    To All you people bitching about the transmission is this car...its a press vehicle, they get what they are sent, most of the time auto journalists don't get a choice in the type of transmissions they get. The point of this video is to give you an idea of how the car sounds on the open road. If you want a manual buy a manual, if you want an auto, buy the auto. Also, you are no less a car enthusiast if you like automatics! That's why they make both.

    • @constructionguru1
      @constructionguru1 9 років тому +10

      You are absolutely correct ! It all comes down to choice and personal preference. An automatic is a better option if you live in a city like New York where even the highways are like ' Parking Lots '

    Owned a Grand National for years. Never heard anyone bitch about it being an automatic. The transmission does not make the car nor the person driving it. Muscle is muscle.

    Why are people complaining if its auto or manual, muscle cars used to be automatic back in their time the Muscle Car Era, the purpose is to enjoy the horsepower of those amazing engines.

      People always find something to complain about, if it isn’t about the engine (V6 or V8), then it’s about how the exhaust sounds, if it’s not about that, then it’s about if you have an automatic or straight drive.. it never ends..

    The 392 was introduced back in 2011. It has a 6.4 Liter instead of the 6.1 on the previous SRT8. In Terms of HP and torque, the 392 has 470 hp, 470 Ib-ft.
    While the previous had 425 hp.
    The 6.1 Liter has stopped since 2010.
    That's everything I know, but go read about it. Internet is full of informations.

    That about as fast to 60 as the old 70 Cuda I had. Bought an original paint orange 70' Cuda w/hockey stick stripe in 85 for $500. It had the original 383 in it that had spun a main bearing and the torque-flite trans was wasted too. The previous owner changed the gears to a 4.10 posi-trac. I then bought 67' Imperial that had a good stock 440 and AT in it for $325. I put the 440 in the Cuda and it worked great. Zero to 60 times were sub 5-seconds with street slicks. With Goodyear p235 60 15's installed zero to 60 was no better 7+seconds because of the horrendous wheel spin. You could literally spin the tires til they popped. Don't think I even had $1500 in it.

    Your forgetting that Dodge is also using steel where as many others are using aluminum. Dodge has also stuck to iron block engines in their mid ranged sports cars where as everyone else is on aluminum alloy, finally the average Dodge are now looking into Buick ride comfort, etc. And Dodge seems more than willing to keep it that way.

    Manual comes in the R/T and SRT packages... I never understood why people buy these "newer" muscle cars these with V6's let alone automatic transmissions..defeats the purpose of the car. You might as well get a Chevy Impala or Hybrid.. ijs

    • @skateredhmg09

      @SharrodCurry 10 років тому

      yeah I agree

    • @SharrodCurry
      @SharrodCurry 10 років тому +1

      I mean technically the price shouldn't be a factor because you can still get a V8 stripped down with cloth seats, no sunroof, no NAV, etc. for under 32K, and For 30K you can get an V6 Chevy Impala LT around the same price new. Soo I think people just buy these newer muscle cars just to save they have one and don't know what they're getting themselves into.

    • @ionengine
      @ionengine 10 років тому

      ***** Go back to the books: $+34K Camaro V8 (1SS) is over $4,000 more than a $30K V8-equipped Challenger (RT). What modern American coupes are you comparing this V8s too? Even the SRT at $40K may be a better deal overall than the $38K 2SS. Though it probably gets down to preferences then, the price/performance/features is fairly matched among competitors at that level.

    • @SharrodCurry
      @SharrodCurry 10 років тому +1

      ionengine well for one thing im not talking about the Camaro, and im not comparing it to any of the modern American coupes. People were saying the reason why they get the V6 Challenger is to save money and I was saying, people can still get an affordable Challenger still with a V8 Hemi stripped down in the low 30K range. I don't know much about the Camaro nor much of a fan of them.

    The Mustang doesn't cruise well because of its suspension. Every bump makes you feel like you're going to spin out, and even riding in a little rain is scary.
    That's what I miss most about my Mustang, actually - that's what made it FUN. Challenger for a smooth drive that -feels- as powerful as a Camaro SS (even if it's technically slower) in a car that looks awesome, Mustang for a pure fun, fast drive.

    That interior was just "OK" in 2008, but its pretty dated now in 2013. Good news is the car is getting a MAJOR refresh in 1 year. 8-speed, all new interior, less weight, more power, updated styling etc.

      +BloodBatteredWings So what's the little to nothing? That's like saying it takes little to nothing to make an sxt just as fast if not faster then the rt. Basically it's not a competition from within the Mopar family my friend. They're all very nice cars respectively in their own category. It's another vision for various types of American muscle cars. I have a 2012 srt with a 6 spd. Good driving car with plenty of power and handles very good concerning the car's weight. The challenger beats the hell out of the mustang which had to many mechanical issues and problems in general. The other big problem is ford does not stand behind the product and dodge gets right to any issue I have ever had. Would I buy another challenger, the answer is yes. It is a great car.

    ANY car can cruise provided the suspension is complient enough. The Every current Cadillac model can cruise with a ride much more compilent the the Challenger and when push comes to shove, can actually Challenge something as well. It's for that reason that Dodge is going to drop it real soon to make way for a car they never truly made.

    The auto allows relaxed shifts. This isn't a track car, hell it's barely a sports car. Its a GT car with a wiff of sportyness to make the casual car buyer feel he owns the streets. The manual helps to give you a more sportscar like control but that's not what this car is about. Its like a diluted C63 Amg. Its not a bad car if you don't want to have to track or race it.

    The base curb weight for the S350 is 4474lbs. Not a hard number to find. Obviously it gets heavier with bigger engines. The S class has an excuse to be heavy being a luxury sedan, this piece of bloated metal does not. And every reviewer who has ever driven it has commented that its way overweight.

      I am so with Jian Angelo Agustin im gearing for the pony car club in 2k14 and out of tons of reviews the challenger (my own personal pref) catches my eye better. its the closest in looks to its older version and the freaking space like yes this is essentially a muscle car who needs space just tear up the roads but with the dodge challenger it kills two birds for me its a sporty aggressive muscle car and has the room for my friends who will beg to ride out the night in the city 2012-dodge challenger-srt8

    Cars with newer and more advanced technology will cost more to fix. If you want to say that's a negative then that's your problem, the rest of us appreciate them leading the way for new technology in cars. There are technologies in Mercedes from the early 2000s that still aren't in most American cars. Yes, they are expensive, for a reason. Fine materials cost more, technological development costs more, and making cars in Germany costs more. Some are willing to pay more for all of that, like me
