I get what people mean when they say "Malmsteen doesn't play with feel", but from what I hear and see. Malmsteen has feel, from the way he utilizes vibrato on the notes he plays, and the faces he makes when he bends. As well as the presence and movements he has on stage really connects with me. Note that this is also coming from me, a guy who has played and listen to almost everyhthing from blues, glam metal, classic rock, funk and more.
It's not that malmsteen doesn't have feel but the feel is very rare most of his solos are just note density for people who aren't interested in becoming shred gods, this being a rare exception with an insane amount of feel in a lot of parts. This Is probably my favorite performance of this Song. Much respect to this man, immense Guitar player! The more I watch him playing the more I want to pick my guitar!
Yngwie knows how to make a guitar sing! If only all people can comprehend fast music. Every note matters. That part from 4:00 to 4:24 is something big musicians don't manage to write in a whole career. Look up what guitar stars say about Yngwie.
I remember my dad had a copy of this video and I would watch it over and over as a kid. My dad got me into playing guitar at thst time and he put this video in the TV and was just like "check this out."
When it comes to art, there is a level of refinement so high, that a normal person wouldn’t appreciate the skill, they don’t comprehend how good it is. Show this piece to any nonmetal head, they just say that Malmsteem is fast, they might say that this doesn’t even sound good, then show it to a metal head, they might dig it and appreciate the music complexity, but then show it to a guitarist, he will be in awe! He will understand the skill required to play this masterpiece.
Just sounds like elitist shit to me. I'm a musician, and can appreciate the skill and composition of this, but I feel literally nothing listening to him play.
No matter how many times I watch this, it blows my mind. His singing vibrato is to die for. He's using low output single coils (stacked to cancel out hum and noise.) with not much distortion. It's in his hands.
Yngwie is Swedens national treasure. Been to Japan for a while now and Yngwie seem to be huge here. Everyone in Fenders flagship store in Tokyo picked his signature guitar over anyone else's, to play on.

If you see him playing the "blues" you'll se what I mean, he plays the blues scale at 300 BPM.no point in that. But he is exceptional technically,no doubt.
It’s the year 2020 and Yngwie J Malmsteen remains and will forever be number one in my book.
As A Swede I totally agree
You forgot about Randy Rhoads
Actually said in his book.
@Orpheas Malliamanis No they arent the same thing. A book has letters our eyes dont have letters but they can see letters. Letters that are meant to be seen from our eyes to the book. The letters are the grain of the wind with the eyes we have in our heads. What you say?
This thread gave me corona.
Never thought I would cry to a Yngwie Malmsteen solo. People who say no soul, should come back and hear it when you get unwarranted hate from the world. The feelings of hatred, anger, humiliation, and pain, this solo is a mix of all of it
Этот парень просто шедевр, я первый услышал его в 1998 году. такие рождаются великие музыканты раз 1000 лет. Суппер, дай бог его хранит.
From 4:01 and on I get goosebumps it just sounds so good
Yeah 😆😆
It does, can only describe it as beautiful.
and those pedal bends!
indeed....infakindeed!
melodic neoclassical shredding
Freaking incredible! This man's talent is truly a gift from God.

this guy has become a rock god and he deserves the title regardless of all the haters he has....RESPECT!
No...he is not even a human ..he is a piece of art himself ...
The world should bow down before HIM ...he is more than a GOD
Damn yngwie just shredded a whole new shredding generation .hail to the king yngwie mslmsteen
2023 and still i can never get enough of this man's music. The world needs to know there is only one G.O.A.T. I present to you Yngwie J Malmsteen.
Speed Accuracy Technique and makes you sit and watch him play. *Take your guitar and use it as a coffee table. 😅
This man is next level, I’m truly speechless, his technicality is beyond Vai and his tapping is beyond Van Haley, the dude is channelling something truly divine
i think you forgot jason becker that wrote song at 16 and was already at his lvl when he was 16
@@SwitchMusicS7U bro you cant compare a guitar god with malmsteen
Yes van Henley sucks
Who is a guitar god becker ? 😂😂😂😂😂 I used to fight over this 20 years ago with my friend. Malmsteen still rocls becker is on wheelchair.
@@ct1216 is thah so
That guitar was white when he started practicing
Underrated
Finally, someone who understands that gods had to practice and that they weren't just handed the ability to perform.
@@rotisseueryu but im sure yngwie is one of a kind musician, even some people takes practice like he does they cant be malmsteen, there are some people born talented

This Is probably my favorite performance of this Song. Much respect to this man, immense Guitar player! The more I watch him playing the more I want to pick my guitar!
Definately!
i think i've watched this at least 1000 times. fukin immortal . jesus thats some good shredding, it will never get old.
Still unbelievable after all these years.
I still can't believe it too
Been listening to Malmsteen since I was a teen in the eighties and I still have to pick up my jaw from the floor now.
saw him open for Iron Maiden pn Powerslave, he played Eruption, and Randy and everything like it was practice
Yngwie knows how to make a guitar sing!
If only all people can comprehend fast music. Every note matters. That part from 4:00 to 4:24 is something big musicians don't manage to write in a whole career. Look up what guitar stars say about Yngwie.
such a timeless masterpiece.
I remember my dad had a copy of this video and I would watch it over and over as a kid. My dad got me into playing guitar at thst time and he put this video in the TV and was just like "check this out."
Somebody: you can't possibly squeeze any more notes into "far beyond the sun"
Malmsteen: hold my Ferrari's keys
Right from Michael Angelo Batio, heh?)
@@the_doomcliff "the keys of the lamborghini" is what he says
Well done Ferreira
Doesn't matter where you go on youtube, someone always puts up a lame "Hold my..." comment.
and they steal the Ferrari :v
Better than the recorded version!
Sasha H - check out the live version he did in Russia during the 80s. Def better than the original recorded version, too.
Sasha H both are great
Sasha H p
The best live version of this song is on the Japan 1985 video
anything beats those cheesy 80s recordings
When it comes to art, there is a level of refinement so high, that a normal person wouldn’t appreciate the skill, they don’t comprehend how good it is. Show this piece to any nonmetal head, they just say that Malmsteem is fast, they might say that this doesn’t even sound good, then show it to a metal head, they might dig it and appreciate the music complexity, but then show it to a guitarist, he will be in awe! He will understand the skill required to play this masterpiece.
Can't be said better
Same can be said about Cacophony
and Racer X to an extent
I don't like this solo, he is boring
Just sounds like elitist shit to me. I'm a musician, and can appreciate the skill and composition of this, but I feel literally nothing listening to him play.
@@Ash_Hudson I'm a guitarist, and feel passion from this piece.
What I appreciate about this video is that he wasn't focused on nailing it, he was just jamming with glee.
Damn, this is better than the studio version.
This kinda is a studio version.
MahtiJaakkoProductions
I think he meant original version.
RIGHT?!?!
Malmsteen recorded the original in his 20s, he's probably even better nowadays

I come to watch this once a week just to remind my self how bad i am at guitar
Lmao, I thought I was the only one 😝
dont forget that Yngwie is a great comp also
Same 😪😂
me too
Ayyyee it's really all about how good your amp is and how fast you can decide the next pick sweep!
No matter how many times I watch this, it blows my mind. His singing vibrato is to die for. He's using low output single coils (stacked to cancel out hum and noise.) with not much distortion. It's in his hands.
yeah me too. it gives liberation the supporting effects making it heard much clearly from the roots.( the sensation of his fingers).
He actually uses a ton of gain.. his overdrive pedal is with level and gain in 10. but still, it's obviously in his hands.
Yngwie is Swedens national treasure. Been to Japan for a while now and Yngwie seem to be huge here.
Everyone in Fenders flagship store in Tokyo picked his signature guitar over anyone else's, to play on.
His teeth is faster than my right hand
masterHigar then I'm not alone
He should do that all the time, his enamel has a better sound than that plastic plectrum!
masterHigar if you look closely he does legato and doesn't put the pick in his mouth and it's pretty hard to play with your tongue....I think he doesn't use his mouth but what do I know.....I may be guessing it's still amazing....he can do that at those speeds
Try with your nose? maybe lol.
hahHhHaaaaa
3:37 Yngwie forgot the pickups switcher was already on the top 😂
No, he actually triggered a special mode built into all Fender guitars that can only be unlocked by Yngwie Malmsteen.
@@malicant123 🤣
The only mistake he makes!
😂😂😂😂😂
Thank for making me laugh. I feel like shit. I seen Yngwie Malmsteen play in October of 2003 G3 show. It was funny seeing him kick picks in the crowd. And, that was Yngwie Elvis period.
This is the Greatest shredding of All Time
It is his best performance of that song that I have seen. Just when you think a song already has all the notes that exist, he finds more : )

this is one of the better versions Ive heard him play....fantastic !
no matter what people say about this guy, still no one can play like him
Elen Naa you should check out Michael Romeo

Yep jason becker can play better
Better then the original ! When he plays with discipline he is incredible
Yes. This is your real power. But, unfortunelly, Malmsteen seems lazy sometimes... he has a little complex personality. If always uses that hidden musical forces he'll more fans that has today.
When he is not drunk it´s amazing
He's 1.90 tall. That's 6'3 for you americans. Not small at all.

He simply can’t do anything wrong while playing. He transmits real strong confidence with guitar. A real guitar hero!
While I agree that he's a fantastic player, nobody's perfect, which also applies here. I noted a few mistakes in his playing, but that just confirms his own humanity, else I'd be spooked. Cheers.
He used his teleportation to leave at the end
hahahahahha
xD
HAHAHAHHAHAH
He always does
LOL! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
O que mais me impressiona é que sua mão direita quase nem se mexe. Esses vibratos e bends beirão a perfeição!
i don't get why people shit on the maestro himself, you can tell in his movement and face that hes playing with pure fire and passion! every note is perfect, i feel inspired by this performance!
his teeth know how to play guitar better than me
😭😭😭😭😭
We should all wish to know ourselves as well as Yngwie knows and expresses himself through his music. No one else could've written this because no one else can write _your_ music.
His name is and will always be in the history of music, a source of inspiration for many included me,
For all the frantic and stupendous sounds, he makes the execution of it look bizarrely easy and effortless.
How do you not like this! He is just incredible!

I think this is the best guitar performance of all history. He was soo in the zone, and this recording was lighting in a bottle. Jason Becker is who i king as best guitar player, but this video makes me question that every time, i watch it.
How could anyone give this a thumbs down? This gives me the chills
TO EVERYONE CLAIMING YNGWIE'S "JUST SHREDDING":
1. He's doing way more than just shredding, even in this song. Although he's shredding a lot.
2. Just because he's shredding a lot, doesn't mean he can't play anything else! I personally love to shred, but I do love many other styles as well. Take Gary Moore's soloing for example - his guitar is almost litterally crying some times!
3. "I can play way better than him, because I play with emotion and doing better things than just shred"
@George Lynch He said 'end of conversation'! This conversation has ended!
The most amazing about Yngwie is that he improvies for the most part n his playing skill so flawless n so beautiful the true GUITAR GOD
Thank you very much for the top concert in Tilburg your no 1 fan from Hong Kong since 1984
