    That is the old canal system. My old man was a diver for the Seaway until the accident in 1990. He and I use to walk the old waterways and he would tell me all about it. If I remember, there might still be a few remnants of the original seaway hidden in the bush.

      That’s some great memories with your pops. Very heartwarming listening to the history of the place from someone who used the canal system. Very cool

      @@ObscuristTourist if your ever looking for more ghost encounters in the Niagara region. There's the Captain at the Angel Inn, there is a pair of ghosts at the Oban Inn that were spotted after the fire, I saw an old lady (partial apparition) on the second floor of the original part of the Prince of Wales hotel when I was a bellhop their, noises from 1812 at night at Butlers Burial grounds, the Screaming Tunnel, various houses along the Parkway have stoned lined tunnels that lead to the river for water and many were used during the underground railroad to Canada.

    I heard it was a train accident that happened a few yards away from the entrance. One of the passengers on the train died, & who brought his dog who also died. I've been there at night during the winter a few years ago. All the pictures I took there, 3 of the pics I discovered ,when I finally arrived home) have blue floating Orbs

    Was a cool place to ski through before being boarded up. There wasn't the usual problem with mud, and sometimes a huge ice stalactite formed in the middle. I remember very loud echos.

    • @ObscuristTourist
      @ObscuristTourist  5 місяців тому

      Yeah, the mud is an issue. I remember first coming here over 20 years ago when it was a locals-only thing. Such an interesting place. Also, always enjoy old structures that utilized limestone as a base.

    • @ObscuristTourist

      You can still get there. It’s private property, but it’s possible. Security does drive around the road leading to the tunnel, but it’s mostly for dam maintenance.

      Sooooo much. The Niagara are is a hotbed for abandoned and old things. If you go to Niagara Falls proper, there are a ton of abandoned hotels/motels and about a 5-minute drive from the Blue Ghost Tunnel is the Screaming Tunnel. Did an old video on that one here: ua-cam.com/video/cU8VCOsNfBg/v-deo.html

    the supports arent original, (as in, they werent there when the tunnel was being used) they were probably put up because people keep walking through it after it was abandon

    I heard of a ghost story of a girl that was set on fire and died in a tunnel and people say they hear screaming of the girl some interpretation say see was set in fire by her dad who was full of rage or heck some interpretations even say that she was r**ed but still a little scary and me and my pack don't even dare to go in

    Those supports aren't original to the tunnel. Those were put in after the tunnel was no longer used because they had found that after all those years the tunnel was in danger or collapsing due to water leakage and freeze / thaw cycles. Also that "lock" you pointed out is a dam. It opens / closes when needed to drain / flood the pond to the east of that area when the canal gets drained in the colder months and then filled in the late winter / early spring. And finally, I've been to that tunnel many times, and a few times by myself, at night, and nothing was ever noted for it being haunted. This is private property and monitored by the Seaway Authority. They don't want you trespassing there... So if you're planning on going to the Blue Ghost Tunnel... Don't.
