@@SilverMe2004 The "person walking" you speak of, wearing a high-vis vest & is pushing a motorcycle with a bright yellow L plate & orange wheels, was visible a few car lengths prior. I always think that among Australian drivers P-platers are among the most dangerous (perhaps only second to Sydney taxi drivers.) When a driver has an "L" plate they know they are a beginner and will be just trying to do their best. With a "P" plate the driver has learned to operate the vehicle but has very little experience or situational awareness which creates over-confidence.
I live in a country area. The amount of dumb old people that come here and forget where the accelerator is, is mind blowing. I have often used the nature strip as an overtaking lane because I value getting to my next job the same day.
Way to stereotype an entire group over a bad minority. I've seen green p plates on semitrailers, I dont suppose those truck drivers could afford to drive like that?
You're almost correct, let me explain to you where you're wrong though. As a baseline, no one who passes the p plate driving exam in Australia is necessarily fit to drive a car. Some have definitely been taught the right thing and are passionate about driving so they care to learn how. The problem is that the driving test is so easy that being proficient is not at all a prerequisite for passing, and as a result plenty of people who are unfit to drive have licenses. With this understanding we now know that it's possible for anyone on the road unsafe. Where P platers become notable in this is not only are they not necessarily skilled (just like everyone else), they also lack experience (unlike everyone else). P platers are the group where "not necessarily safe" and "inexperienced" cross over on the venn diagram if that makes sense. Senior drivers are also dangerous but because they cross over with a different cross section which we can call "senile", being both not necessarily experienced and senile. Fixing the roads must start with an overhaul to our attitude about licenses. Not everyone should have a license. Driving cannot work if we attempt to dumb it down so the lowest possible denominator can participate. It's unfortunate but the the alternative means lives will be at risk and that will always be worse. Lowering speed limits and increasing speed enforcement has never and will never work because speed was never the problem. The problem is people who suck at driving. Look at Germany, they have fewer road deaths per capita on their autobahns which feature completely derestricted zones. You can look up on UA-cam of people going 370km/h+ on them. And yet somehow by every measurable metric our 100km/h highways are more deadly. You know why? Because the German driving test is actually designed to test your ability rather than a bureaucratic façade just to keep appearances up. In Germany you can be put on something colloquially known as the "idiot list" if you fail too many times. And why on earth is it illegal to speed, presumably because its dangerous, yet you receive no repercussions from the law for actually causing an accident? Why is it worse to have done something that might cause an accident than cause the actual accident? TL;DR Australians are incredibly uneducated and unsafe drivers and the whole nation has no idea what kind of legislation creates safer roads

@@Randomgold88 true, but the motorcyclist was cursing the UTE (as we all were) for "turning aound on the corner".
@@Randomgold88 I agree he should have been parked further back instead of right in front of the fallen tree, a truck coming around a blind corner like that would not have been able to stop, he needed to be in front of the blind corner even have those hazard triangles that trucks apparently have, to alert people that he's blocking the road cause of a hazard.
Rider should've gotten off to help move the tree... do a public service to prevent the next guy hitting the tree and losing his head, its not hard
@@lachlan7181 Perhaps he should have, but we don't get to see the size of the tree/branch that came down, two people might not have been able to move it, and the might not have been space to move it to and may have to be chopped up to clear the road instead of being dragged off the road.
If anything, the Ute needed to be in front of the blind corner with his hazard lights on, especially far enough back that a truck would see his hazard lights and know to prepare to stop, if one came around the corner. As where the Ute was, a truck would have no stopping room and would crash into the Ute and the tree/branch.

As a p plater myself I try not to act like that
I live in a country area. The amount of dumb old people that come here and forget where the accelerator is, is mind blowing. I have often used the nature strip as an overtaking lane because I value getting to my next job the same day.
I do love it when P platers get pulled over by the cops and lose the license.
