, not made anymore, shame on Ford's decision makers in Dearborn Michigan U.S. of A.
G’day bloke, welcome and glad to have you here. Next video will be out next week and I’ve got a few things in the pipeline that might be of interest. I prefer the simplicity of old cars, all the wires and electrotronics tend to hurt my brain 😂
I actually prefer the xa to the xb but that's just my preference, both model falcons are nice (even though I own three mk11 zephyrs). The 250 ci engines were very good.
The XA definitely wins it for me but I love the XB as well. The XB Ute build is coming up early next year. We are going to see if we can make it comfortable enough to drive every day.
They are comfy enough for now. Not entirely sure on what to do with the interior so they may get recovered or replaced. This old girl has been sitting out at my parent’s farm for years (since early 2008) I think we paid $1500 for it back when it was bought. I bought the farm from them and it has continued to sit for several more years until now.
I had the exact same poo brown rustfree xa sedan that i sold for $500 in the early 90's. Was a holden bloke, spewing as rustfree xa's are worth gold now..😢
We’ve all done it mate, I had a factory 308 Vk brock mock up that I sold for $1500 because the trans let go and I couldn’t justify the money to fix it. It hurts but we didn’t know then what we know now.
@dank713 yer done the same with a couple of vk mockups too. Sold a rustfree zh fairlane for $2k about 15 years ago, same bloke who bought it sold it a year later for $12k, only sold it cheap cos it was only a 302 with borgy diff..😂😂😂 the things we did back before everything went up. Nowadays everyone thinks they got a million $ old car when in reality....
I bet if it holds water and transmission fluid and got a 250 pre crossflow it will shit it in doing 150km , splash petrol in carby pull choke and pump it 5 times start it up , oh shit oil 1st
Here’s hoping. Clean the carb out, fluids and brakes and we will let her rip…or sputter most likely, overheat, break down somewhere and then I’ll tow it home like I probably should have in the first place
Ya can't kill those old 250 cubic inch motors in a XA falcon years ago. Good Video mate 👍
Thanks mate, an old fella I knew used to say “so long as you don’t wash the oil off them, they’ll run forever” experience is starting to tell me he was pretty spot on.
My dad had one, but with bench seats 3 on the tree. Remember many early mornings I had to help push it for him to so it would crank over.
Must be an old ford thing😂 our friends dad had an old xd that was the same. I remember pushing it at the bus stop to roll start it
The front end of these always reminds me of mk3 cortina 😂happy days 😂
The XA falcon is what the mk3 Cortina wants to be when it grows up 😂

@@dank713 They made great taxi's, how many k's are on it?
By the Speedo 25000 miles but I’d say that’s probably more like 225000 miles
@@dank713 cheers.
Well done mate deserves restoring depending on your plans and your budget
Thanks mate, first step is to get it driving, then we will treat any of the problem spots and after that we will decide what kind of resto and power train we are going to go with.
I’m subscribed and will be waiting for part two.
Part 2 will be coming very soon, a couple of unexpected surprises to sort out (which you will see in the video) and it will be good to go!
good episode mate - waiting forr the next one.
Thanks mate, next one is coming next week
Love the XA's UA-cam needs more XA falcon vidoes with the 4 door sedan without mods i think :D
Hang about and we’ll see what we can do for you 👌
Great old girl
Thanks mate, can’t help but love these old girls. Stay tuned to see how it goes on its first drive.

Looks a lot like a cortina MK3. Lovely
I can see that now that you’ve mentioned it

They are a great car to drive. I wish they had have kept the Australian ford and Holden manufacturing going, we had some really cool and unique cars.
I drove a 1972 Ford Fairlane around Australia in about 1989..surf trip.
Sold it to a wreckers for $300 after. 😂
If only we knew then what we know now 😂
G'day mate, a new subscriber from Western Australia...can't wait for next video, mate....old cars are better than these new gadgets on wheels...😅😊😊😊

G'day from Brooksys channel!!
Gday Brooksy, how you doing over there bloke?
Eagers! Mint! 👍
Cheers Mate!
A guy has a hint of Derekness.
Haha Can a guy just make his videos just a little bit successful like Vice Grip Garage….nope probably not… gunna be terrible 😂
trying a little too hard to be Derek
@@makingtracksadventures haha really isn’t anyone quite like Derek, but I appreciate you seeing a similarity

Good find. Those front buckets look like XD Fairmont Ghia seats. The factory buckets are way better to be honest.
Can we ask how much yo paid for it ?

Beast
Cheers Mate, plan is to make it feel as much Beauty as it is Beast!
My mate had a XA Falco 4on the floor 250 cubic
I would have loved it to be a manual floor shift! 4 speed cars are excellent
Subscribed 1st time today
Welcome mate, let me know the kind of stuff you’d like to see and I’ll try and incorporate it into some videos
@dank713 look forward to seeing this whole car fully restored
I reckon we can swing that for you 👌
@@dank713 Cool mate 👌 😎 👍 Cheers. Catch you soon on the next video. Look forward to it. Thanks 👍
my uncles one is mint condition
I wish this one was, but I’ve seen far worse.
They are a great looking car when they are shined up and decked out
Think all the old cars over there have them slots on them
Not sure what you mean by slots?
I bet if it holds water and transmission fluid and got a 250 pre crossflow it will shit it in doing 150km , splash petrol in carby pull choke and pump it 5 times start it up , oh shit oil 1st

Looks like 170 or 200 cubic inch. ( 2.78 or 3.27 liter)
It’s supposed to be a factory 250 auto but it won’t really matter, that straight 6 won’t be staying in there.
200 has blue top as I remember, it's a 250
Never seen that model in the United states
Australian special, similar to your Torino or fairlane but available in 2 door and 4 door
what month 72 is it im curious ?
According to the tag it’s a 3rd month 72 car
@@dank713 thanks, ive always wanted one same month and year i was born but that is May 72
My nasty maths teacher had a white one at school in 1974.
Bad person with good taste?
18 year old gas might do it
Given the smell and colour of it I’d dare say it won’t do much of anything except ruin fuel systems and plug filters.
Sub today, thats cool stuff.
Appreciate it mate, they are a cool old car. Hoping it drives as good as it looks
Get a haircut
😂 sure thing
Haircut and job !
