A quarterback has to be very intelligent as well as skilled He has to instantaneously evaluate several potential targets, while evading being sacked, then after choosing his Target, estimate where that Target will be in the 3 seconds it's going to take the ball to get there, Ben also be skilled enough to put the ball in the position and needs to be. And some quarterbacks can do this in 2 seconds.... That's a lot of brain power. So you have to have a special combination of brain power and athleticism Since black men between the ages of 15 and 34 only make up 3% of the United States population, you have a very small pool for that special combination to happen in. So this is the first time, there have been two black quarterbacks, as there have only been a handful of black quarterbacks in the history of NFL Although it's growing far more common When I was growing up I only remember Warren Moon
@Chatwin Reacts the kelce Brothers are probably the best 2 in the league at their respective positions. Travis is probably the best tight end ever. And Jason definitely in the conversation for best center ever at least up there with Jeff saturday
One thing you need to always remember about the Chiefs is they are the comeback kings. They own the second half of football. Never count them out in the second half because they will come back to bite you in the ass.
Mahomes is the best quarterback. He can scramble, throw from any angle, and has great football iq. He didn’t scramble much in the Super Bowl because he had an ankle sprain.
Greg Olsen didn't know what to look for either. The hold wasn't Bradberry's left hand. It was his right hand right at the start, if not before the start, of the replay. That angle doesn't do a good job of showing it because Bradberry's body blocks the camera view. There is another angle from the sideline camera that shows the hold more clearly. He grabs the jersey with his right hand right when JuJu tries to come out of the first break. It wasn't ultrablatant but it was enough to disrupt the timing on the play by about half a second. It was also enough to keep JuJu from getting about two steps behind Bradberry on the route.
at 11:19 they didn't show all of the review footage that showed the receiver did not have full control of the ball going out of bounds, at least that's what I remember when watching the full game. at 20:30 there was more to that hold than what they showed. There were clips of the more obvious hold and the reason it was called, also the defensive player that committed the hold admitted that he did it and was hoping that he wouldn't get called for it. If you're interested in some channels that do game breakdowns, here are a few that I've checked out: QB School - longer breakdowns and QB oriented - this guy is my favorite to watch Kurt Warner xQBConfidential - QB oriented again, but not quite as long of videos Jackson Krueger Sports - more play focused instead of player focused and much shorter videos
Mahomes already hurt his legs in the divisional round of the playoffs. He had a high ankle sprain and played through it for three games and led his team to a win all three times.
Thx for your more than objective view of this game, as a life-long Chiefs fan I was hanging on by the skin of my teeth and when Pat got hurt my heart sank, but like a Phoenix he rose from the ashes…hahaha…peace go Chiefs
What makes Mahomes so unique is that he incorporates the baseball player in him. He doesn't really throw the ball, he pitches it I think the Shortstop in him that contributes to his agility and mobility.
9:30 the penalty is 5 yards. However... because that is more than halfway to the goal line, they only get "half the distance to the goal". You can't score by penalty in the NFL. As that distance was still greater than the 2 yards needed for a first down, the Eagles were awarded 1st down.
Just so you know on that last play the holding happened before you saw that on the screen were he held his jersey and impeded his route which is what led to the hold
4:41 - the reason you see QB's throw the ball away if they're backpedaling or losing ground is because if they're sacked by the defense or forced out of bounds with the ball then the team loses that yardage. If he throws it away, they don't lose any yardage.
You seem to understand American football pretty well. I have been a Kansas City Chiefs fan for 60 of my 66 years. I am a Kansas City gal thru and thru. Patrick Mahomes is THE premiere quarterback in the entire NFL and he is young so he has a lot of years yet to dazzle and delight. If you can ever come and watch any NFL game in person I can suggest to you Arrowhead stadium, the loudest stadium in the NFL and that is a proven fact! It gives the Chiefs the homefield advantage whenever they play there.
What's different about Mahomes is he (mechanically ) can do what other QBs are taught not to do . Mainly throw off platform. QBs are taught specific foot and throwing motions (mechanics) for accuracy and strength. Feet are to always be shoulder with apart even while shuffling about . To stay square to & then step towards target while throwing . And keep a tight, quick throwing motion which gives defenders less time to react. This is a basic overview its really more specific.
He also has a strong enough arm to get away with throwing the ball across his body towards the middle of the field late. That is an automatic interception for most quarterbacks but most quarterbacks don't have his arm strength and most quarterbacks don't have his baseball background which is why he can away with it. It feels perfectly natural to him to throw a football the way a shortstop throws a baseball.
19:11 you’re wrong… because even if you miss the two points it doesn’t matter. You would still need a field goal to win the win and it would only make a difference of losing by 3 or win by 1
i know its been some time since this post, but youre picking up the game quick! idk how long youve been a fan but its always good to see pick up football and all the intricacies of the game. fun to rewatch the game too!
That kick after the “easy touchdown” is called an EXTRA POINT, not a field goal. After a touchdown a team can either kick an extra point or run/pass it in for two extra points.
all 3 of the niners' QB's were injured by halftime of the Eagles game. dont know if you wondered why, but the niners didn't throw a pass in the second half, because their least injured QB played that game with a broken arm, his throwing arm. pretty easy for the Eagles to stack the box with 10 defenders and finish that game with no worries.
Mahomes' ankle was injured in the first half of the divisional playoff against the Jaguars. It was still bad in the AFC championship game, which you saw. The second best quarterback in the league is Patrick Mahomes on one leg.
In these days, professional athletes of all sports are very big and strong. They are strong and blazingly fast. Offensive lineman weigh 340 pounds and can run. Imagine that running in to you. Another linebacker you show watch is Lawrence Taylor. He was a beast! If you like hiiting, he is your man!!!!!
I'd recommend checking out compilations on Barry Sanders, his fifty best, and Mike Alstott. 2 completely different styles of running the ball, 2 amazing athletes.
If the ball hits the uprights and goes inside, the kick counts. If it hits the uprights and falls outside, it does not count. #Chiefs #ChiefsKingdom This was also the first Super Bowl that brothers played against each other. #TravisKelce87 Tight End #Chiefs and #JasonKelce62 Center #Eagles And, they have a podcast that also shows on UA-cam called New Heights. The holding penalty with :54 left, he had a handful of his jersey. There is a still shot out there showing he wasn’t just touching his back.
The unwritten rule is always take the points, always! Speaking of Old School, may I suggest you locate and watch Dick Butkus a middle linebacker. Butkus made it in to the NFL Hall of Fame. He was a brutal football player. He was out there to put the smack-down on the ball carrier. And he was damn good at it! I heard another player state that he was afraid of Butkus and they were on the same team. Check him out, you will not be sorry!!! Often when the ball is that close to the endzone, the penalty is half of the distance, instead of 5 yards. May I suggest you locate and watch a wide receiver by the name of Randy Moss. Moss was fast to be big, a great jumper, with great hands, good vision. He often made one-handed catches. I think his play will impress you. He ended up in the Hall of Fame. His skill level was notable.....
As an Eagles fan, I was absolutely losing my mind at our defensive coordinator for giving up a touchdown on the same damn play 3 times in a game. Pathetic adjustments all game. Hurts was the only reason we were in it at all.
This hurts so much to watch because as a diehard Eagles fan, I wanted to see this win so bad, and Hurts BALLED OUT in this game. It’s a shame they lost but just keep moving forward!
It's the Kansas CITY Chiefs, not Kansas Chiefs. And now to make it even More confusing! While it's true that part of Kansas City is in the state of Kansas, most of it (including the part that has the Chiefs) is actually in Missouri. So... Kansas City is a Missouri team, not a Kansas team.
one more thing...Mahomes' team wins about 58% of the games in which they are down by 10 at any point in the game (14-10). Mahomes total W/L record is 64-16, .800. The ridiculousness of that stat is hard to comprehend. Tom Brady won about 39% of those games, and he is arguably the GOAT. If you are going to root for the Jaguars, go back and watch the Jags/Chiefs playoff game from this year in which Mahomes was injured in the first quarter. He had a serious high ankle sprain, and was LIVID on the sidelines because his coach shut him down, told him the only way he was going back in the game is if he got an X-ray that showed his leg wasn't broken.
“That seems a little harsh” in regards to the game clinching holding call. You’re correct. It WAS holding, but is what’s called a ticky tack call. Or a soft call. Defensive backs and receivers test the waters as soon as the game starts to see how the refs are calling the game and no physical they’re letting them be. So for the refs to let the boys play all game until THEN? Kinda trash. But Bradberry himself said it was technically holding, and real eagles fans know we never should’ve let it come down to that. But yeah that call was suspect. It’s one of the nuances of football.
9:31 Offsides is a 5 yard penalty. So when the Chiefs defense moved before the snap, the Eagles automatically got 5 yards and a first down. Often in crucial 4th and short situations, a Quarterback will delay the snap for a couple seconds to try to confuse the defense into a penalty
The goal post is out of bounds. They can catch anything short and run it back. But the goal post is out of bounds so it’s a dead ball if it hits the post at all
Don't discount the 9ers. They were playing with an amazing 3rd string QB that got injured early in the game and a 4th string QB who then got injured, and the 3rd stringer came back in even though he could not throw.
19:02 - Just fyi, when a team kicks after a TD it's an extra point, not a field goal. A field goal is 3 points, and teams only kick a field goal when they get close to a TD but are not able to score. The Eagles made the right call. Because even if they don't get the 2 points, the score would remain 35-33 and they'd still be able to win with a field goal if they get the ball back and got deep into Chiefs territory. With less than 6 minutes left it made perfect sense to go for 2.
If I had to reccomend a team to you, I'd recommend my one and only Falcons, we don't make playoffs alot or anything, but we have a (mostly) good fan base
yo ive been watching football since 2004 and for w.e reason i never either realized or heard about 2 black qbs never facing eachother lol that is crazy to hear tho
19:02 The Eagles loose nothing by going for 2. Whether they kick for 1 or miss on the 2 point conversation they would still need a 3 point FG . But by making the 2 points they tie the gsme up with only 5:15 left in the game.
19:04. Going for 2 points here was necessary. With only 5 minutes left on the clock, there was a chance Kansas City could have simply ran the clock out and won the game with a 1-point lead. All it would take would be a few first downs and the Chiefs could easily run the 5 minutes off the clock for the win. Philadelphia had to tie the game to prevent them from doing that.
Mahomes is the best. And I bet someone said it already but an incroachment call is 5 yards.. unless it is within 5 yard line.. and in that case (which is what we just saw) half the distance to the goal line. If going “half the distance (like in this case) it puts you past the 10 yards needs for the first down the the team gets a first down.. 9:42
My favorite team is the Chiefs because of Andy Reid (the coach). Ironically, he used to be the coach for the Eagles and they fired him. Since he's come to Kansas City they have improved dramatically. Another reason I like the Chiefs is they play as a team. Most teams have one or two main receivers, but Mahomes will throw to anyone. You should watch Mahomes compilations. He's amazing to watch.
the philly eagles fans cheered when the niners (the team they played to get to the super bowl) qb got injured, eagles and all of philadelphia’s sports teams are known for being the worst humans in all of sports, when you think of stereotypical classless american, you think of a philadelphia eagle fan
I'm sure someone has told you but, in case not: In offense of the Eagles if you look for #62 that is the Center. His name is Jason Kelce. If you look for #87 on offense on the Chiefs that is Travis Kelce. Brothers. First time brothers are playing Super Bowl against each other. Mom has a split jacket. On side Eagles and One side Chiefs. Also, about 6 months or so after the Super Bowl the younger brother, Travis, began dating Taylor Swift the pop star. Jason is married with 3 adorable girls.
BTW, I live in Illinois but, grew up in Kansas City. Grew up with the Chiefs and even though I live close to Chicago I don't like the Bears (my husband loves them). I've always been KC. Chiefs and Royals in baseball.
With Madden PLAY THE MINI GAMES!!!!! It will teach you how to properly use each position offense and defense and special team which get overlooked a lot but in NFL a good special teams can be the difference between good and great teams
Mahomes received a high-ankle sprain in the game against the Jags on Jan 21st. It's an injury that takes 5-6 weeks to heal. SB played 3 weeks later on Feb 12th so there were lots of times when he was literally jumping on his good leg. Don't believe for a moment that he wasn't in pain and he pushed himself through it. No drugs, either. As for the "holding"....I'll say to you what I said to the crying Eagles fans...a penalty is a penalty and it doesn't matter if it happens 2 minutes into the game or with 2 minutes left. If you're not going to call penalties after the 2 minute warning, how many players do you think will get injured because there will be nothing to stop players from going after their opponents. The player who was called admitted it was a penalty and said he was hoping they wouldn't catch it. And still, so much whining. Also, keep in mind that the Chiefs '22 season was with a bunch of rookies, as well as a defense that just can't seem to play in the top 10. And still, he wills them to win nearly every game they played. Don't assume the playing field is even just because they're playing in the SB. BTW, the Eagles played a decimated 49rs team in their championship game...literally ran out of QBs, so it wasn't a difficult win. Maybe take a look at that.
One thing that pushed everyone off was how slow they were taking the field goal I think he wasted like 3:00 minutes of the 4th quarter to secure that feild goal
If you’re talking about the game winning field goal, the penalty occurred with 1:48 left on the clock. And the Eagles were either out of timeouts or only had one left. Most would call what happened after good clock management. Any coach with half a brain would do the same thing.
If you're a Jags fan then you're in luck. After years of losing, the Jags finally have a good team with a great young QB. Plus they play in a very weak division, which means a lot of easy opponents on their schedule
The Kelce brothers started a podcast during the season, they call their viewers the '92 percenters' because Jalen Hurts converts 92% of his quarterback sneak plays for a first down. The brother's have a friendly joke between them: Travis thinks the play should not be legal, but Jason is the center on this play and is a big reason the play is so successful. Jalen Hurts famously can squat 700 pounds in the weight room, which is a lot for a quarterback, and the Eagles usually line up at least two guys behind him to push him forward on sneaks. Not sneaky at all. Some of the teams tried to outlaw the ability of teams to push the ball carrier from behind like in Rugby, but the NFL rules committee upheld this play and will not ban it unless players start dying on the field.
I am a former football player and have worked out a bit in my day. Had to look this up, he officially has a 570 pound squat and a video of 600 pounds. That is a LONG way from 700 but still very strong.
Please do an actual 49ers highlights video like with all the other teams. You should support the Jags. They're the ones that the NFL is trying to give the UK anyway lol it'll be perfect.
Until just now i didn't notice my face cam disappeared, so for half the video is just my voice. I could re do the video but then then it would be a fake reaction, so apologies but we will get better at this technical stuff as we grow!!

That makes sense thanks for the explanation
9:30 The Chiefs defense was penalized 5 yards. So since it was 4th and 2, the 5 yard penalty gave the Eagles the 1st down
keep an eye on hurts.. dudes a beast 🔥
You need to check out Michael Vick highlight, you will love it.
This was the first superbowl where I was kinda hoping both teams would lose.
😢
@@Pickendi ^prolly one of the fatherless children i mentioned
@@bc5852 no way you're calling philly fans toxic yet you prob just called a 9-10 year old fatherless
But you're right a lot of philly fans suck tbh but not every single one
@@citronblue0 if he’s 9-10 then he shouldn’t be talking shit to people in the internet, anyways i’m glad we can both agree that philly fans suck
If you enjoy watching QB's running, you might enjoy Justin Fields (Bears) or Lamar Jackson (Ravens)
He grabbed him out of the break. You could call it ticky tac but it's by the book holding
You know, if you really want to watch a Superbowl, I would recommend Superbowl 43. Definitely one of the most intense in recent years.
Mahomes won the MVP. His stats were better. Hurts was the runner-up.
5:53 You are right. If the field goal misses and somehow a player caught it they could run it back for a touchdown.
But, the goal posts are out of bounds, so if it hits the goal post, the play is over.
@@rhoetusochten4211 ah yep thanks for the correction. I guess then you could only run it back if the kick was short
@@josh9673 my favorite is the call by Gus Johnson when Jamal Agnew ran it back 109 yards a couple years ago.
“Agnew. Agnew! AGNEW!!!!” LOL
Thank you for your post
5:45 the goal post is mounted in the ground out of bounds, so if they was to catch it the referee would blow it dead.
If we were going to lose, I'm glad it was to Andy and Travis.
At the end of the Game you are going to have a renewed respect for Patrick Mahomes !!!!
Go Chiefs Andy Reid is my guy
Never bet against the Chiefs
I love Mahomes but he's half black and half white
There is talks of making the "scrum" qb sneak illegal next year. Horrible but true. Eagles are the only ones who qb sneak this way.
Never bet against Mahomes and the Chiefs
They're going to do it again Monday night.🤩
Mahomes isn't black, he's Mulato. His mother is white.
Seattle Seahawks could be your team! They are good now but not favorites with a good history. Check out ‘Legion of Boom’ videos.
whats your other channel name?
@chatwinrecords
Mahomes is the best QB ever to be honest.
Tom Brady's better but pat is prob 2nd or 3rd
Oh i will! I’ll make sure to do every team still only fair lol
It was always the jags.
You should’ve watched the whole game.
You simply cannot stop the Eagles getting 1-2 yards on a QB sneak. If a first down was 6 yards theyd just do it all day.
That’s not a quarterback sneak it’s a rugby scrum. Big difference.
