Strattera is gross, it hurt my gut, sometimes it made me randomly throw up, gave me heartburn and it made me feel like I wasn't myself and I was more aggressive and had suicidal ideation.
Thank you after watching all your videos it's giving me the confidence to face that I have ADHD at the age of 47 I wish I would have faced it in my early twenties I just didn't want to face it. I thought that would make me stupid and this that and the other and I've lost several jobs cuz of stupid mistakes that I made so thank you and I didn't want to stimulant so I'm going to tell my doctor I've already asked for an appointment and they're supposed to set one up so thank you
For me it was the opposite: made my anxiety worse because I could not concentrate anymore on it. I read that for some this gets better after a few weeks. But no one can promise you that. So I had to stop after only a few days because I had trouble sleeping. I was on a very very low dose, because I am very sensitive to meds.
I have started taking Strattera a week ago and Actually the last two days seems like the side effects have been very mild after they were strongly annoying at first , also I heared as your body adapts the side effects gets easier and easier , talk to ur doctor, not ell medicine work the same for everyone, wish you a happy healthy life ❤️
Omw strattera was the worse for me! I turned into a monster and literally had this intense desire to be in a movie like bar fight...I dont drink and have never been to a bar before! I sat for 4 hrs in my car just to keep the rage away from my family!
A PA put me on that when I was trying to get back on meds for grad school. Tried putting me on everything except a stimulant. Gave me a little like happy feeling, but didn’t help. That’s why I’m afraid to go docs. So many appointments and experimenting. They’re so reluctant to prescribe stimulants these days. I get why tho.
Stims get you through college. They don't want the competition. Also, the lawsuits and governmental interference with the manufacturer. They've put a limit (and they won't tell anyone what that limit is) for how much amphetamine salts can be made in a year now, and people on stimulant meds have been complaining for years that their meds seem to not have any meds in them. The Adderall ain't adderalling anymore at 25% strength.
Hmm, from my experience, doctors are prescribing it like it's candy. A friend of mine and a cousin both got prescribed adderall in the past four months after a one hour session where they said they were stressed out and couldn't get motivated. It was that easy. None of them even have a history of inattentiveness in school
Thank you!! I’m going to ask my doctor about this. I never mentioned meds because I don’t want to take aderal. I have back issues and I don’t want to take opiates either and that will make the pain worse.
I’m newly diagnosed and my doctor wants to put me on this first. I already have a lot of issues with fatigue so I’m terrified this is just gonna make it worse.
@@nolaray1062 these are just two opinions, it has helped many others. Give it a try and if it doesn't help you can always quit. Because it's not addictive there is no risk of quitting it at any time
Stratera made me feel like I had the flu (achy, nauseous, cold sweats, malaise) for weeks until I got used to it, then every time I had dosage changes. I also always felt low level depressed, more like my feelings we're suppressed. I couldn't get upset even if I needed to. I stayed the course for a year feeling this way, a soon as I weaned off it these side effects went away.
I'm worried about this. Have already been through antidepressants withdrawal hell . I'm now depressed but can't feel like this every day. Ive no energy and am a single parent. How are you now? I need more energy not less😢
@@Humbledone.I guess it varies. I still feel everything and I’m a little more competitive than before and a bit easier to get annoyed if things don’t go as planned.
The low level depression is exactly what I’ve been experiencing. I’ve been on it for 5 weeks at 40mg per day and honestly it’s had a lot of great benefits for me. Tbh modestly on anxiety. It literally completely wiped out my anxiety but I have definitely noticed the low level depression you mentioned. I always just kinda feel a little “down”
I take Pristiq (desfenlafaxine) here in Australia as I was given that for depression and anxiety all the way back in 2011. Since that is a NSRI (although we know the serotonin theory around meds slowing reuptake is dead) would that be similar to strattera in its action as it impact norepinephrine? I am now on a stimulant as well and that has had a huge impact on reducing my life long anger issues, anxiety and emotional regulation. Thankfully it didn't make my anxiety worse.
@@cheffymama9632 these molecules are very similar and have very similar effects, both oriented towards the body’s “fight or flight response”. My question still applies
@@lurkingforlunkers6785 Well yes and no. Norepinephrine is in the central nervous system and epinephrine is in the peripheral nervous system. Norepinephrine affect the brain and epinephrine affect the body. So although very similar, their effects apply to very different regions and therefore they have a very different activity. Simply put norepinephrine gets you thinking, epinephrine gets you moving. In my case I need stimulants because I have low dopamine but since it also calm my speedy thoughts tornadoes I couldn't possibly fonction with something that speeds up my thinking as it already is a problem. On the other hand, my body is lethargic so I take 16mg of ephedrine (along with 100mg of caffeine to wake up the brain) in the morning to get me going until the stims give me enough dopamine to want to be going. No anxiety (brain) because it affects the body and no racing thoughts because it acts on the peripheral nervous system. Hope this helps.
As someone who’s always had a very strong stress response (most likely cptsd) I can say from my experience Strattera has helped me significantly with that. Idk exactly how that works biologically but it definitely helps

I have an appointment with a psychiatrist in a few days and I have had at least 2 dreams where I took ADHD meds and immediately regretted it as my anxiety skyrocketed. I'm so worried about the side effects, especially of taking the wrong dose, and I also have reservations because of things loved ones have said and I worry sometimes that maybe it's not as bad as I think and I really don't have ADHD and I'm just being lazy or making excuses. But then I think of my lived experience and I know things are really hard for me right now, like I feel like I'm going to need meds to even start putting things together enough to be organized. I hope that maybe one day I could no longer need them because taking a pill daily seems like a bummer 😅 but if it helps and I continue to need it, I don't think I'll be mad. Anyways, I'm definitely going to bring up all these concerns to my doc and maybe even ask about strattera. I feel nervous about that too, though, because when I have tried before to tell doctors about the kind of care I want (unrelated to ADHD as I was just diagnosed this year) I have basically been brushed off because I'm not the one who went to medical school and so I have a hard time standing up for myself because of rsd. I think I can at least kindly bring it up and ask about it and his opinion on if it's a good fit for me. Thank you so much for this because I'm so hesitant to try medication and this sounds like it could work well for me
