It’s not a home run if they catch the ball if it’s over the wall

Triple plays are kinda rare but really exciting! There’s videos on that too.
    Also, Bryce Harper!

At 11:45 Baxter's catch preserved the Mets 1st ever no hitter. He grew up a Mets fan and on that play he broke his shoulder. It was his only game in the majors he ever played.

Just curious Chatwin, my good man. Did you know that the Philadelphia Phillies & the New York Mets will be playing a two game series at Wembley Stadium in May? Have yourself a blast!

Baxter, the one you said was clearly hurt broke his shoulder. Only MLB game he ever played and that catch save the Met's first ever no-hitter in their history. Local boy who was a Mets fan growing up.

It can be boring. But it's always fun at the ballpark. You can chat with your friends. You can walk around the stadium. There are lots of expensive food and drink available. I'm a Seattle Mariners fan. We've never been to the World Series. We have a good team this year. Root for the M's.🎉🎉🎉

8:11. An Outfielder's whole body can be hanging over the wall as he caught the ball, and that would be considered an out "robbing the hitter of a homerun."

Technically can a player be out if the ball is caught anywhere? Like somehow if an outfielder (who starts within the field of play) catches it 5 rows deep would it be an out?

    • @JasonMistretta-wf5ip
      @JasonMistretta-wf5ip Рік тому

@@purestofsoulsNo. Part of the player's body has to be in the field as he catches the ball. IF his momentum of catching the ball "flips him" into the stands that is considered an out. A player can't jump into the stands, run a few rows in, & THEN catch the ball. :o)

Foul balls are out of the field of play outside of the foul poles. Or if the hit the ground outside the baseline. Home run inside. Can be fielded/caught anywhere for an out.

Baseball diamond technically has no outside perimeter, the foul lines are technically infinite, as an example if an outfielder could jump the wall and run up the stairs and make the catch before the ball hits the structure it would be an out. The ball is considered “in the air “ until it strikes something considered “structural” that word structure applies to the fans in the stadium. As a result if a fan reaches for the ball and interrupts the continuous motion of the ball or player it’s called “fan interference“ and out is awarded. As a result a hit fly ball can skip off two players a base runner and an umpire and still be caught in the air and be counted as a fly ball out since all players legally on field and all umpires are considered to be “play through” and not an obstacle. Should a hit ball strike a base or the mound that ball is considered to a “fair ball” although no longer a fly ball and is played as a ground ball regardless of its path and the batter remains live until safely reaching base or being tagged out in normal play

8:02 it would still be an out, considered a home run robbery

1:20 "Is that legal??" Oh yes, very much so. As long as the ball never touches the ground, any number of players can "volleyball" the baseball until it's caught and it's still an out.
7:50 If the ball isn't caught and it drops out of play, it's a home run. If the ball is caught by the outfielder, the batter is out, it's one of those Gold Glove type plays and it usually doesn't matter where the ball was when caught. I think if the ball is tipped back into the field of play, it's a ground rule double...? Someone check me on that last one. Trying to catch a ball that is on the other side of the wall could result in an injury, I've seen players climbing the wall to try to make that kind of play, and it's generally discouraged.
9:42 I know that voice anywhere, that's Vin Scully, legendary broadcaster for the LA Dodgers until he retired in... 2014? 2017?
10:10 Sometimes a baserunner and even the 3rd base coach will misread an outfielder, and clearly that outfielder, while he took his sweet time getting to the ball, has quite the throwing arm. That's how you turn an extra-base hit into an out.

I was a 1st baseman. They rarely get much recognition but it's hard to keep your foot on the base while catching wild throws.

You see some of these throws being made in the game clips and think you could do it in that situation maybe and then you pick up a baseball and throw it around with someone and realize there’s no way.

Playing outfield I would spit in my glove and kind of rub it around for some extra grip cause when you dive for a ball and catch it, it can easily pop out when the glove hits the ground with force and with hitting the fence 6:01
