- Following the old train bed from the Merriton Tunnel (Blue Ghost Tunnel) up to the existing rail line in Thorold ON. The bugs were ferocious near the mouth of the tunnel so I quickly followed the old train bed out of there.

Just got off 15 Mile Creek, by the tunnel under the same rail line, watched 3 beaver do laps in front of their lodge!
I know about 15 mile pond but where is 15 mile creek ?
@@photoghiking Gregory Rd, South to where it dips down to Glass Ave, there is a parking lot by the bridge, kayak dock and picnic table. I have a second kayak, and I would be happy to take you out for a tour, for a change! No bugs last night!
Is there a tunnel there or just the old bridge on 15 mile pond ?
@@photoghiking Same design as the Ghost Tunnel, I walked the ice this winter, even less bugs, and took the official tape measure. It is 160 ft x 20 ft wide x 18 ft high. The oak spreader beams were visible thru the ice, 160 plus years old! Every creek that runs under this rail line has a stone tunnel! They are everywhere!
I'm shocked there's still some remnants of the railway after being abandoned since the 1930s.
Some remnants but not much to see unless you're looking for it. Thanks for watching.
Nicely done! Thanks for braving the bugs and making this video! Do you have any idea when the bugs go away? October?
Thank you. I would think the bugs will depend on the weather. If it's dry this summer maybe by late July that area will be free of bugs. That end of the tunnel is always flooded even through the fall.
@@photoghiking I've found another tunnel/culvert at Tiffany Falls in Ancaster. It's not as big as this but it's still a beauty.
Hi. Thanks for the message. I wasn't aware of a tunnel/culvert at Tiffany. Where is that ? Where is goes under the road ?
@@photoghiking Yes it goes under the road at the parking lot. There are helpful images on historic bridges dot org (I can't send links in this chat). There is also a brief video of it on a youtube channel called Freaktographys Abandoned Exploring. The video is called Tiffany Falls Waterfall and it's at the seven minute mark.
Interesting. The next time I'm in the area I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the information.
Did you catch the Ring of Fire this morning?
It was amazing!
This tunnel was a clear cut then the 3rd canal was constructed on top.
Yes, I believe you are correct. I have seen a picture of the tunnel being constructed on level ground with workmen hoisting stones in from above.
Did you see the eagles????
I did not see them. Where are they ?
