Used to live near 24:10, it's frightening how many people fly through this red pedestrian light - it's a death waiting to happen. When traffic banks up it was common to see 2-3 cars follow through a red just because the queue ahead was moving.

Dash Cam happens because of drug addicts. I'm not saying offenders are high in this footage. I'm saying drugs permanently rewire their brains to make them utter psychopaths. This is because a drug addict cannot care who they hurt, in order to get high again. The consequential affect is they don't care who they hurt on the road as well. That last clip 24:53 is a perfect example.
9:00 is interesting. The Merc is in the wrong 100%, but it was also super obvious that they were going to push in. Cammer accelerated to attempt to "call the bluff" of the Merc. Again: cammer has the law on their side but could have easily avoided the PITA of having to make an insurance claim by backing off. After living in Canberra and being rear-ended twice in 12 months... I no longer think "being in the right" is worth the bullshit of an insurance claim. That said: My Airtrek Turbo is insured for $9500 and can be sold for approximately zero, so I would welcome being written off any day... it's hard to know the optimal action!
When it comes to push and shove I wouldn't expect any insurance company to fully pay out if it's obvious you could have avoided the accident, regardless of who had priority.
Thank you to all the drivers who didn't avoid an accident and took one for the team, you've made the earth a better place to live. Maybe those in the wrong that hit you will think twice about trying that manoeuvre again.
Context to the fist clip. The road is called the Peninsula Link where you can often find a cohort of people who travel to and from Karen Town playing "hogs of the road" which often infuriates the other cohort of the region being the Utilitarian's which results in the display seen in the video. The problems are that this road has a distance speed camera system that regulates people passing to only slightly above others speeds, and it also lacks the "Keep left unless overtaking" signs that are common on older sections of the same freeway that the distance cams do not operate on. As a regular user of the road servicing customers in that region I often observe the rage displayed in this video that I would in any other case not condone, however, in the case of this section of road my feelings are quite the opposite. And do I trust that dash camers who have their GPS speed display turned off have not done some selectively questionable editing, no, not one bit.
While I understand. It’s still a absolutely no excuse to risk the lives of the person they’re aggrieved with and innocent bystanders in the left lane. Love is always going to have people holding you up. It’s a guaranteed certainty. So why act like it’s someone shot your best mate in the knackers?
Some dashcams require a separate bit of hardware at extra cost to get the GPS position and speed info, that's why a lot of videos don't have that information displayed.
It amazes me how many douche bags will speed up just not to allow someone to over take them, so many accident could be avoided if people would drop the ego.

21:17 I was sure that driver was going to turn into the Discount Spares place 😂Nope. And 25:00 DC's gonna give himself a heart attack or a stroke. As an earlier episode offender said 'I got my indicator on bro, relax, chill out.'
I can relate to 25:00 though. Who are these people who think they can stop on a busy road and wait to cross traffic to make an exit. My old man always says, ‘bad drivers never miss an exit.’
I drive around Melbourne a lot for work and sadly, this kind of thing is pretty much everywhere, pretty much all the time. Bad driving has always been a thing, but it really seems to have gotten dramatically worse in the last decade. I believe it's a combination of things- more vehicles, more inexperienced and incompetent drivers, more people with no patience. I really have to wonder sometimes at how some people get their licenses. One potential theory is that many drivers come from certain countries overseas, where the licencing process is likely a lot less strict than in Australia. I may be wrong, but to my knowledge all you have to do is prove that you're a licenced driver in your home country, and without much effort you can drive on Australian roads. (When I spent some time in the US in the late 1990's, from memory it was legal to use my regular Australian license, even though Americans drive on the opposite side of the car, and the road! It certainly took some getting used to.)
Also most cars were a few years back for the most part manual so it’s more technical driving there more critical thinking applies there to control car. If you want to have automatic cars license you can but you won’t be allowed to drive manual but automatic cars wasn’t so much a thing predominantly. Now you can have a lot more automatic cars so it’s easier to get around but if friends and family want that driver to drive manual then you’re not allowed. But if you pass normal manual cars test then you’re allowed ro drive automatic, no issues
@The Aussie Family It sounds like your boy has got the right idea, and good support. I must admit that I see awful driving by people of all ages, but with a lot of younger drivers it's mainly inexperience. Anyway, all the best!
@9:48 i know how he feels. His conscious mind knows i can just ram this f... and ruin his day but the unconscious reflex part of your mind brakes before you get the chance 🤣🤣🤣

@@lesstockley4937I'm having trouble finding any relevant legislation about that, and I'd be interested to read it if you know where I might find it, but I was commenting out of common sense. More to the point, there's no way for the Dashie to indicate what they were about to do, given that they should have been indicating left to exit the roundabout already.
@@Novur if they were indicating left there, that would mean they were going straight and not turning right. The reason the ute went was because the DC were indicating a right turn. The same scenario was posted by our states transport dept a while ago, the red car is in the position of the ute, the blue car is the DC: ANSWER: Yes, the red car needs to give way. you must give way to ALL traffic that is already within the roundabout and can only enter the roundabout when there is a safe and adequate gap in traffic. Giving way means to stop or slow down to avoid a collision. In this particular scenario, the blue car can also enter either lane, as there are no gore markings or marked lines or arrows to indicate a particular path. It’s worth noting that this is a single lane road that turns into a multi-lane road, so the scenario is a little different from the rules of a multi-lane roundabout.

More then one occasion I would watch 2-3 cars follow each other through the same red light. As a passenger I had multiple uber drivers go straight through it. Frankly it's a death waiting to happen. The intersection ahead catches drivers attention, so when it goes green and the queue of cars start moving they just following not realising this pedestrian is red.

Used to live near 24:10, it's frightening how many people fly through this red pedestrian light - it's a death waiting to happen. It might be summer, but there's a lot of ice on the road.

More to the point, there's no way for the Dashie to indicate what they were about to do, given that they should have been indicating left to exit the roundabout already.
@@Novur if they were indicating left there, that would mean they were going straight and not turning right. The reason the ute went was because the DC were indicating a right turn. The same scenario was posted by our states transport dept a while ago, the red car is in the position of the ute, the blue car is the DC:
ANSWER: Yes, the red car needs to give way. you must give way to ALL traffic that is already within the roundabout and can only enter the roundabout when there is a safe and adequate gap in traffic.

@@petercarroll5874 Makes you think why DC driver didn't provide more dashcam captured footage of the entire incident from the moment it started, but only a short clip of what the other driver did to make them the instigator. My guess is that the DC driver was hogging the right lane and pissed off the ute driver. Every action has a reaction.
12:37 how the hell did that SUV on the wrong side of the road have the audacity to honk back..?
why did 24:12 literally send in himself running a red?
It was undoubtedly a wake up call for himself, so he probably thought he’d share it as a wake-up call for others.
I thought it was pretty good of them to send it in actually. Who knows what they were looking at because it was bleeding obvious, but still... props too them.
I used to live near here and witnessed dozens of cars going straight through this pedestrian crossing. Glad they sent it in its a death waiting to happen.
Think the problem is two fold:
1. The overpass obscures the lights when approaching (the DC is sitting lower than a persons vision)
2. The intersection ahead catches drivers attention, so when it goes green and the queue of cars start moving they just following not realising this pedestrian is red (I've watched 2-3 cars follow each other through oblivious to it)
I once sent a video of me slightly slipping out in the wet in an old ute. My reasoning was because you usually see it on here from behind and it always looks intentional. Mine had audio of me going "shit! shit! shit!" Or something similar. It showed it happening at a low speed and being obviously not intentional. Thought it might be good for people unfamiliar with utes to know how easy it can be and that it's not always intended
what am I (not) seeing at 24:42???
goofy driving
That one at the end was still so much more restrained than I would have been in that situation
What's happening at 24:42?
11:40 classic example of being distracted by a device while driving.
24:42 what did I miss
Came here for this comment???
Looks like the black car and a red car in front of it both tried to overtake the caravan at once. Honestly not even anything worth sending in dashcam footage of.
Came here looking for an answer to exactly this after watching over and over about half a dozen times 😂
8:35 Another plank in a tradie vehicle that doesn't understand asymmetrical roundabouts. You can point at that line all you want, buddy, but it won't magically create a line at 8:30 where it counts.
