Played the game 20 years ago and still listen to the music on a weekly basis. Everything about this game was made to perfection. Awesome story, awesome characters and awesome music. A true masterpiece.

This game might be the only game i'll ever play to be a literal perfect JRPG Graphics: bright and colorful and had Akira Toriyama on board Characters: each were amazing and there wasn't that one bad character you never used, everyone was useful in there own way Story: 10/10 don't wanna spoil anything to those who never played Soundtrack: arguably the best we've seen in a JRPG Combat: simple yet fun and flashy and also didn't require much grinding at all Replayability: this game has I think 13(could be wrong I don't remember) endings and playing with different characters makes it feel entirely different There was no dumb gimmicks or anything it was literal perfection, the only thing that might be a problem is if you don't like JRPGs but otherwise it's perfect
Chrono Trigger is so good, they took themes, character archetypes, and segments of plot from it and unabashedly put it into FF7. Yes, I said it: FF7 ripped off key aspects of CT.
They were in development alongside each other was the actual reality of it. Some things originally planned to be in FF7 went into CT while some originally planned for CT went to FF7. So “ripped off” is not the term id use at all as it’s misinformed. Their development cycles were essentially intertwined. Developers said so themselves. No wonder they both did amazing, T’was Square’s golden age
I personally wouldn't say it's the greatest of all time, but I certainly wouldn't argue with anybody who thought it was, it deserves its merits. It's a masterpiece, should be at least in anyone's top 10.

Played this game a lot when my little sister was born in the 90's. I had gotten my snes and games from my mom's closet not too long before my sister was killed by a drunk driver. Played through after she was gone and it really brought out some strong feelings. To bring back lost loved ones... it's what everybody wants
Amazing game, especially for its time given the limitations of the SNES. But it was ahead of its time with the story, graphics, battle system, music, and large amount of multiple endings which was unheard of. I think a remake should be done in 3D with voice acting cinematic cutscenes.
Definitely, it has EVERYTHING any FF game or rpg has ever had and it was one of the first ever made. To me it's the perfect rpg, its battle system is not that annoying rng based appearance style, it is a bunch of sub genres blended perfectly (sci fi, fantasy, drama, horror, romance, etc), it has amazing visuals for its time, a truly nostalgic and unforgettable soundtrack, a revolutionary unique story and helplessly lovable characters, plus it doesn't leave you wanting for more in the end because the way the story went was just great, and if you do, you just replay it over and over again because it somehow never gets boring. And this comes from a HUGE FF, Golden Sun, Secret Of Mana, et al fan.

I never gotten my hands on one since it never actually came to Europe as far as I'm aware of at least not the snes version I think. But I heard that the ds version is still to this day the superior version to play so i will play trough that^^
its certanly one of the best the small but loveable and well developed cast the stellar sound track the amazing story and the tech system god damn i wish more games would use the tech system its so rewarding using x cut for the first time blew my mind

Its one of the greatest along side FF3,6,7,9 & 10, Dragon Quest, Xenosaga trilogy, Star Ocean & the Tales series. Its really sad Chrono Trigger wasn't turned into a long running series.
I can't decide if ct is my favorite. It's on my list of favorites which I can't decide I like the most (chrono trigger, xenogears, ff7, ff10, lunar, lunar2, ff tactics, ar tonelico 2, legend of dragoon) I also have a feeling tales of vesperia will be joining that list (I didn't have x-box 360 and was poor so finally playing it xD).
You got the Dream Team" of Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of the Final Fantasy series; Yuji Horii creator of the Dragon Quest series; nobuo Uematsu the music composer of Final fantasy and Akira Toriyama creator of Dragon Quest and Dragon Ball. How can't it be?
Chris Sukam Actually Nobuo only did 3-4tracks. Yasunori Mitsuda is the man who made most of the soundtrack and almost died in the process. So please give credit where credit is due.
Yes, Chrono Trigger is the greatest RPG of all time. Fallout 2 also has a special place in my heart. Pretty awesome that you could plant explosives to a timer and assassinate targets in the game.
I personally wouldn't say its MY favourite of all time... but even though that is the case, i would have to say it may be the most influential of all time, the JRPG genre or RPG genre in general wouldn't be what it is without it
I would say that Chrono Trigger is definitely my favorite turn-based RPG of all time, plus my favorite rpg soundtrack. But my all time favorite RPG would probably be an action based one......maybe Diablo or Elder Scrolls, or something....
Yes it's the best RPG ever, and the most beautiful thing is it's soundtrack which is the best in the world and the creator of Dragon Ball Akira Toriyama has animated it and developed the character designs.

+Feldschlacht VI The whole idea is experiencing everything for the first time, being exposed to the plot twists by advancing through the game yourself, because it feels more rewarding. I went through the entire game without a single spoiler, and trust me I don't think it could've been ANY better.

Played it for the first time in 2019, and for a 2D turn-based combat game, the gameplay animation's execution still holds up pretty well.
Akira Toriyama 's art is so distinct I love it.
