I was determined to be a Spring about 40 years ago. It made sense to me, I actually loved and was drawn to the colors of that palette, and it made sense. At almost 62 I don’t worry if I like something that isn’t perfectly flattering, but big ticket items like winter coats that I will wear over and over, I will be quite deliberate. I love everything in the dark teal to aqua, and that is constantly a core color in my wardrobe. I find a way to use it in winter, because it is flattering and makes me happy.

I have been working on changing mine and it definitely has taken time but my vision is starting to happen so it’s exciting. I’m starting to sew for spring and summer, linen tops and pants. It was vicarious fun to see you describe your thinking. So many good pieces to look forward to, and because they'll work with your Greece wardrobe you don't even have to complete everything all at once. The peachy tones remind me of your avocado dye experiments. Maybe there's linkage potential there. I see that frayed trims and ombre tip dyed maxi hems are a thing this year. You could intensify a blue hem with indigo, or a blush hem with avocado? Brainstorming here. When you hold up fabrics here I'm struck by a few things. Deeper blues and teals look fab on you. So does stark white. Onscreen, extreme whites and deeps seem to sing on you. You're also one of those people on whom high contrast pattern (black&white) works really well. (Breton stripe. Tscherassi blue/white dress photo. She's good inspo for beachy chic anyway.) The soft tonal blue-green color harmony outfits in the photos are beautiful but I wonder if a midrange low-saturation colorways wouldn't be a bit bland for your coloring. As a complete outfit, I mean. Speaking as a painter vs. a fashion adviser, which I'm definitely not. Maybe varying textures or contrasting buttons would give a breezy monochrome some muscle. The pecan is beautiful, coordinates with reds and blues, and would make not just bottoms but a terrific underlayer for a black or white shirt worn open. I can easily see the floaty Greek blue-and-white print yardage as a lightweight maxi or one of those Anna Sui patterns. Those Burda 108 shorts/pants are right up your alley. Basics with a twist, and they'd show off your waist. I like the idea of playing up an hourglass silhouette with flare in skirts/pants. Even better, if you mirrored it with some sort of volume at the shoulder. A shoulder pad, a statement shoulder, epaulettes, a bolero? anything that widens the top line. There's a 1930s vintagey quality to that silhouette, which might be fun. Statement sleeves are fading a bit from today's runways but there are still interesting shoulder and sleeve treatments being shown for 2023. It's not too late to do something architectural on the top. One perennial hassle with racer back tops and strappy bodice dresses is underpinnings. If you discover any tricks or patterns that solve it with a built in bra or other good tricks, that would be a goldmine to your viewers. Half the pleasure of a trip is the anticipation. Enjoy your trip and wardrobe preparations!

I really like your idea of putting the patterns you are thinking of using in a basket so that it’s easy to get to them when you find the right fabrics. I find that I waste so much time looking for my patterns when I am ready to cut out my fabric although I would already know what pattern I want to use weeks in advance. Thanks.
Thanks Noeleen! The skirt is really easy, I just cut a large rectangle (you can also do a square) that is double the length I want the skirt to be and then cut a slit at the center. I usually make a mark and then cut out from there to match the waist measurement for the top and then serge or stitch the seams together.

I stopped decluttering when I realised I could keep the pieces made of good materials, and alter them to have something unique and special. My mum sews this "ideas" for me and are the most precious garments of my wardrobe. She used to buy Burda when I was a child. I wish I will have the time to learn how to sew, myself, one day. Thanks so much Geraldine! It does- The mint Ponte is still in stock so I checked the percentages: 65% Viscose, 30% Nylon, 5% Spandex. I think the pecan color has a very similar content. I think I showed the blue version too- that one has a bit less- it’s a heavier weight.
