    You have thanked us for the support but I want to thank you Will. Your advice regarding carb loading really helped me in London. I copied and bought a lot of exactly the same food you had in that video.

      Haha nice 👌🏽, hope the food wasn’t getting boring by the end of the load. I found myself getting bored of eating the same stuff and wanted my normal diet back haha but it definitely helped.

    Have binge-watched all of your videos and it motivated me to sign up to Manchester Marathon 2025 (will also be going for sub-3). Thanks for making these videos so good. They make it feel like we're there living it with you aha

    Your videos are probably my favourite of any runner on UA-cam. Love the brutal honesty of your race videos in particular. Look forward to the next training series!

      Thanks mate, appreciate that as I do try to make it as real as it gets. Sometimes I feel down about documenting the failing but it’s part of the journey so it’s important for me to look back on.

      Cheers my friend! I really want my vlogs to show the reality of running for the hobbyist runner like myself and show all the failings , mistakes and the successes I have. It can be quite frustrating for me at times having to do a lot of content of me failing my goals but I do think it’s important when looking back on. 🙏🏽

    You going sub 3hr is a foregone conclusion. You're doing all the little things that most people overlook, which pay HUGE dividends.

    Dispelling those negative late stage experiences is so important! They can really mess with your head. You'll be going into Valencia so much stronger!

      Yea for sure. I think I’ll be much more comfortable thinking about the late stage marathon now I have got my preparation set.

    Great to speak to you during the race, i'd been watching your vids in the run up to Manchester. I was pacing some of my club RoadRunners AC in their sub3 attempt, they got close. Manchester is a great marathon.

    Cant spot any problems at all with your prep and the fitness is clear as day. Just had a bad day at the office I guess, I said before I wanted you to smash your goal more than mine! Nice to see you and fingers crossed on your next venture mate!

      Yup fully agree just a bad day for it with the start. I believe I turned up fit enough but just didn’t align for a good race. Thanks for the comment.

    It's all just experience for the next marathon.
    A 3:01 is a brilliant run.
    When you get your sub 3, and I have no doubt you will, it will give you an unbelievable feeling.
    The "fails" will be just part of the amazing story you will have.

    Great video Will, interesting to take a deep dive into the day and how you felt although it seems like just the pre-race nerves took away the sub-3 - but only just😬I’ve just run Geneva 10K and hoped to PB, didn’t and v disappointed, so much training went into that too🙁

      Ah I bet Geneva is a very nice place. I’ll check it out if you vlogged it. Again thanks for the support on the day it was really nice of you to make that big plan mapping out all the times. Hope to meet you at an event sometime in the future for a good chat.

      @@TheWu Yes, Geneva is a great 10K, I actually went to Annecy on Sunday on the train as my flight wasn’t until 9pm😊You’re welcome on the support, I was just disappointed I didn’t get ahead and see you after 4M, it worked well in ‘23. I’ll be doing a vlog of GVA for sure😊

    Great recap Will , your marathon times are not showing your recent progress yet , running a 3:01 with no cramping etc very good sign for Valencia , roll on the HM pb’s👍

    Try the Coros Pace 3 my friend! I've used garmins for 2 years. Loved them but fancied a change. It's the most comfortable watch I've had and the heart rate tracker is the most reliable experience yet for me.

      I have seen a-lot of people start using Coros. When I decide to upgrade in the future I’ll check them out.

I was thinking about the Debrion race this year too, after seeing your last year's video on it. What's it like for access and parking there ?

      Cheers Matt, sorry I didn’t catch you on the day. Would love to have a good chat together. Derby is actually quite a small event I think only 2k did it last year. So we just use car parks near the centre it’s never that busy tbh. I think because it’s in the middle of the summer heat maybe it puts people off racing it. But I’ve always done well there so I quite like it.

    Stick at it u will do i ran 2hrs 58.28 paced it perfect with a 1hr28.14 first half and a 1hr 28.28 2nd half then the extra 400 metres or so a great relief to get my sub 3 knowing I'll never have to run 1 again if I dont want 2

      Well done that’s what I planned to do with the 1:28 half but had to ease so early as the effort felt too hard. I knew scraping the 1:30 it was never going to happen that day. I’ll keep going for sure 👌🏽

    Have you thought about adding a little more speed in to try and push perceived effort at marathon pace a little lower? Maybe a few 5k races?
    I think a few more shorter races would probably help with the nerves, although I can't really advise you on the YT fame 📹💻

    I might use that carb load strategy of yours but would need to substitute the bread as it doesnt agree with me. In total how many Chews did you take on the course?
    So you've now got all of the different elements of the marathon right. Just need to put them all together in the same race and you'll fly.

      Ah yes I don’t think I ate too much bread , white bread also isn’t my favourite sort of thing. I took 5 chews in total but I don’t think I ever felt low on energy throughout the whole race and I remember thinking to myself in late stage “do I bother taking anymore?” I did just because i planned it but I think the structured carb load was the key.
      Yes one day it will all align and I’ll get it done. Was great meeting you on the day , would love to meet again at some event and have a good chat about running. Maybe even a long run in the summer. A UA-camrs meet !

    Good Update and all the best for upcoming races. How much weight do you lose before/after training plans and do you have an ideal race weight that you stick to?

      I put on a few kg after due to eating poorly and enjoying some junk but it comes off quickly when switching back to eating fairly healthier when training. I think I ran around 62kg for this race and maybe started from 65kg

    Hey the Wu Qhat if yousat a goal that is sub 3.05 then you have 5 minutes to take it easy and you wont burn out in the end Will...........? Inga DK.

    Wish I had this problem of finishing with a 3hr marathon lol! What S&C did you do in prep for this race?

      Haha you will get there! Each week it was 1 session for core work with multiple exercises and then later in the week 1 session for lower body again multiple exercises. I didn't miss any through the 10 weeks except the last taper week.
