In this video I go through how I change struts and the lower strut bushings on a 2008 Dodge Nitro 4x4. Similar to Jeep Liberty and many other vehicles. #repair #Nitro
Hey a quick tip ... instead of leaving the bolt partially in take it out and feed it in the other side and take a peice of 3/4 plywood and put it between the bolt and other side and tighten the bolt and it will seperate the space making it easier to pull off and put back on the strut.
I just spent the day trying to get the bolt out. Chopped it off. Now bolt is stuck in bushing and one side of the fork. I will deff try drilling it out. I got 6 days before I gotta get to work.
Another EXCELLENT strut video! Could you possibly tell me what model and part number of the LOWER STRUT BUSHING tool is to press in the new bushing? We tried a ball joint tool but it would not "clear" the frame so we could not use it. THANKS!

Watching this I feel like I'm ready to have a heart attack. I have this same vehicle and need this exact work done. God I can only imagine how much this is going to cost me.
Ok I just got struts, shocks and upper arms replaced, on both sides, yet I feel every bump, as I been asking, I been asked if the bold where tighten with vehicle dropped?? Yet every single video, no one is tightening any bolt with rig on ground, 🤔 I know about engine's, but suspension only the basics, so I have a clue if this issue of mine is normal?? By the way, my vehicle lifted by alot, I actually like the lift, also I did the corner bounce test and it feels solid to me, I stood on each corner and it goes down a bit but goes right back up after steeping of, so what is going on with the bump issue?? HELP!!!
I've never had to tighten any bolts specifically with the vehicle on the ground, on any car that I know of. A few other things you might need to look at. Stabilizer Bar Links, those often break or wear out and can bang or rattle just driving let alone when hitting bumps. Since you changed upper control arms did you inspect the lower control arm bushings? Less common but will certainly wear out on some machines. Other things often mistaken for suspension banging could be the motor mounts (and transmission mount). Lastly check your body mounts, I have a video on changing them on Silverado Pickups but the same procedure applies for most cars. Hope this helps...
@@SchnebsGarage yeah I checked it all I do need to replace lower ball joints and inner outer tie rods, but since the comment here I been noticing the hits are getting less and less harder and it's dropping a bit, I think I just have to wait till it settles, but unfortunately I can't find someone to help me with the ball joints and rods, I can do this, can't pay anyone for it was expensive to have shocks and struts replaced, but the issue Houston weather is bad for I have arthritis and my hands with the weather they will hurt me to a point I won't be able to open my hands for weeks
@@analazcano6475 Sorry to hear, I'm all too familiar with arthritis pain. If I was a little closer to Houston I'd help ya out but that's a 1500 mile trip ;). (one way).
EXCELLENT second video I have watched! The first one was the surging gas tank video which helped greatly! Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Super helpful! I'm currently under a Dakota with a seized strut bushing
Good luck!
Great I literally have one of these vehicles to do the same strut on tomorrow at work great help bud
Glad I could help
Imagine doing this with a floor jack and no power tools.
I have, its not fun.

Nice tip.

Thank you
You're welcome

Yea, its one of the more painful procedures, they dont make it an easy fix for sure.
@@SchnebsGarageon the nitro nothing is easy fix. They took a heater core and built an entire vehicle around 👀 it...amazing
